Chapter 177: Together (1)

"Yes," Regina accepted the offer in order to get rid of her brother. He couldn’t follow her to the dance floor unless he found someone to dance with. She placed her hand in Timothy’s for him to lead her.

"Am I missing something here? You hated each other," Samuel said, staring at their hands. Regina always hated Timothy from a young age and now she was accepting dancing with him? When did their relationship change? "Timothy, you cannot dance with my sister without asking for my permission. I am her guardian while my mother is busy."

"Is that so? Are you trying to say you aren’t going to allow me to have a dance with your sister when she has accepted it?" Timothy asked only to toy with Samuel. He didn’t know what was going on between the two siblings but Regina didn’t look like she wanted to be around her brother while Samuel appeared intent on speaking to her. "Did I do something to you?"

Samuel scratched the back of his head not wanting to offend Timothy because their fathers were good partners. "I’m just thinking about Regina and her hatred for you. Also, we spoke recently and you showed disinterest back then so why are you doing this?"

"Seriously Samuel? Was this conversation needed for one little dance? Mother and I have already agreed that I don’t need a guardian anymore. You’re holding up my dance." Regina couldn’t believe she was thankful for Timothy coming to her rescue.

Timothy smiled at Samuel but the smile didn’t reach his eyes. "I had a change of heart after meeting with your sister today."

Samuel looked back and forth between Regina and Timothy, surprised to know they were together today. "Regina, weren’t you supposed to be working today? Why were you meeting up with Timothy?"

"None of your business. Are you going to dance or not because I am becoming sick of both of you right now," Regina took her hand back. Now she was thinking about getting away from both of them.

Samuel couldn’t understand how his visit to Timothy about the idea of marrying his sister failed but those two people were here saying they met with each other. Either way, as long as Regina chose someone like Timothy to get engaged to, it would work out for him. What he didn’t like was not knowing how the two met.

"Samuel? What is going on here?" Rachel asked, approaching the trio. She was always happy to see Timothy and Samuel speaking with each other. Her son listened to her well when she once told him to have friends who were at his level or higher. "Timothy, it’s been so long since I last saw you. We don’t normally see you at these parties."

Timothy smiled but it wasn’t because he was happy to see Rachel Hamilton. No, it was because there were three people standing here and the woman didn’t acknowledge her daughter. Maybe he was overthinking. "Good to see you again Mrs. Hamilton."

"Oh stop it. I have told you to call me, mother."

’I have a mother already,’ Timothy only smiled at the woman’s request.

"Why on earth would he call you mother? Did you push him out? Is he your secret son? Is he your son-in-law? He must be cringing on the inside as much as I am but if he isn’t, he must be a weirdo," Regina stared at Timothy to see if the latter was true.

Timothy has to cover his mouth with his hand so Rachel wouldn’t be able to see him laughing at what Regina said. She always said what everyone was thinking. He was most definitely not going to be calling Rachel mother when the woman had no parts in raising him. It was odd how every time he was around the woman she requested he call her that. Even his own mother disliked hearing it.

"Regina, why don’t you run along to find some of your friends and let your brother continue his conversation with Timothy?" Rachel made a mental note to address Regina about her comment in front of Timothy when they got back home.

"Happy to break it to you, mother but I was here first. It is both of them who followed me to this spot," said Regina.

"I understand your brother might be looking out for you but Timothy probably came over here to speak about something private with Samuel. It’s best we leave the two alone-"

"Actually Mrs. Hamilton, I came here to speak with Regina, not Samuel. He says he is her guardian so we were just discussing something then you showed up. Please understand," Timothy explained the situation to her.

"With Regina?" Rachel looked at her daughter slightly confused by this. "What did you wish to speak to her about? Excuse me for being so nosy but she is my daughter."

"The thing is, I am in love with your daughter and I have plans to court her."

Regina swore she heard thunder and lightning behind her as her soul left her body. Attention was now on the four of them because Timothy revealed his feelings loud enough for the people around them to hear. Everyone immediately started whispering, passing around what they heard and there was no doubt in her mind that this would be on the front of the paper tomorrow.

"I-I don’t understand," Rachel stuttered for the first time in a long time. She didn’t understand how Regina caught Timothy’s interest when the two would always argue with one another. Plus, Regina didn’t show much interest in these events to find a husband. Why did he pick Regina?

"It must have come as a surprise to you. Please forgive me but I wish to speak with Regina alone," Timothy took Regina’s hand, leading her away from the crowd who were interested in them.

"I’ll kill you," Regina whispered to Timothy as she allowed him to take her somewhere private to talk.

Rachel was just as equally confused as Samuel was. She didn’t expect her daughter would find anyone after she promised to stop helping her. She was looking forward to Regina coming back to beg her for help when she saw all of her friends preparing for their own families.

"Samuel, what is going on?" She asked her son.

Samuel shrugged his shoulders watching Regina and Timothy get further and further away. "Apparently, the two of them spoke today. I don’t know how since Regina was supposed to be working. Unless she lied and went to meet with Timothy. He’s not a bad marriage partner for her mother. He has a lot to offer. He and Regina will be the talk of the town tomorrow."

Rachel was now aware of the many eyes staring at her awaiting a proper reaction. Timothy had just announced he wanted to court Regina after all. It was expected for Rachel to be rejoicing because of this. "He might be interested in Regina but I doubt the girl will accept it. You know how she is."

In a hall away from the party, Regina and Samuel were having an intense stare down.

"Why would you and your big mouth say that you are interested in courting me? Do you have a clue what you have just done?" Regina was so close to smacking some common sense into his brain. She had not given him an answer to what he said in the carriage today. freeweɓnovel.cøm

"I’m just speeding up the process of us getting together. I have been paying close attention to you-"

"Oh, so you have been a stalker and think telling me that will make me like you?" Regina folded her arms waiting for Timothy to give her a good answer. She did not believe that he actually liked her. There was no logical explanation for him suddenly liking her after all their years of arguing. Unless he secretly enjoyed that? Then he was a weirdo!

"Why are you staring at me like that Regina? As I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, I have been paying attention, no stalking. I don’t follow you home and peek through your windows to see you. No, I am not speaking from experience. Anyone with eyes can see there is some tension between you and your family. I’ve noticed your little friend with the white hair isn’t around these days."

"She doesn’t concern you. I am going back to the party and I hope you clear up this mess you have created Timothy. What are you laughing at?"

"Since I pay attention to you, I noticed something interesting at the festival. My mother just so happened to want to attend but my father was unable to join her. As her lovely son, I accompanied her there. When I saw you with your half-sister, I thought the two of you must be up to no good judging by how much of a hurry you two were in. It surprised me to see you knocking your brother out," Timothy grinned.

"Oh no," Regina muttered knowing Timothy was there that night.
