Chapter 107: Chapter 107
Nathan’s POV
Even after Aria spoke, even after she said the words that should’ve calmed me after she accused me, rage still pumped hot through my veins.
My wolf was pacing inside me, ears flat, teeth bared, furious that she’d think I was capable of hurting her. And yet... beneath all that anger, a colder feeling slipped into my chest.
Worry. Damn it! frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Could her suspicions about Sophia be true?
“Why would she do something like that?” I muttered, more to myself than to her.
Sophia, my own chief lawyer. A wolf with status, training, and ambition. Would she actually stoop that low?
I rubbed my temples, pushing the thought aside before my instincts dragged me somewhere I couldn’t come back from.
“If she really did it,” I said, forcing my voice steady, “I’ll make her apologize to you.”
Aria scoffed, annoyance flashing in her eyes. “Just an apology?”
Right. I was thinking like a boss. Aria needed the wolf in me, not the businessman.
“Don’t worry,” I said, my brows tightening. “I’ll make sure she pays the price, enough to satisfy you.”
I’d been too lenient with Sophia. Too forgiving. My wolf had been telling me for months she wasn’t completely loyal. I ignored him, foolishly.
“Okay, Alpha Nathan. I’ll be waiting to see,” she said.
Alpha Nathan. She had gone back to being formal. It felt like a sharp reminder of the distance she still kept between us.
My chest tightened.
“Anyway,” I said, my voice lowering, “it’s not safe for you these days. Come back and stay with me at Hemsworth Villa.”
“Okay.”
There was no hesitation at all.
My wolf surged forward, tail raised, triumphant. She’s coming home.
I almost barked an order too loudly, afraid she’d change her mind if I waited a second longer.
“Collins, get Luna Aria’s things from the hotel now.”
Collins’ relief was evident in his features. He knew this was exactly what I wanted. Exactly what my wolf had been demanding since she got hurt.
He sent two wolves sprinting off to retrieve her belongings.
Aria didn’t object this time.
My eyes drifted to Lana... then lingered. She squealed, waving her tiny hands at me, her scent bursting into the air like warm sunlight.
Something about her features tugged at me...but before I could follow that instinct, Aria tightened her hold around the child, pulling Lana closer to her chest. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Her newly bandaged arm shifted into view.
White gauze wrapped around nearly half her arm.
My stomach sank. My wolf let out a low, distressed sound.
“Did you get the rabies shot?” I asked.
“I wasn’t bitten, just scratched,” she said calmly.
But that wasn’t enough, not for me. Not when she was hurt.
“Alright. When we get home, I will have the family doctor look at it again.”
My tone was cold. But even I could hear the worry bleeding through.
She nodded.
We remained silent for a while, it got awkward. I rubbed my temples again. Aria mentioned something about needed to pack her things, I gave her some of my body guards and let her go.
Once she disappeared down the hallway, I turned to Collins who I had told to gather details earlier and asked. “What exactly happened?”
Collins delivered the information quickly and cleanly. The scene played out in my mind. The thought of what Aria and Lana had gone through made my heart skipped.
A cold, brutal chill slid down my spine.
If she’d been alone...If no one had intervened...If fate had tilted just slightly the other way...
I clenched my jaw.
Just then I felt three men approaching. They were her guards.
My wolf’s snarl ripped through me before my voice did. I spun, fixing them with a stare that made all three drop their eyes to the floor.
“Is this how you protect her?” I growled.
They flinched, hard.
“It happened so fast,” one stammered. “And someone was with Luna Aria, we didn’t want to reveal ourselves—”
Pathetic.
I grabbed the middle one by the throat, lifting him halfway off the ground. His pulse hammered against my palm, his wolf trembling beneath my aura.
“I told you to protect her,” I said, my voice as cold as winter steel. “Her safety comes first. If you can’t do that simple job, what the hell do I need you for?”
I threw him aside. He staggered, nearly falling.
“Alpha Nathan!” all three cried, bowing so low their heads almost hit the floor.
Out of the corner of my eye, Collins shifted uneasily, but my glare silenced him instantly.
The entire hospital felt my rage. Wolves nearby lowered their gazes, sensing the storm in the air.
“Also,” I said, breathing through the fury, “find out who the guy is that saved Aria.”
My wolf huffed.
Whoever he was, he’d stepped into my territory.
