Chapter 127: Rumors (3)
"Seriously, you’re like a big child," she shook her head at his behavior. The least he could do was continue to pretend that he was sleeping as any other person would. His reply made her more annoyed at being played by him once again. "I should’ve poured water on you when I had the chance."
If she wasn’t so nice he would’ve learned right here right now to stop teasing her. How could someone be so determined to trick someone that they pretending to sleep for more than thirty minutes?
"To be fair, I was sleeping peacefully until you started to make a lot of noise. I thought after a while you were hinting for me to wake up and leave your room." He started to wake up from the first thing she dropped. Who wouldn’t when she suddenly got butterfingers?
"I was actually trying to be quiet but everything just wanted to fall when I did. If that was what you thought I was doing, why didn’t you get up and go to your own room? Doesn’t that make the most sense?" She asked trying to understand his actions. It was like he enjoyed waiting to be asked by her personally to go to his own room. "I can’t believe I was really feeling bad that you probably need rest. I won’t be so kind again."
Vincent turned on his side with his eyes still closed as he tried to get some rest. There was a sense of peace in Aurora’s room which made it better for him to relax. Anyone who needed him wouldn’t be able to come in here to talk to him because Aurora would have to invite them in. "I really do need the rest but you were making it hard for me. I told you I have good hearing but you kept making too much noise. It was all your fault."
"Yes, blame me when this could have all been resolved had you left and gone to your own room to sleep peacefully. That’s better than to acknowledge I was trying my best to be quiet for someone who took over my bed. Now your workers are gossiping and Mari looks excited to see you in my room. When will it end?" Aurora folded her arms and sighed at her situation. She imagined the list of questions Mari would have for her that she didn’t feel like answering because nothing major happened.
"I told you to ignore all of them. Why didn’t you take my advice?" Vincent reminded her once again. It was the best thing to do in life. People will keep talking and assuming what you don’t want them to. How you chose to worry yourself about it was your one problem.
"I did take your advice but there are two sides to this. I might ignore what is said about me but I don’t want to continuously be asked questions or have people looking for something that does not exist. Fueling their gossip or being their entertainment is the last thing I need. Should I just send out a notice to everyone with the answers to their questions and after that they should know to never ask me again?" Aurora seriously thought about it.
Aurora had only met a small, small portion of the people here and knew there will be plenty of questions in the future when she is introduced to more. She didn’t want to repeat herself over and over again in the future.
"That is stupid. Simply do not care about them. If my workers are starting to annoy you, wait until you meet the other people here. There are a handful of annoying pests amongst the people here. My workers are your trial test for you. Have fun. I’m going back to sleep and would appreciate it if you could be a little quieter this time," he got more comfortable on the bed ready to go back to sleep.
He would be more comfortable if he could take off his shirt but the last thing he wanted to do was make her lose her mind.
"No no no no," she approached the bed and started to push him off of it. This was not a community bed for everyone to come in and sleep on. Especially Vincent. It might be his home but he gave the bedroom to her which meant she had some authority over it. "Let’s get you to your bedroom. Why on earth are you so darn heavy?" She asked when failing to move him out of the spot he was laying in.
Vincent hid a smile from Aurora since it felt like she was giving him a massage. Giving her a little bit of hope he pushed his body forward so that it would appear she was the one that did it.
"Yes," Aurora cheered, proud of moving him a little bit. "That scared me," she muttered when Vincent suddenly sat up without a warning. She expected him to resist her efforts to get him off her bed for a while but he didn’t. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Since I am no longer welcome I will take my leave. I know you were having fun watching me sleep even if you won’t admit it. If you get scared again be sure to seek me out or anyone else. Don’t try to hide away in your room and burden everything on your own. You’ll self-destruct if you keep that up. Take care of your physical and mental state so that your sister wasn’t wrong about letting you leave."
It surprised Aurora when Vincent referred to Regina as her sister given that he disliked the Hamiltons. She appreciated each time he spoke of Regina in a respectful manner because he understood how much she meant to her. "Okay, but I won’t bring you into this room again. We can have a moment in your office or downstairs."
"You haven’t mastered the art of ignoring what people think-"
"No no," Aurora interrupted him before he could misunderstand. "It has nothing to do with other people at this point. I don’t want you to take up my bed when you have a perfectly good one. It’s probably better than mine."
"I can show you my bed whenever you like. Just say the word," he teased, unable to miss the moment to make her uncomfortable.
Aurora smacked her face due to the fact that she had set herself up for that one. Why did she mention his bed when she knew he was going to bring it up now and quite possibly in the future? "Just go," she pushed him away from her bed towards the door. Yet another reason why she needed to exercise as she was on the verge of passing out from trying to push Vincent when he was bigger than her.
"I’ve never had anyone want to get rid of me. What a fun experience." He was always welcomed everywhere he went. If someone did not want him around, they rarely had the confidence to literally push him away. Only someone like Cherry came was bold enough to attempt it but not push him like this.
"Glad to be of some service. Goodbye," Aurora closed her door when she got Vincent far enough out of her room. She took a deep breath and slid down the door. Having Vincent in such close proximity was never a good thing for her heart. "I hope I survive my stay here."
Meanwhile, Regina walked the halls of her home having nothing to do with herself since they had all been ordered to not go outside by Minnie. From what Regina heard from the maids talking when they thought no one from the family was around, the rumor of Minnie being with a butler was still being passed around and people were adding extra details.
"Everyone is talking while we aren’t outside to correct." Although she was happy Minnie’s secret had been exposed, it still annoyed Regina how people who had a lot to say something did it behind your back but when you were right in front of them, they were kissing ass. It was one of the things she hated most about society
Regina was curious to see how Minnie would get past this. Regina hadn’t heard the maids speak of the rumors Minnie and the others planned to pass around. What on earth could they have been waiting on? It only left Regina to be bored out of her mind since Aurora was gone and she wasn’t speaking to Samuel. If she goes to her mother right now she’ll have to talk about dresses and proposals.
"How long do I have to feel like a prisoner? Oh great," she mumbled when coming across Gilbert. It was too late for her to turn around and pretend like she didn’t see him because they briefly made eye contact. "Why does Minnie still use a man like him?"
Gilbert smiled realizing he had the opportunity to talk with Regina when none of her family members were around. Her brother had brought up an interesting plan to him and he was thinking about accepting it because he could with a young fresh wife like Regina Hamilton.
