Chapter 98: Chapter 98 Crossroads

Author

After calming his future mate, Alpha Zack went to the hospital his contacts had mentioned.

Unfortunately, as soon as he approached the medical unit, he was stopped by a well-dressed man in a black suit.

"Alpha Zack, are you here to visit someone?" the man asked, his posture subtly shifting to block the entrance.

Alpha Zack studied the man’s professional stance. "You’re one of Yardley Wolfe’s people, aren’t you?"

Louis gave a polite but firm smile. "I’m sorry, but visiting hours are over for this wing."

"I’m here to check on someone important," Alpha Zack said, his wolf growing restless.

But Louis remained firmly in Alpha Zack’s path. "I’m sorry, but the medical staff has informed all non-family members that visits are prohibited today."

Alpha Zack frowned, confusion evident in his expression. "And you’re enforcing this because...?"

Louis maintained his professional demeanor. "Just following protocol, Alpha."

Alpha Zack narrowed his eyes, anger building inside him. "What if I say I need to go in?"

Louis remained composed. "I’m afraid that won’t be possible, Alpha Zack."

"Fine! This isn’t over!" Alpha Zack snapped.

He hadn’t seen who he came for and ended up frustrated instead. Sitting in his car, he loosened his tie and suddenly realized something wasn’t right.

The Wolfe family was known for their business acumen and political connections. They didn’t post guards at hospitals unless something big was happening.

Who could be in that hospital that the Wolfes cared about so much?

[What if Elara was more connected to them than he thought?]

The mere thought made Alpha Zack feel like he couldn’t breathe. His wolf growled possessively.

--

Meanwhile, Elara held her phone, debating whether to call Alpha Dominic. Finally, she dialed.

"Hello." The call was answered almost instantly.

"Dominic, it’s me," Elara said quietly.

She could tell the man on the other end was in a car or plane. "When are you coming back?" she asked, her voice small.

"Missing me?" He chuckled softly. "Probably another three days."

"Oh, that’s fine. Just... my grandmother is in the hospital. Wanted to let you know."

Alpha Dominic’s voice turned serious. "What happened? Why is she suddenly hospitalized?"

The concern in his voice made Elara’s throat tighten. She choked back tears. "She had a heart attack. The doctors say the next few days are critical. Don’t worry. I’m just telling you so you know—not asking you to do anything. I don’t want you saying I kept things from you again."

"I’m already on my way back."

Elara felt her heart skip. "You don’t have to—"

"Elara," Alpha Dominic interrupted gently, "your family is my family now."

Elara fought to keep her composure. "...Okay."

After hanging up, a news notification popped up on her phone.

[BREAKING: Luna Nadia Cuts Ties with Biological Daughter in Public Statement]

Elara’s breath caught, her fingers trembling as she opened the page.

"Local sources report that Luna Nadia Vance has officially severed ties with her biological daughter following a violent altercation. The Luna cited ’irreconcilable differences’ and ’concerning behavioral patterns’ in her statement."

The attached image showed a cold, formal statement posted on the pack’s official social media.

Elara’s shock quickly turned to fury. She typed a quick response on her own social media:

"’Concerning behavioral patterns’? You mean standing up to bullies? Thanks for the public disownment, Mother. Saves me the trouble of cutting ties myself. #TruthHurts"

But her finger hovered over the ’post’ button. Something held her back - maybe it was exhaustion, or maybe she realized that fighting dirty in public would only make things worse.

She deleted the post. No point in sinking to their level.

Mark, who had been following the local drama, sent a message: "Elara! This is insane! Half the pack is talking about it. Want me to come over?"

Just as Elara was about to reply, she heard a nurse mention her grandmother’s name.

She rushed forward. "Nurse, how is my grandmother?"

"The patient just had another episode. Please stay calm, we’re working to stabilize her!"

The nurse’s words hit Elara like a physical blow. All her anger at Nadia evaporated, replaced by raw terror.

Perhaps from exhaustion or the emotional shock, Elara felt darkness closing in. She fainted.

"Ms. Wolfe! Ms. Wolfe!"

--

When Elara regained consciousness, cool fingers rested on her forehead. "Don’t move. You’re getting an IV," a familiar voice commanded.

Elara looked up dazedly to see that handsome, distinguished face. "Dominic?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

She suddenly tensed. "My grandmother! I need to see her! What happened during the episode?"

"She’s stabilized now," Alpha Dominic said calmly.

"Don’t worry. I’ve brought in cardiac specialists from abroad to treat your grandmother. With me here, her condition is under control."

He leaned closer, his eyes revealing a hint of concern. His wolf stirred protectively at seeing his mate so fragile. "But my Luna, I’ve only been gone a few days, and you’ve already worked yourself to the point of collapse?"
