Chapter 170: Chapter 170
Claude didn’t intend to fall asleep but he did anyway when he was certain that there would be no further threats to Henri’s life that night. It wasn’t entirely odd that he hadn’t shared a bed with Henri before, they never did sleepovers, too high up in positions of power to enjoy something as mundane as that. He did go over to the Royal castle as often as he was allowed though but even that was limited as they both had daily duties they both had to fulfill.
Claude woke up at dawn, years of being woken up at that exact time made it an ingrained habit. It didn’t matter what time he slept, he would always wake up at dawn regardless.
He opened his eyes and suddenly wished that today would be the one day that he would oversleep. Henri was practically lying on him, his curly hair wild and tousled as he slept with his lips slightly parted.
How had he even gotten here? Claude had slept on his back at the edge, giving Henri a wide berth while he slept but somehow during the course of the night, Henri had crossed the space between them and was now sprawled over him.
Claude didn’t want to wake him up so he didn’t dare move, trying to regulate his breathing so that his pounding heart didn’t betray him. He forced his eyes closed again, hoping that a lack of visual would provide some aid but that just amplified the feeling of Henri’s weight on him, his small hands clutching at his shirt.
It also made him much more aware of the blanket of Henri’s sweet scent that was threatening to drown him. It forced his eyes open with a soft gasp, that hadn’t been helpful at all.
Just when he was about to take control of the situation, Henri started crawling higher, burying his face in the curve of Claude’s shoulder like he was trying to burrow under his skin.
Claude went rigid, his eyes open in horror, it was scary to see Henri who was always a little bit cold so clingy. At least he didn’t seem to have a fever but Claude would be the one ending up with a fever if this continued.
He slowly nudged the cuddly Omega, relieved when Henri rolled over and grabbed a pillow instead to cling to. Claude quickly shot out of bed, not giving Henri the chance to stick to him again.
There was really nothing he needed to do, he really could just leave now. In a few hours, the dorms would be filled with students again, it was best that Henri got enough sleep now that it was completely quiet.
He would also need to handle the case of the assassination, more like he would need to be present for whatever conclusion was arrived at - just so that Henri wouldn’t have to do it. ƒreewebɳovel.com
With that Claude started for the door, finding himself looking back more than once. Maybe he should try to apologize again, Henri might be more calmer now, more open to listening to him.
Henri didn’t wake up till Louis came knocking, the Alpha brandishing a basket full of food for his friend. "Hello, you look well." He said with a bright smile, inviting himself in when Henri just opened the door for him and immediately beelined for his bed.
It could just be the lighting, the sunrays spilling into Henri’s dorm room but Louis thought he looked rather soft that morning. He looked more like an Omega this morning than the cold detached Prince of a country. The fact that his sweet scent permeated every inch of the room was probably also a reason for that. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Henri had been intending to roll back into bed only to pause halfway on the bed when the scent of freshly baked food reached him, his rumbling stomach wasn’t to be ignored. He sat up, his previously sleepy eyes immediately going alert as he zeroed in on the basket in Louis’ hand.
"Is that for me?" He asked, getting comfortable on the bed and already reaching out a hand for the item.
Louis faked a betrayed expression, "I almost feel like you’re happier to see the food than you are to see me."
Henri immediately reached in and brought out a covered tray of buttered bread, biting in. "Well, you brought the food so..." He trailed off, concentrating on eating.
Louis just shook his head and perched beside him, fighting the urge to ruffle Henri’s wild hair. Although with how Henri looked with his mouth stuffed full and his fingers covered in butter, Louis almost felt like he might get away with it.
He had brought more food simply because the cooks wouldn’t hear of food being brought for the Prince and not put far too much in the basket. He had already eaten with Dio before coming to Henri’s dorm room but he had no problems finishing off the rest of his food so that it wouldn’t go to waste.
Henri wasn’t a big eater even while eating normal portions, there always was some food left behind, so Louis was rightfully startled when Henri somehow polished off everything in the entire basket.
He watched on in disbelief and concern as he emptied the jug of water and immediately crawled further on the bed to lean against the headboard looking like he might like to continue his sleep. Louis tried and failed to keep his eyes from the little bump that had formed under his shirt, telling himself that it was just because he was exhausted and hungry and that it was absolutely normal for Henri to suddenly eat so much.
"Do you want more food?" He asked teasingly, not expecting Henri to take him seriously or give him an answer for that matter.
"I wouldn’t mind dessert," Henri said contentedly, sinking into the pillows.
There had been dessert in the basket though, a fruit salad and two different types of cake. Louis forcibly swallowed down his shock, slapping a smile on, "Sure, anything you want in particular?"
"Maybe some kind of blackberry cake?" Henri said thoughtfully, clearly giving it some serious thought. "I’d like something very sweet though, pick for me, Louis."
Louis stiffly rose to his feet and picked up the basket, still not over his shock. "Sure, give me a moment."
