Chapter 50: Are you two in a relationship?

Alexander smiled awkwardly. Could she at least tell him where her home was? Well, he would find out the moment they dropped her off.

Five minutes later, the car slowed down as it approached a set of massive, wrought-iron security gates nestled in the city’s most exclusive, heavily guarded residential sector. The guard at the gatehouse took one look at the vehicle, recognized Samuel and the Reed corporate decal, and immediately pressed the button to let them through.

Alexander stared out the window, his eyebrows knitting together as the luxury sedan wound higher up the isolated mountain road, heading away from the city lights and deep into the dense pine forest.

"Wait a minute," Alexander said, turning around in his seat to stare blankly at April. "Samuel, why are we heading up to Xavier’s mountain estate first? Did he call for an emergency meeting? I thought we were dropping her off first."

"We are dropping her off, Mr. Greels," Samuel said calmly, steering the car as the massive slate and steel security gates slid open smoothly ahead of them.

April smiled, a slow, deeply amused expression spreading across her face. "I told you, Alexander. Just sit down. You’ll know when we get there."

Samuel brought the car to a flawless stop right in front of the grand glass entryway of the fortress-like mansion.

April unbuckled her seatbelt, opened her door, and stepped out into the crisp, thin mountain air. Alexander practically scrambled out of the passenger side, his eyes darting between April and the towering structure.

"Miss April, what is going on?" Alexander demanded, jogging around the hood of the car. "Don’t tell me your ’visions’ told you to just crash at Xavier’s place because it’s heavily guarded!"

Before April could answer, the heavy glass doors of the entryway slid open. Xavier Reed himself walked out onto the steps, his imposing figure dressed in a casual charcoal shirt.

His sharp, calculating eyes swept over the scene—taking in a slightly disheveled Alexander, a stiff but composed Samuel, and April, who looked entirely smug.

"You’re late," Xavier said, his deep voice cutting through the quiet night. But his gaze didn’t linger on Alexander. Instead, it landed on April. "Did you get everything you needed?"

"Yes, and then some extra," April replied smoothly, walking up the steps past a frozen Alexander. "Your assistant is highly efficient, Mr. Reed. I might just steal him away forever." She said, "Though Mr. Greels here complains a bit too much about a little manual labor."

Alexander stood at the bottom of the steps, his jaw slightly slack as he looked from Xavier to April, and then back to Xavier.

The pieces of the puzzle were violently slamming together in his mind—the $150 million wire transfers, the classified relocation of his grandfather, the absolute trust Xavier had placed in this mysterious woman, and now, her staying at his deeply private, tightly secured mountain estate... With him.

"Hold on," Alexander gasped, his gaze darting frantically between the two of them again. He pointed an accusatory finger at April, his voice dropping into a scandalized whisper. "Xavier... are you two in a relationship?"

April let out a long, slow sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. There was only so much his arrogant, dramatic brain could think of. And this man is supposed to be the sole heir to a legacy empire, she thought, thoroughly unimpressed. That entire empire is absolutely doomed.

"No, we are not in the kind of relationship you are assuming, Mr. Greels," Xavier said, his voice entirely flat and deadpan, not even blinking at the accusation. "Though, we are in a business relationship."

Alexander’s eyes widened further as the reality of the arrangement hit him. "So... she just lives here?! You moved the mysterious, money-grubbing seer into your private mountain fortress?! You’ve got guts, Xavier. Seriously."

April felt a sudden, sharp irk on her forehead. Money-grubbing?

"It’s called strategy and keeping a valuable asset close," April snapped, folding her arms tightly across her chest as she glared at him. "Something your small mind clearly struggles to grasp."

"That’s right," Xavier said, stepping down to clap a heavy, grounding hand onto Alexander’s shoulder. "Miss April is a crucial asset for the future of Reed Industries and your grandfather’s safety, Alexander. I’m sure you know that by now. Stop standing in the cold and move your feet. We have a long night ahead of us, and you have a conference to prepare for tomorrow morning."

"That’s right," April said, turning on her heel toward the grand glass entryway. "And while you guys do whatever it is you’re doing, I will retire first."

She didn’t waste a single second waiting for a response, brushing past them and disappearing into the warmth of the mansion.

It was finally time to check out the revitalization pool in her newly upgraded spatial dimension.

Alexander watched her retreating back, still looking slightly bewildered, while Xavier simply signaled Samuel to park the car and bring the documents inside.

Upstairs, April locked the door to her expansive suite, ensuring no one disturbed her. Lying in the center of her bed, she closed her eyes and let her consciousness slip away from the physical world, stepping into the vast, silent expanse of her spatial dimension. freewёbnoνel.com

The space looked exactly how she left it. But there were a few more additional rows which were occupied by the snacks she had bought that evening. They were all categorized by flavor and brand. So convenient.

But her focus immediately shifted to the revitalization spring.

It was nestled in the back of the house, glowing with its magical properties.

The clear water was shimmering with a faint, iridescent luminescence that seemed to hum with pure, concentrated vitality.

Even standing a few paces away, April could feel the heavy fatigue of the long day—and the lingering, deep-seated exhaustion from her past life’s trauma—begin to ease just from the vapor rising into the air.

A slow, satisfied smile curved her lips. With this, she could cure the scars on her back. But even some scars could not permanently be erased. Like the scars in her heart.

She walked toward the edge of the glowing water, ready to test exactly what this new asset could do and slipped out of the dress she was wearing.

She had no idea if she would be naked in the real world by stripping, but it didn’t matter since she closed the door.

And since the upgraded space came with a longer time limit—she looked up at the digital time that was trying to count down her thirty days limit—she could relax in the pool all night.
