Chapter 146: Chapter 146

"Pierre, I brought you new club members!" Henri announced with a pleased expression when he got to the Field.

The tall president looked past Henri to the Alphas behind him and grimaced at their cold expressions. "Are you sure they want to join?" He whispered to Henri.

"Of course, why else would they follow me here?" Henri encouraged.

And just as he expected, Pierre hoarded them off to get ready for the opening competitions, and they had no choice but to cooperate.

Henri was swarmed by Alphas shortly after but he would take addressing questions about racing to fresh-faced Year One students over having to deal with the insufferable duo.

By the time the opening competitions were about to begin, Henri was all alone again and without even sparing a glance at the two, he left for his dorm room.

"You don’t look worried that he’s leaving." Alexander noted, sitting regally on his snorting horse.

Claude was in a more relaxed posture, "I’m only here because you are." He said bluntly.

"Taking your job a little too seriously, don’t you think?" Alexander taunted, "I’m not going to hurt Prince Henri."

"I’m not even going to give you the chance to." Claude tossed back at him, spurring his horse on when the whistle was blown.

Alexander cursed and increased his speed to catch up, the both of them putting considerable distance between themselves and the other racers.

At the starting line, Pierre was staring at them in disbelief. He had specifically told them not to treat this as a race as there would be a separate event to test the speed of the new members to determine those who would participate in upcoming races.

Yet, here were these two idiots racing like they were running for their lives, he’d kick them out of the club if Henri hadn’t been the one to recommend them for the club.

Henri returned to his dorm room with a sigh, he hadn’t been able to return before lunch because he was too busy taking Alexander and Claude around. Even worse, after lunch, he had to go down to the Field, with them still.

Which meant that he was just finding the time to properly keep his heat suppressant pills. He opened his wardrobe, half expecting it to be missing from where he had kept it.

It was right exactly where he kept it though, if a little more titled from the uneven surface it was put on. Fortunately, the dresser right next to his bed had a key so he could lock it up safely - he just had to find the key...

A full hour later, he was all done and had taken a refreshing shower. He was just settling into bed when a knock rapped on his door. Henri hesitated, knocks were untrustworthy now.

"Henri! It’s Louis!" His friend’s cheery voice floated in.

Henri padded over and opened the door, "How did you know I was here?"

"I guessed," Louis shrugged, he was all alone this time. "I made some scones." He said, handing Henri a little box.

Henri took it without hesitation, stepping inside to let Louis come in as well, "Isn’t it a bit too early for you to be working so hard?"

"As the president of the club, I had to keep the new members engaged somehow, so I had them help me make the scones."

Henri faltered now, "You didn’t make these?" He asked in concern.

"I more or less did, I promise they’re fine, I already tried them." Louis was quick to reassure him, flopping down on Henri’s bed, one of his favorite past times.

"Is Dio down at the Archery club?" Henri asked, perching on the side of his bed to gingerly try one of the scones.

Louis sighed deeply, "Yes, he has some competition with Alois... were you about to sleep before I showed up?" He propped his head on an arm to ask.

Henri immediately gave up on the scones after trying a bite, it was painfully clear that it wasn’t Louis’ work. He wished he still had his eccentric roommates who were always happy to receive gifts of food from him.

"I was..." He accepted, not bothering to ask how Louis had been able to tell. After spending a year mostly in each other’s company, Louis had more or less memorized his moods.

"I’m also tired," Louis said in a yawn, rolling over. "I’ll head to my dorm room then..." He started to say, making a move to get up.

"We can share my bed," Henri stopped him, "Heaven knows it’s big enough."

Louis was genuinely surprised by this, he knew how much Henri liked his space. "Sure," He agreed, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. freewebnσvel.cøm

Henri’s bed was very comfortable too, he was happy to be able to sleep there.

Henri nearly bit his tongue after making the offer, he still wasn’t sure what pushed him to say that. He had never slept beside anyone before, at least for as far back as he could remember.

It wasn’t that odd right? It was just sharing a bed, right? His overthinking didn’t last long because he was fast asleep in no time.

Errol returned early from his club, there wasn’t exactly much to do on the first day and he had already spent most of the day with them so it was redundant to have a long club meeting.

It was fulfilling to do what he loved, he had gotten so accustomed to being surrounded by love that he had forgotten that there was a time that he didn’t have any of it - especially to himself.

As he made his way back to his dorm room, he wondered if Nael was back yet. He was the new Captain of the swimming team after all, it would be a little surprising if he was.

He got to the door to find Jacques about to step in, holding an overcoat in his hand.

"Errol! I didn’t expect you back so soon," He said, looking suspicious.

Errol narrowed his eyes at this, "Are you here to see Nael?"

"You could say that," Jacques said vaguely, his hand still on the doorknob with no intention of pushing open the door.
