Chapter 389: The Babies Are Here

(Alnilam)

My commitments in Palinvine take longer than I had anticipated. A restlessness begins in my heart while I am in the meeting with the newly appointed council. The Fae people are relocated here. New housing is being developed so they can start their lives over.

Suddenly the mindlink between Saiph and me opened. He must have arrived in Palinvine. The mindlink only works if we are in the same state.

"Where are you? Amaia is having the babies," his slightly panicked voice comes.

"What?"

"Yes, she is in labour and asking for you. We have to go or we will miss the birth of our children," he urgently says.

I wind up the meeting and rush outside to meet him.

Worries have clouded his face.

"There you are. We have to go. She was anxious when I left to find you. Worried that you won’t make it."

"Sorry, it took longer than I had expected. And I didn’t know she would go into labour," I answered, opening the portal back to Orion. "Where is she?"

"She is in her room."

Hurriedly, both of us pass through the portal and return to our palace, outside her room. My brothers are already there and so is my sister.

Mintaka is leaning against the wall, arms folded, eyes closed. Meissa is holding his arm, trying to keep him calm.

Alnitak is impatiently pacing while Rigel’s anxiety almost chokes me. His shadows are clinging to the door and wall of Amaia’s room.

"Finally. Where were you?" Alnitak asks in annoyance.

"Palinvine. Got occupied. How is she?"

As if to answer my question, her harrowing scream erupts from her room and all of us turn our heads in that direction.

Her scream falls on our hearts like a lightning strike, making immeasurable pain erupt in our bodies.

"I am going in," Rigel announces, his jaw set tight like a deadbolt. His shadows turn the doorknob.

Alnitak rushes forward and halts him.

"Mom is there with her. They told us to stay outside, exactly for this reason. We wouldn’t be able to control our emotions."

Rigel turns towards Alnitak, ready to blast him away. Anger has contorted his features. Meissa grimaces at the aura he emits.

"She is screaming and in pain. Can’t you hear her?"

I step in. "Birth is a painful process. I feel what you are feeling but we can’t interrupt."

"The hell we can’t. I want to hold her."

"Rigel, listen to Alnilam. We will do more damage if we go in there because we won’t be able to control ourselves" Saiph comes to place his hands on Rigel’s shoulders.

"Be patient. Amaia is strong, she is going to be alright," Meissa quietly says. Like most people, she is usually terrified of Rigel and his anger but today she speaks.

Rigel grunts in annoyance.

It takes the three of us to hold Rigel back. Min is extremely quiet and doesn’t interfere. Meissa quietly holds him wearily watching Rigel.

Amaia’s screams keep battering our hearts but we can only pray for her well-being. My hair turns restless, wishing to wrap around her body and soak away every last drop of her pain.

Tiny cries spill out of the room and all of us go still, staring at each other. Another cry and tensely all of us share glances with mountains of emotions breaking over us.

"Babies are here," Alnitak breathes out.

Finally, the wait is over. The door opens and Mom emerges with a bright smile holding two pink bundles in her arms. Larissa is behind her carrying another baby wrapped in a blue blanket.

Mom smiles at our stunned eyes and blown gazes.

"Meet your babies. We don’t even need DNA tests to know who the father is. Although all of you are fathers to them." freёwebnovel.com

She carefully extends the one with golden hair towards a stunned Rigel, guiding him on how to hold her. A tiny shadow the size of my index finger is clinging to her forehead, showing this baby girl belongs to him and is born with shadow magic.

"There is no doubt this little princess is yours." Rigel preciously holds her, tears of joy shimmer in his eyes. Alnitak, Mintaka and Meissa excitedly gather around us.

"She is... so small," his voice shakes, coming out heavily laden with emotions. He extends his finger and lets her hold it in her tiny grasp. The intelligent blue eyes similar to Rigel’s when he was a child, stare back at him.

"She is," Mom kindly says and turns towards me with a beautiful smile. "This one is yours." The silver hair is the indication that this little one is mine.

With shaking hands and emotional turmoil in my heart, I accept the tiny being I have made with my mate

She is so fragile, her cheeks round. Silver hair like hay sprouts on her head and her intense green eyes stare back at me, the colour she has inherited from her mother.

"Hey!" I gently say. A joyous smile springs on my lips.

"She looks exactly like you except for the eyes," Alnitak jubilantly says, extending his index finger and rubbing her cheek.

"Yes." I bend down and kiss her forehead.

We then turn towards Saiph. He is holding the one wrapped in a blue blanket. Black hair covers his head, indicating that this little tiny dot is his.

"They all are so precious. Congratulations all," Meissa gleefully says and we come together in a group hug.

"How is Amaia?" I ask mom.

"She is so brave. Tired but well. They are cleaning her, you can meet her soon."

We turn around and see that Min is not there, he has already gone in. He cares too deeply and silently, he always has. While we got busy with our babies, he went to see her.

Alnitak takes the little one from my arms, cooing at her.

"My princess, Papa is going to spoil you."

I know he is.

Meissa takes our son from Saiph and happily plays with him.

"I am going to inform your father. You guys can go meet Amaia." Mom leaves us and we finally head inside to meet our mate.
