Ivy’s gaze immediately landed on her armoured vehicle, still parked where she had left it.
Without hesitation, she walked toward it and climbed in.
There was no way she was trekking an entire hour to the city not when she had this.

No sound.
No engine noise.
No vibration loud enough to attract attention.
It was completely silent and that was perfect.

Ivy arrived at the city and the moment she did....She was welcomed.
By monsters.
A group of them stood scattered across the street ahead, their movements erratic yet purposeful.
Ivy narrowed her eyes slightly.
She recognized them.
They were the same ones she had seen during the livestream....the ones the blogger and the military man had encountered.
These monsters...
Still retained fragments of human intelligence.
The moment her vehicle entered their range.
They reacted as their heads snapped toward her and they charged forward immediately towards her. Ferocious and relentless.

Rather than eliminating them right away, she maneuvered carefully....using them as a moving barrier.
A natural shield.
Because ahead...there was something worse.
Her gaze shifted forward and landed on a massive creature.
At least ten meters tall.
Its horror body loomed over the street.
From its mouth extended a long, horrifying tongue easily ten meters in length piercing directly into the stomach of a human lying helplessly on the ground.
The creature was feeding.
Draining.
Sucking the blood straight from the victim’s body.
The sound....Wet, sickening and unbearable.
Ivy’s stomach turned violently.
Above the creature’s head, a glowing interface appeared just as the system had said.

Ivy’s eyes narrowed.
She glanced at the smaller monsters surrounding her vehicle.

Ivy smirked inwardly, her lips curving slightly as her gaze sharpened.
Her fingers tightened around the steering wheel.

A dangerous glint flashed through her eyes.
"Let’s see whose intent is stronger," she muttered under her breath.
And without hesitation....she slammed her foot down.
The armoured vehicle surged forward with explosive force, crashing straight into the approaching human-like monsters before they could even react....before they could even think of grabbing the door handles.
BANG!
Bodies flew while bones cracked.
Metal collided with flesh.

The monstrous growls echoed loudly through the streets, blending with the desperate cries and screams of humans running for their lives.
Chaos.
It was pure chaos.
The air was thick....heavy with the suffocating stench of decay.
Rotting bodies lay scattered across the ground....some clearly dead for days, their organs already ripped out and taken. What remained were horror leftovers... severed heads, tangled intestines, torn limbs.
Flies buzzed endlessly, feasting on what little was left.
And among them....some corpses twitched.
Some mutated.
Transforming into monsters right before her eyes.
While others didn’t even get that chance as their body couldn’t undergo monster formation hence they’re dead.
Ivy’s gaze darkened slightly.
This city....once beautiful and full of life.
The very place where she had once vowed, in her first life, to build a better future for her children...
Now....it was nothing but ruins.
The vehicle came to a halt.
Without wasting a second, Ivy stepped out.
An AK-47 rested firmly in her grip....modified, enhanced... designed specifically to blow off a monster’s head in a single shot.
Her stance steadied.
Her eyes locked onto the towering creature ahead.
The ten-meter-tall monster.
Its long tongue still embedded in a human body still feeding.
Ivy didn’t hesitate.
She pulled the trigger.
BANG!
The shot rang out silent to the world, but devastating in effect.
The monster’s head exploded.
Blood splattered violently across the ground.
The massive body staggered, then collapsed with a heavy thud, releasing the human it had been feeding on.
The man dropped limply, his body trembling slightly. Though paralyzed from the creature’s grip, he was still alive....barely.
Ivy didn’t stop.
Behind her...the human-like monsters she had rammed earlier were already recovering.
Already getting back up....coming for her again.
"Persistent, aren’t you?" she muttered coldly.
Without hesitation, she turned.
Her gaze swept across the ruined street then landed on something useful.
Wrecked vehicles.
With a burst of strength, Ivy grabbed one.
Then another and another.
Using her enhanced strength, she lifted the broken vehicles with ease, stacking them one after another....forming a makeshift barricade.
Blocking off part of the road...protecting the survivors trapped behind her.
Metal screeched as cars collided and stacked.
Her movements were fast.
Once the barricade was high enough....Ivy turned again.
And this time....She aimed lower at the monsters’ legs.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Gunshots rang out in quick succession.
Bullets tore through limbs.
Knees shattered....bones snapped and one by one, the monsters collapsed, crippled....unable to move properly.
Ivy exhaled slowly, lowering the gun slightly.
As she continued stacking vehicles, reinforcing the barricade, a thought crossed her mind.
Wealth, status, power....all of it wereeaningless now.
Those who once had everything...
Money, properties, influence.....none of it could save them in the apocalypse.
Now they were just like everyone else...helpless.
Behind her, some survivors watched.
Their eyes filled with shock, confusion, hope but they didn’t approach her or thank her.
Didn’t bother to render help.
They focused only on themselves....on escaping, on surviving, on staying alive.
Even as she fought.
Even as she protected them.
Ivy noticed and scoffed.
"Tch... first-row spectators," she muttered inwardly.
But she didn’t stop because this wasn’t for them.
Once the barricade was complete....she raised her gun again and this time....there was no hesitation.
BANG!
A head exploded.
BANG!
Another fell.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Blood splattered across the street as the remaining monsters dropped one after another, their heads blown apart without mercy.
Silence followed.
Ivy lowered her weapon slightly, scanning the area.
More monsters would come.
She knew that but for now....this place was safe.
At least temporarily.
The barricade would hold hence the survivors had time.
Without another word, Ivy turned and walked back to her armoured vehicle.
She climbed in, started it and drove off.
Her thoughts now directed to her children.
Even though the system was protecting them...
Even though the shelter was sealed...she still couldn’t help but to think about them.
