Chapter 1125: Chapter 277: Infiltrating the Manor_2

Little Roman quickly nodded, as if afraid that Brand might think she wasn’t formidable enough.

That was enough. Next, Brand resorted to a mix of intimidation and bribery, threatening the guard not to reveal their encounter. You know, it’s quite simple for a mysterious wizard to threaten an ordinary person; everyone knows they have various means to bring someone to their doom—or a fate worse than death. Among the most famous methods is cursing using a spell. Brand put on a show, placing a ’spell’ on the guard, claiming that ’disobedience will lead to a painful death from whole-body decay,’ then had Little Roman send him back.

Brand mainly didn’t want to attract the attention of the sentinels within the estate. Although this Black Witchcraft can create a plausible illusion in everyone’s minds in the short term, some people with higher willpower might eventually see through it. Besides, the guard was already psychologically shattered by fear. When Brand returned him, he dutifully stood at his post, terrified that the wizard lord would be displeased and turn him into a pile of mush.

The next steps were straightforward. Brand waited for the patrolling riders the guard mentioned to appear and promptly had Little Roman repeat the trick with Black Witchcraft to capture them all. After questioning them one by one, the Vampire Lady knocked each one out with a hand chop to the ground. There were six patrolling cavalry. From his subordinates, Brand selected Medphis, Andreg, Hu Que, Char, and Wild Elf Sister Fuluo to change into these knights’ uniforms.

Brand’s choice of infiltrators wasn’t contested by the others—Medphis, Andreg, Hu Que, Char were either exceptionally powerful or experienced—but Fuluo stood out a bit in the mix. One wonders why Brand reserved the last place for Fuluo, perhaps merely due to habit, unconsciously wanting to include a Red-hand Soft Girl. Others couldn’t fathom the odd reason, though they couldn’t resist casting an ambiguous glance at the duo.

Fuluo figured this out and shot Brand a suspicious look, but said nothing more, only nodding.

Brand didn’t realize that his casual decision led others to suppose a liaison with his exclusive ’Female Clerk,’ but even if he had, he’d probably only be bemused. It was just a small episode. Having already queried the patrolling cavalry about their route, Brand nonchalantly led the others out of the woods, mounted the enemy’s warhorses, and continued toward the estate. Brand surveyed the entire estate. Though estates around Ambeser generally had defensive features, such merchant-built private villas weren’t fortresses. Moreover, the law-abiding nature near Ambeser was fairly good, so the estate’s outer wall was mainly to fend off ordinary burglars. freewёbnoνel.com

The estate’s outer wall was only two to three meters high—in the eyes of the capable, it wasn’t much different from being non-existent. Inside was a courtyard, with the main building at the southern end beyond the layered canopy of trees.

The six circled the estate once, then approached the rear gate along the predetermined route. The rear gate was positioned between two tall pine trees. At this moment, Char approached Brand and softly reminded him, "There’s a warning spell."

Brand thought, indeed. He included Char in the operation precisely for this reason—they were currently cloaked by Andreg’s Disguise Magic; however, the Amber Sword included many True Knowledge Spells that could see through their disguise. But Char, as a Law Mage, excelled at dealing with spells and dismantling incantations.

Brand didn’t believe the Earl of Yan Castle’s underlings could surpass Char. He knew within all of Erune, Char was second only to Liwu and Turaman, and even considering Karasu’s Black Tower Wizard—although they typically felt little affiliation toward Erune—Char still ranked among the top five.

"Can you handle it?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.

Char nodded, "The opposing caster appears to be merely at Silver Middle strength. I’m confident I can deal with this spell without leaving a trace, my lord."

"Don’t remove it; that’s too conspicuous," Brand replied, looking ahead.

"I understand that naturally." frёewebηovel.cѳm

That was enough. The group slowly closed in on the rear gate. Char’s fingers moved slightly; an almost imperceptible pale blue light penetrated the estate’s interior. Above the estate, a hexagonal grid-like light net flickered almost indiscernibly before quickly dimming. This all happened so fast that ordinary eyes couldn’t discern it. Meanwhile, wizards typically gauge surrounding space for spells by detecting magic fluctuations; Char had long since suppressed those fluctuations to the lowest level. The estate’s wizards naturally couldn’t detect anything happening within this short period.

With that done, Char promptly informed everyone via mind connection that the True Knowledge Spell net overlaying the door and area nearby had been temporarily suppressed, lasting ten minutes. That was more than enough for Brand. The group calmly entered through the rear gate, where three guards were posted. But to these guards, everything appeared normal; the cavalry riders still looked like the familiar faces they always knew. Brand even exchanged greetings with one guard, drawing from his extensive gaming experience, having covered all these details beforehand, including passwords and certain traits of the guards.

Once through the rear gate, they truly entered the estate’s courtyard. But Brand knew they shouldn’t act impulsively yet. They moved slowly along the estate’s path, with the stable as their first destination.
