Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Locked Together

Author

Meanwhile, on the other side, Zack and Selina weren’t having nearly as good a time.

"How can there be a hurricane now, Zack? The weather was perfect yesterday!" Selina complained as they found themselves stuck in their hotel.

Zack tried to stay calm. "It’s fine. We can think of this as a break. The weather report says it should clear up in two days."

The worst part? Their so-called five-star resort had been without power for half the day. What kind of luxury hotel screws up something that basic? Their luck seriously couldn’t get any worse.

With his phone battery almost dead, Zack saw a notification - an Instagram post his niece Hannah had shared.

When he opened the image, his face went ice cold.

In the picture, a woman in a wedding dress was smiling like she’d won the lottery, with a man’s shadow standing next to her.

[Elara has actually done it. She’s really married someone else.

And they’re already posting wedding photos like some perfect couple.]

Elara

I sat on the edge of the bed, phone pressed to my ear as I talked with Hannah.

"Hey, Elara! I just shared that wedding photo from your Instagram to mine!" Hannah said excitedly.

My stomach dropped. "Hannah, what the hell?"

"I did it on purpose! I wanted that asshole Zack to see it!" She didn’t sound sorry at all. "He thinks that blonde slut is so amazing? I want him to see how incredible your life is without him!"

"Don’t worry though. Your husband’s face isn’t really visible in the photo. Even if Zack tries to pump me for information, I’m not saying shit about who you married." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

I couldn’t help but smile at my friend’s fierce loyalty. "You’re absolutely crazy, you know that?"

"Crazy loyal," Hannah laughed. "But seriously, he needed to see it."

I sighed. "Well, it’s out there now. Nothing I can do about it."

Honestly, when I posted that photo, I wasn’t trying to hide it from anyone.

If Dominic hadn’t pushed me, I would have just posted pictures of myself.

I opened the photo again, looking at the man’s shadow.

Would Zack recognize Dominic from just his back?

Knock, knock—

I turned toward the door. "Hannah, someone’s at the door. I’ve got to go."

"No problem! Talk to you later!" Hannah hung up cheerfully.

I put my phone down and opened the door. Dominic was standing there with his phone.

He held up his device. "My father wants to video chat with you."

I stepped aside to let him in and took the phone. "Hello, Hunter."

Hunter looked really happy as he stroked his beard. "Are you having fun, Elara? My son hasn’t bothered you, has he?"

I shook my head. "Not at all. Don’t worry, everything’s great here."

"Good. I heard there’s a hurricane hitting some of the cruise routes. Good thing you picked this ship instead, or you might have been stuck."

I had to admit we’d been really lucky.

"Elara, my son can be pretty clueless about a lot of things. Please be patient with him. If he bothers you, tell me, and I’ll talk to him when you get back!"

I laughed before ending the call after chatting a bit more.

Dominic looked at me with a dry smile. "I’m starting to wonder which one of us is actually his kid."

I handed him back his phone. "Here you go."

Dominic walked toward the door, but when he tried to open it, it wouldn’t move.

I frowned and walked over. "What’s wrong?"

"The door won’t open."

I tried the handle myself. It was definitely locked.

Dominic made an annoyed sound. "This has my father’s name all over it."

I stared at him in shock. "You think Hunter locked us in?"

"Definitely."

We were back on the cruise ship going home, which meant even if we wanted to call for help, we couldn’t do much.

"Can you try calling someone?"

Dominic checked his phone and discovered there was suddenly no signal or Wi-Fi in our cabin.

"Can’t get through. The old man really planned this out."

I pressed my lips together. "So what do we do now?"

"I think, like last time, he’s hoping we’ll spend the night together."

When he saw my face getting dark, Dominic quickly said, "We’re both sober this time. Nothing will happen."

"If I have to, I’ll sleep on the floor."

I was still suspicious. "But what if you..."

Dominic put both hands up. "Did you forget I’m supposed to be gay?"

I didn’t really trust Dominic, but we were locked in a cruise ship cabin together with no way to contact anyone. We didn’t have many choices.

It looked like we were stuck with this.

I gave him a serious warning: "Fine, but if anything like last time happens again, our marriage is over."

Dominic laughed softly. "Deal."
