Chapter 166: Chapter 166 CORE ROOM

"We should take a short rest," Erick suddenly announced, his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.

Without wasting any time, the group immediately began settling down right where they were standing.

Nobody complained.

After all, they had been walking and searching continuously for quite some time.

The brief break was more than welcome.

However, it wasn’t even fifteen minutes later before Erick got back to his feet.

The others quickly followed suit.

It wasn’t as though they had been eating or doing anything enjoyable. The purpose of the break had simply been to rest their bodies for a short while. Since they had recovered some of their stamina, there was no reason to remain idle.

Soon, the group resumed their search.

"Just where the hell is this thing?" one of Erick’s teammates muttered under his breath as he walked near Ivy’s group.

His frustration was obvious.

"Where are the damn materials related to the Evolution Liquid?" he continued. "Finding those things would be like winning a trophy. Just where are they hiding?"

So they’re really here because of the Evolution Liquid.

Ivy silently glanced at the man before looking away.

A small sigh escaped her lips.

She didn’t react outwardly, nor did she let anyone know she had overheard the conversation.

Especially Albert.

After all, he had refused to reveal his group’s true objective earlier, and she had already promised to respect his decision.

Just as the group continued their search....

GROOOOWL!!

Several loud monster growls suddenly echoed through the factory.

The terrifying sounds reverberated through the corridors, causing everyone to immediately stop in their tracks.

In an instant, every weapon was drawn.

The atmosphere became tense.

Everyone turned toward the source of the sounds while tightening their grips on their weapons.

"This is the lock!" Nathan suddenly shouted.

The moment his voice rang out, everyone rushed toward him.

Sure enough, Nathan was standing beside a green button mounted on the wall.

Beyond the sealed door connected to it came the constant growls of monsters.

Without hesitation, Nathan slammed his palm against the button.

Click!

The heavy door slowly slid open.

The moment it did, Nathan rushed inside.

The others quickly followed behind him.

As soon as they entered, everyone froze momentarily.

The room before them was enormous.

The walls were lined with massive glass containment chambers.

Inside each chamber were monsters.

Lots of them. freewebnσvel.cøm

Some were pacing back and forth.

Others repeatedly slammed their bodies against the glass while releasing deafening growls.

The sounds were so loud that they seemed capable of shattering the entire room.

Yet the glass remained completely intact.

"It’s reinforced," one of the group members said as he swallowed nervously.

Unable to resist his curiosity, he cautiously reached out and touched one of the glass walls.

The moment he did, a monster suddenly charged toward him. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Shit!"

The man instantly jerked his hand back.

BOOOOM!!

The monster crashed violently against the glass barrier.

Despite the tremendous impact, not even a crack appeared.

The glass didn’t budge.

The group member released a shaky breath.

"I told you," he said while forcing a laugh. "This glass is ridiculously strong."

Meanwhile, Nathan was already examining the control panels nearby.

A few moments later, his eyes lit up.

"Here! This is it!"

His voice immediately drew everyone’s attention.

The group quickly gathered around him.

Mounted on the wall was a golden button.

Written directly beneath it were two words:

CORE ROOM.

"We found it," Nathan said seriously.

His gaze then shifted toward the card slots positioned beside the button.

"We need two access cards."

The atmosphere immediately became tense again.

Erick turned toward Ivy.

"Can I have the door card I gave you earlier?" he asked.

Then he added,

"You and Darren can stay here."

"What?"

Ivy raised an eyebrow.

A scoff escaped her lips.

"We’ll stay here?"

"Oh, they want to go alone and collect all the cores for themselves so they can make the Evolution Liquid," Ivy thought inwardly.

A faint smirk appeared on her face.

Truthfully, she wasn’t interested in the cores themselves.

However, there was no way she was going to sit outside waiting while everyone else explored the Core Room.

"If you want the card," Ivy said firmly, "then I’ll be coming with you."

Erick frowned.

"What?"

His response came immediately.

"You can’t seriously be insisting on that."

He shook his head.

"Just hand over the card. It’s safer for you to stay here."

"If I can’t accompany you, then forget about the card."

Ivy’s tone was equally firm.

Without waiting for a response, she turned around and started walking away.

"Hey, wait!"

Erick quickly reached out and grabbed her wrist, stopping her.

A few seconds of silence passed between them.

Eventually, Erick let out a long, defeated sigh.

"Fine."

His shoulders slumped slightly.

"You can come along."

Then he pointed a finger at her.

"But don’t say I didn’t warn you."

A victorious smirk appeared on Ivy’s face.

"Don’t worry."

Only then did she hand over the access card.

The moment Erick received it, everyone’s attention shifted back toward the golden button.
