Chapter 115: Chapter 115 Assigning Tasks.
“I am building my own territory,” Ivy began, her tone calm yet serious enough to make everyone straighten unconsciously. “And to claim territories, one has to defeat monsters. These monsters are definitely not easy opponents, but with the right training and the proper tools...it can become a manageable task.”
The team members exchanged glances amongst themselves while Ivy continued speaking.
“You’re all military men,” she said firmly. “That means you’re already stronger and more disciplined than most survivors out there. The only reason you were ambushed before was because you had no proper guidance. You followed your instincts, walked into unknown zones, and ended up trapped amongst high-level monsters.”
Her gaze sharpened slightly.
“But that won’t be happening anymore.”
Just then, the shelter door creaked open.
Erick slowly stepped out of the building, one hand pressing lightly against his side. The moment the team members noticed him, they immediately tried greeting him, but Erick simply lifted a hand, stopping them before they could speak. Without another word, he quietly walked over and joined the gathering.
Ivy barely spared him a glance before continuing.
“So, I’ll need some of your men to help clear certain areas. Ten acres of land per day. In return, you’ll all be rewarded.”
“That’s a lot of land,” one of the team members blurted out, his eyes widening in disbelief.
“We’ll do it,” Darren replied immediately, cutting the man off before complaints could begin. His expression remained serious. “I’ll lead them myself.”
Ivy nodded slightly as though she had expected that answer from the very beginning.
“The target area has already been decided,” she announced. “The mountain behind the shelter. There are approximately fifty monsters there.”
The atmosphere instantly became tense.
“I’ll need five of you. Each person will handle ten monsters individually. The monsters in that area aren’t high-level creatures, so you shouldn’t face too many difficulties.”
The moment those words left her mouth, several pairs of eyes widened in shock.
“And how exactly do you know that?” Darren finally asked, suspicion and curiosity mixing together in his tone.
The other team members immediately turned toward Ivy as well, equally interested in her answer.
“Don’t worry about that,” Ivy replied with a warm smile.
However, behind that innocent expression, her eyes remained focused on the invisible holographic territory map floating before her....something only she could see. Detailed information flashed continuously across the transparent blue screen, showing monster locations, danger levels, and territorial boundaries.
Darren swallowed hard while the others rubbed the backs of their necks awkwardly.
At this point, it was already obvious that Ivy wasn’t an ordinary woman. They had realized that much long ago. Strange abilities, impossible supplies, mysterious knowledge... none of it made sense.
But somehow, trusting her still felt natural.
Soon, Ivy shifted her attention toward Erick.
“You must be feeling much better now, right?” she asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh, definitely,” Erick replied immediately, a grateful smile appearing on his face. “All thanks to you.”
Ivy gave a small nod before her gaze slowly drifted toward Albert....the youngest among them.
The young man stood stiffly at the back, his face twisted with irritation while he stubbornly kept his gaze lowered.
“And you,” Ivy said suddenly.
Albert looked up immediately.
“You can help with the kitchen. Your brothers should focus on fighting the monsters instead.”
Silence.
Then...
“Are you fucking kidding me right now?” Albert scoffed loudly, placing both hands on his waist in utter disbelief. “What exactly do you take me for?”
Ivy didn’t even flinch at his reaction.
“A young man who still needs to earn his place by learning useful skills instead of rushing off to fight monsters and dying because of inexperience,” she replied calmly, her tone brutally honest. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Albert nearly choked.
The other team members immediately looked away, trying and failing not to laugh.
Meanwhile, Ivy had already turned back toward Darren as though Albert’s outrage wasn’t worth another second of attention.
“You can leave now with the other four members,” she instructed. “Go claim the territory.”
Darren nodded firmly.
Without wasting another moment, he selected four men from the group. The chosen soldiers quickly stepped forward, determination flashing across their faces despite the nervousness hidden beneath.
One after another, they grabbed their weapons and prepared to leave.
None of them noticed the faint silver glow briefly flickering across their guns.
The system had already enhanced the weapons, increasing their destructive power against monsters without the team’s knowledge.
“What about me?” Erick finally asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked toward Ivy.
“You need rest,” Ivy answered immediately. “And you know that yourself. I’m sure you’re still feeling slight pain throughout your body.”
Erick silently paused.
She was right.
“That pain is caused by the remnants of monster poison inside your system,” Ivy continued. “Most of it has already been removed, but your body still needs time to recover completely.” freeweɓnovel.cøm
Erick could only sigh helplessly before nodding in agreement.
Meanwhile, Ivy slowly turned her attention back toward Albert, who was still standing there with a dark expression on his face, practically boiling with frustration.
“You,” she said while pointing directly at him, “should get to work, young man.”
Albert looked utterly offended.
“And I also have traps to work on,” Ivy added casually.
Without waiting for another complaint, she turned around and walked straight out through the shelter gates, leaving behind a completely speechless group of men.
Albert stared at her departing figure with disbelief written all over his face.
“...Did I seriously just get assigned kitchen duty?” he muttered.
