Chapter 391: Chapter 391
Nathan’s POV
I let my Alpha pressure leak out just a little.
Other wolves usually fold but he didn’t. Of course, he was an alpha too. Even though he was no match for me.
“I want to understand her past,” he said. “Even if you’re history, you’re still a blemish in her life.”
A blemish?
The temperature in the room dropped.
My claws pressed against my palms. I forced them back. Was he here to die?
“Why not ask her directly?” I bit out.
Because if he kept talking, I wouldn’t be responsible for what happened next.
“I won’t bring up unpleasant memories in front of her.”
Unpleasant memories. My wolf lunged inside me.
Unpleasant? Was that what I was to her now?
“Get Out.” My voice wasn’t human anymore. It carried a low, vibrating growl beneath it.
He stood calmly, like he’d expected this.
“As expected,” he said, nodding. “No wonder Aria left you. I wonder what she saw in you back then.”
Something inside my chest ripped. I rose to my feet, my fists clenched so hard to prevent my claws from protruding, my wolf shining through my eyes.
“OUT!”
The word tore out of me like a snarl. He left. The door clicked shut and suddenly the office felt too small for my rage.
I stood there, fists clenched, breathing hard. My wolf clawed at my bones, wanting out, wanting blood, wanting to chase down the male who dared—
No wonder Aria left you. I wonder what she saw in you back then.
Those words didn’t just hurt, they lodged deep in my chest.
Aria had walked away without hesitation. Even after everything, even after our child.
And now... other men could sit across from me and talk about her like she was free territory.
I slammed my fist onto the desk. The solid wood cracked.
Collins, who had just stepped in, jumped.
“Alpha Nathan—”
I looked up. He froze as he stared into my glowing eyes.
“Why doesn’t Aria want me?” I asked. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
The question came out hoarse and wrong, like it didn’t belong to a man like me.
“What?” he blinked.
“WHY DOESN’T Aria WANT ME?!” I roared. The windows trembled.
Collins stared at me, not with fear this time but with pity. I’d rather he punched me than look at me like that.
“Alpha Nathan... you and Ms. Aria are history. Thinking about it won’t change anything.”
History. That was another blade.
I stood, but my legs felt unsteady, like the ground had shifted.
“What do I do?” I muttered. “She won’t see me... We were married. We marked each other. How did that damn agreement turn us into strangers?”
My wolf whined inside me, not with rage this time but pain.
Collins scratched his head, then suddenly his eyes lit up.
“Wait! Alpha — even if you’re divorced... your bond isn’t completely gone. You have a child together!”
My wolf lifted its head. Our child, she was a living tie. My blood, my legacy.
A bridge she couldn’t completely burn. Hope flared in my chest.
Yes. I wasn’t just her past, I was the father of her pup and no matter how far she ran...
That connection still howled between us. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
No matter what papers we signed, no law, no council decree, no pack ruling could erase that.
“Yes... we still have Lana,” I muttered.
My wolf, which had been restless and agitated, slowly stilled.
Collins cleared his throat carefully.
“Alpha Nathan, this gives us hope. But... we still have to think about how to win Ms. Aria back.”
I sat down again, the leather chair creaking under my weight. My head throbbed.
“What do you suggest?”
Collins stroked his chin. “She probably resents you deeply for sending her to jail based on Sophia’s words. That can’t be undone. And right now... she’s extremely resistant to you.”
Resistant. The word hit harder than any challenge from another Alpha. He was right. Aria looked at me like I was a stranger now.
Even worse, like I was a danger.
My eyes dimmed.
But Collins suddenly straightened. “But! Why don’t you pursue her again? Didn’t she chase you first back then? And as Lana’s father, you already have an advantage over every other male near her.”
My eyes lit up. Chase her, win her, court her properly. I leaned forward, my elbows on the desk, my fingers brushing my jaw.
Back then...All I knew was that Aria liked me.
She was always there. Her scent was soft and warm, calming my wolf. She loved me so dearly. Her face was very pretty, her bright eyes. Why didn’t I treat her like a queen when she became my wife? I had acted indifferent.
But my wolf had always noticed.
After graduation, Grandma Jennifer Holland, who was overseas at the time, forced me to get married to her and make her my Luna.
My pride as an Alpha rebelled. I hated being controlled. And in that rebellion... I turned my coldness on Aria.
The one person who didn’t deserve it.
I decided to call my Grandma. She was furious with me the last time she came back and found out that Aria had not only gone to prison, but had been released and I didn’t know where she was.
Grandma had traveled back overseas and has been mad at me
“Grandma.”I said as soon as the call connected.
“Why are you calling Nathan? I don’t want to talk to you”, she said angrily.
I swallowed, “Grandma, I need your help.”
