Chapter 1150: Chapter 287: Princess and Knight (Part 2)

Brand certainly wouldn’t admit to having dealt with these Cross Assassins before. What troubled him was that these assassins were not cultists, but a special force produced by a duchy near Erune. That duchy was a vassal state of Kruz, and if anyone present could mobilize these assassins, the Flame Temple would be the most suspicious.

But as he thought this, his hands didn’t slow down at all. He simultaneously parried the opponent’s weapon with both hands and then made a straightforward downward slash—this technique was vastly different from typical swordsmanship. The man was evidently caught off guard by Brand’s swordsmanship, which lacked any aesthetic, and in his surprise, he didn’t even have time to raise his sword, being cleaved in half in his shock.

With a crash, blood and entrails scattered on the ground, and the cultist’s longsword fell to the ground with a clang. Only then did the people around react. Ou Fuwei’er stared at Brand with sparkling eyes, while Macaro and Liwu took sharp intakes of breath. They had seen the modified Military Swordsmanship from Nemesia and Frey, but they had never witnessed such sharp and direct swordsmanship.

"You are Brand, Brand of Tonyger, aren’t you!" Her Highness the Princess was extremely astute. The Earth Sword in Brand’s hands was already distinctively noticeable, and seeing his swordsmanship now, there was no more doubt. She instantly frowned and asked.

Brand was startled and looked back at this actual ruler of Erune’s future—Princess Griffith’s gentle face bore a certain expectation. Thinking of this Princess’s future fate, his heart softened, and he nodded. The Half-Elf Girl was momentarily stunned. The knight she had corresponded with jokingly said he would come to Ambeser to protect her. She thought it was just a compliment, but she didn’t expect this knight, whom she had never met, would really come.

"I didn’t think you’d really come..."

"Of course, I always keep my word." Brand turned back to face the charging cultists, simultaneously replying.

"Then, are you here for me?" Princess Griffith softly asked. There was nothing to be shy about; a knight fighting for a beautiful princess was the most romantic thing. Whether in Erune or Kruz, among civilians or nobles, it was a legendary story talked about with relish. Besides, Griffith never doubted her charm. However, behind her, Macaro and Liwu frowned slightly.

"Maybe there’s that reason," Brand hesitated, not concealing, "but this time, I came for Erune."

"For Erune?" Griffith was taken aback.

"I don’t trust anyone else," Brand raised his sword and replied, "to reclaim the Radiance of Former King Ai Ke’s banner because it is too brilliant. How could those hidden in filth tolerate it?"

The Half-Elf Girl smiled slightly, couldn’t help but nod, with her eyes shining with bright colors.

"We’ll talk later." Brand gazed ahead, unfazed, as multiple cultists charged through the gap in the crowd. By now, he saw through the trick: the cultists attacking the other directions of Duke Anlek and Duke Xifah were noticeably fewer, and more than half of the cultists rushing into the hall headed straight for them. Brand knew well what this meant, and couldn’t help but smirk. Luckily, he was here; if he hadn’t come today, this future Regent Princess might indeed have encountered danger.

It was well known that a Court Mage without preparation was weaker than a Warrior, and Macaro, Liwu, and others barehanded were obviously no match for these "assassins." The enemy calculated that the princess would stay and today’s situation; this so-called cultist scene was simply a long-planned assassination. Brand furrowed his brows, even suspecting Chief Priest Wood.

Brand only knew that such events didn’t happen in the historical Ambeser meeting, indicating a change in history, but he couldn’t pinpoint the root cause yet. However, he wasn’t anxious; these cultists intended to win by swarm tactics, unaware that group battles were his least concern. Thinking of this, he glanced at Duke Xifah and Duke Anlek not far away—though unsure about the details, it seemed these two were undoubtedly the plotters. Brand sneered, "Since you want to play, I’ll give you a greeting gift then."

At this moment, the number of Golden Rank existences among the cultists had reached eight, a considerable figure in Erune, almost equivalent to half of the high-level forces battling for Royal Authority in different factions. Including Ou Fuwei’er, no one present believed they could win, even with Brand; there were only three Golden Ranks at the princess’s side.
