The creature stumbled forward several steps before collapsing lifelessly onto the road.

"We did it!" he exclaimed excitedly.
A light chuckle escaped Ivy.
"Of course we did."
Not long afterward, they arrived back at the base.
The large gates slowly opened.
Darren drove the armored vehicle into the compound before finally shutting off the engine.
The sudden silence felt strange after spending hours surrounded by gunfire and monster roars.
Both Ivy and Darren climbed out of the vehicle.
The evening sky had already darkened.
Ivy stretched her arms lazily before walking toward one of the benches in the courtyard.
Darren followed behind her while both of them sat down heavily.
The exhaustion from the day’s battles finally began catching up with them.

"We should probably check on the children first," Darren said after a moment.
Concern was evident in his voice.
"We’ve used the water ability to clean ourselves."
He glanced toward the building where the children were staying.
"There’s no blood or monster scent on us anymore, so it should be fine."
Ivy immediately shook her head.
"Just let them be."
A warm smile appeared on her face.
"They’re fine."
"You know that for sure?" Darren asked.
"Of course."
Ivy leaned back comfortably against the bench.
"I can sense them."

"They are safe."
Darren visibly relaxed.
