Chapter 125: Chapter 125

Colette guided the trio to a receiving room, bustling around. "I apologize for the sorry state of affairs."

"It’s more our fault for showing up in the middle of a robbery," Dio said dryly.

Colette seemed to have adjusted to hearing him speak, there were far more pressing matters at hand after all because not long after, Anastasia pranced into the room.

She did a double take when she saw that they had a couple of visitors, her short curly hair in a disarray.

"Young Master Dio, Madam Gisèle, Young Master’s friend, Louis." She bowed respectfully to all three of them before hurrying over to Colette’s side. "The constable’s here, he’s at the foyer with a couple of officers."

Colette immediately looked to Dio with deference at this, her hand still keeping a solid grip on her trusty rolling pin.

Dio rose to his feet, Louis and Gisèle quickly doing the same. "We’d best have a talk with him."

Colette nodded somberly, walking to Gisèle’s side so they could comfort each other.

Anastasia was the only one left behind in the trashed room, blinking in confoundment. ’Had... Had Young Master Dio just spoken? Why was she the only one stunned by this finding?’

Constable Pierce tipped his hat to them when they filed down the stairs, he stood in the foyer just had Anastasia had reported, a grim expression on his face.

"I hear there was an early morning robbery?" He directed to Colette and Gisèle who stood side by side.

Colette looked questioningly to Dio, she fell quickly into the role of deferring to the Young Master because that was how it was always supposed to be.

"You can tell him what you told us." Dio allowed, still holding onto Louis’ hand.

Colette courtesied, picked up the skirt of her uniform, and then stomped forward to stand right in front of the constable. "So you see... it happened like this..."

Constable Pierce listened intently although Anastasia had already told him what Colette recounted, word for word. He was startled to hear the Agar heir speak but he was a professional and he kept his reaction from showing on his face.

He had a long history of sorts with the Agar family, the untitled Lord was well known in the Prefecture although he preferred to live a quiet life hidden away in his manor on the hill with his wife and only child.

The tragedy that befell the family was a well-known one as well, especially to Constable Pierce who had been the one to handle the case.

"Master Agar? May I speak to you privately?" He turned to Dio after listening to what Cook Colette had to say and realizing that he wouldn’t be getting any new information from her.

Dio shared a look with Louis before agreeing, "Sure," he said, reluctantly letting go of Louis’ hand.

Constable Pierce stepped outside the open doors and gestured for Dio to come along with him. He waited patiently for the young Alpha to walk up to him, a bittersweet taste in his mouth at how much he had grown. He had no one but Madam Gisèle to thank for this and from the looks of things, her only son.

He took out a writing pad to seem professional, touching his curling mustache out of habit. "I understand that you weren’t present when the robbery occurred?"

Dio slipped his hands into his pockets, his hair was tied back in a full but low bun today, tendrils of his inky black hair framing his angular face. "I wasn’t, constable, we just arrived mere minutes before you did."

Pierce nodded with a grim expression and pretended to take notes, then he gave up halfway and stowed away the pad. "I’m going to speak honestly, Master Agar." He suddenly blurted out.

Dio straightened up at this, curiosity sparking in his mismatched eyes. "You’re free to."

"I believe that those three scumbags did it and would like to seek your permission to throw them behind bars." He said gruffly, his hands in fists.

Dio was pleasantly surprised by this, he hadn’t doubted Colette one bit but there were procedures to these things, even after they were caught, trials would be required to determine if they were truly guilty or not.

"You’re telling me that I have the power to imprison them without a trial?" Dio repeated to make sure that he heard right.

Pierce straightened his shoulders and adjusted the lapels of his trench coat, "Certainly sir, just say the word."

"Then I grant you permission, hell, I’d be pleased if you extended their stay as well." He said without hesitation.

Constable Pierce saluted fiercely, his dark eyes blazing. "I’ll have that arranged as well, sir. Good day to you," He tipped his hat to Dio again, "Please don’t hesitate to summon me if you need my assistance, I’m happy to be of service to you." freewebnovel.cσ๓

Dio nodded at this, he knew that a failed attempt at a robbery wouldn’t be enough to put them in prison for the rest of their lives as he would have preferred but this was a good start. He also had a feeling that Constable Pierce would keep to his words, enthusiastically too.

"If you’ll excuse me, we’ll begin the hunt for the criminals right away." He saluted one more time before walking back to the foyer no doubt to relay the new developments to the officers still inside.

"What was that about?" Louis hurried out to him before he could even go back in, worry in his deep blue eyes.

Dio placed his hands on Louis’ sides and pulled him closer, ignoring the scandalized look on his boyfriend’s face. "Constable Pierce wanted my permission to lock them up as soon as they’re found." He explained briefly.

"He can do that?" Louis asked, his eyes brightening up for the first time all day.

"Yes he can," Dio murmured, letting go of Louis just as the constable was making his way out the front doors with his officers in tow. They all saluted him before hurrying to the horses that they had ridden here, the three ladies hurrying out behind them.
