Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Alois eyeballed the four members of his group that had been added without his notice, two of them were currently holding the group’s food box while they all sported sheepish smiles.

There were several things off about them, firstly, they were seniors, secondly they looked shady and vaguely familiar but he couldn’t place his finger on why.

His group, led by Cecil consisted of them both, Cecil’s lackeys, a trio of Alphas who stayed in the same hallway as them, and four odd seniors.

"Why are they here?" Alois asked with narrowed eyes, turning around to eye them up again.

Cecil had his head in the map given to them, their campsite was marked on the thick brown paper so they had to hike to it. "They couldn’t find a group to join so I was kind enough to help them out." He said grandly.

That made Alois even more suspicious, Cecil was a lot of things but kind wasn’t one of them. "What really happened?" He whispered to Perry.

"They flattered him and he accepted them without hesitation," Perry whispered back, also seeming to distrust them.

The trio of Alphas kept to the rear of the group, it was clear that they would be doing things together more often than not, which was all very well.

Alois eyed the four again, still feeling like he was missing something. "Any funny business and I’m kicking you four out, go cry to the supervisors if you don’t like it." He bluntly handed to them. freēwebnovel.com

Terrell pinched Hunt who was about to lash out, a strained smile on his face. "Fair enough." He spoke for the rest, glaring at Hunt right after.

He couldn’t let Hunt ruin this because Seton had impressed on how important their mission was, they couldn’t fail.

All they had to do was take up Alois’ attention and although the cocky young Alpha grated on his nerves, it was exactly what they would be doing.

Alois, unaware of Terrell’s thoughts, walked up to Cecil who was still in the lead to sling an arm around him. "Do you know where you’re going?" He asked in amusement.

Cecil covered up the fact that he was flustered by this with an outburst, pushing Alois away from him. "What do you take me for? Who doesn’t know how to read a map, huh?"

After that, he turned around to announce to the rest of his group. "We’ll be heading left here..."

"No, we’re to go in that direction." Alois countered calmly, pointing at a path almost opposite from the one Cecil had asked them to take.

Without question, Leeson and Perry started off in the direction that Alois had pointed at, the rest following suit.

Cecil forced his mouth closed, betrayal on his face. He couldn’t believe his own followers didn’t believe him. freёwebnovel.com

"After you, Captain." Alois gestured, a tilted smile on his handsome face.

It made Cecil want to hit him, not because he had gotten the path wrong but because he had expected the stupid grass-haired Alpha to kiss him after losing to him instead all he got was a request to not bleach his hair again.

Cecil had carried that grudge ever since then, especially since he never got another chance to sabotage Alois. He stomped to the front of the group to take the lead again, no one would notice if he drowned his roommate, would they?

Valentin took the lead for his own group, the others crowding around him to get a peek at the map as well.

Jann looked like he would like to join as well but he had his hands full with stopping Cedric from wandering off. Everything caught the orange-haired Alpha’s attention, moths, bugs, a caterpillar...

Errol’s presence was required so that the three monsters wouldn’t get into a fistfight over what path was the right one. The forest had dense foliage, blotting out the sun in some parts so it was easy to get lost as there were no defined paths.

The only thing they had for reference was the very detailed map given to them.

"We’re right here." Valentin said with confidence, "That means we have to go in that direction."

"Don’t you see that little bump?" Audie countered. "We need to go up a hill."

"I’d prefer if we went around the hill, frankly." Henri interrupted their squabble, out of breath.

He was walking beside Louis and Dio who had offered to hold the food box, Seton walking all alone at the rear.

"That’s not a hill," Valentin said seriously, bringing the map closer to his face. "It’s a curve."

"But why would there be a curve if we can just go straight?"

Errol looked nervously from Alpha to Alpha, wondering who to side with, he wasn’t exactly an expert in map reading.

Nael was just happy to be there, he stuck to Errol’s side, ignoring the others.

They all had to stop for a bit while their next step was decided, Louis and Dio using the opportunity to take a break.

Henri had been even less pleased to find out that they would have to hike to their camping spots, they had been traipsing through the uneven ground and outcropping roots for over half an hour now, so he was very irritable.

"If you both can’t tell the difference between a curve and a hill, then who’s to say that we haven’t been going the wrong way from the start?"

"Would you like some water, Henri?" Louis caught his attention, chuckling nervously.

Henri deflated at this, maybe he was just thirsty and a little hungry and that was why he was so irritable. "Thank you."

"Nael, what do you think?" Errol turned to the quiet Alpha for help.

"It’s a curve," He said simply. "The terrain gets dangerous down the path so we have to go around it."

"There, the matter is solved, let’s keep moving so we can set up our tents and cook breakfast." Errol decided.

Audie didn’t even bother to argue further, going to hang off Louis’ arm. "Louis, you’ll cook breakfast for us, won’t you? Could I ask for some scones?"

Louis turned to look at him with bewilderment, almost like he wasn’t sure if Audie was being serious or not.

"He actually means that," Henri said, taking another grateful sip from the bottle of water given to him.
