Chapter 229: Chapter 142: Purchasing Golems and a New Upper-Level Magic Tattoo
Since the Secret Silver Resource Point quest was unavailable, Pei Ze decided to continue focusing on attacking the Turin Defense Works.
As it happened, he had been planning to earn some merit points to purchase mining and smelting teams anyway.
After selecting a target, Pei Ze had Su Ya accept the quest. Then, he led the two of them out of the quest hall and toward the city gate.
On the way, Su Ya was still a little uneasy.
"Sir, are you sure it’s okay to let the people from Red Lotus City take that quest?"
Pei Ze replied without turning his head, "What else could we do? They accepted the quest first. We can’t just attack them and take it, can we?"
"But..." Su Ya’s brow furrowed. "What if those people actually manage to capture the Secret Silver Resource Point?"
Pei Ze chuckled. "Then we let them have it."
"There are so many resource points on the battlefield; it’s not like that’s the only good one. If it’s gone, we’ll just find a new target."
"Besides, they’re most likely going to fail."
Su Ya and Peng Yan grew even more confused, unable to understand where Pei Ze’s confidence came from.
Seeing that Pei Ze had no intention of explaining, they could only suppress their doubts.
Riding the giant eagle, the three of them quickly arrived at their destination.
With his power having surged, Pei Ze’s actions were even more swift and decisive.
He instructed Su Ya and Peng Yan to find a place to land the giant eagle, then leaped directly from its back, falling from the sky toward the castle like a meteor.
In mid-air, Silver Star rapidly transformed into a spear. Fifteen Lightning Runes then appeared in succession, merging into the spear almost simultaneously, and a dazzling flash of lightning instantly lit up the sky.
The castle’s defensive shield had just materialized when it was shattered by the descending Thunder Spear, disintegrating into countless particles of light.
The Turin Knights on the city walls stared, dumbfounded at this scene, their faces showing expressions as if they had just seen a ghost.
Before they could recover their senses, a dense storm of countless silver spikes rained down.
Amidst blood-curdling screams, the Turin Knights fell one after another like stalks of wheat cut down by a scythe.
In the blink of an eye, all the Knights and soldiers on the city walls were wiped out.
The four Winter Frost Priests who had rushed over stared at the field of corpses, their eyes practically splitting with rage.
"Damn you, Alien Race Witch..."
The leading Second-Class Priest had barely spat out the curse when a Thunder Spear tore through the air, pierced his body, and sent him plummeting from the sky.
All the Divine Magical Protection Items on his body were destroyed in an instant, offering no resistance whatsoever. The ensuing burst of lightning then engulfed him.
By the time the lightning dissipated, the Second-Class Priest had been annihilated, not even a speck of dust remaining.
The three remaining Winter Frost Priests stared at the scene before them, their faces instantly drained of all color.
ZZZT!
The Thunder Spear once again tore through the air, piercing another Priest’s chest and annihilating him instantly.
Only then did the two survivors snap out of it, as if waking from a nightmare. They turned and fled without hesitation.
Unfortunately, they didn’t get far before they were struck down by the Thunder Spear that came from behind!
From start to finish, the four Winter Frost Priests had been completely powerless, crushed as easily as four ants.
High in the sky, the corners of Pei Ze’s mouth turned up in a satisfied smile.
’After breaking through to the liquefaction stage and becoming a Tier Three Legend, Priests below the fourth rank are like ants to me. I can crush them with a flick of my wrist.’
Looking down at the castle plunged into chaos, Pei Ze raised his palm. A wisp of black energy shot out, transforming into innumerable Fog Crows that swept downwards, blotting out the sky.
A new round of slaughter quickly began.
By the time Su Ya and Peng Yan had settled the giant eagle and hurried over, the battle in the castle was already nearing its end.
Looking at the now-conquered castle, the two exchanged a glance, shrugged in unison, and began to clean up the battlefield as if it were routine.
As the last Turin Knight fell dead, the flock of crows converged, reverting to Wuyu’s form and landing on Pei Ze’s shoulder.
"It’s a shame I can’t find any crow-type Magical Creatures in Red Maple City, or you could have been strengthened too."
Pei Ze stroked Wuyu’s cool feathers, a thoughtful look in his eyes.
’Just relying on buying crow-type Magical Creatures for Wuyu to devour isn’t a sustainable solution.’
’After all, as Wuyu gets stronger, the number of crow-type Magical Creatures it will need to devour in the future will be no small amount.’
’Even buying up all the crow-type Magical Creatures in every shop in Chenxi City wouldn’t be enough.’
’It would be best to have people help with long-term collection.’
’Or find a plane with an abundance of crow-type Magical Creatures and capture them in large numbers.’
’But either of these methods will have to wait until I get back to Chenxi City.’
"You’ll have to put up with it for now," Pei Ze said softly.
Wuyu let out a cry and nuzzled his palm.
Once Su Ya and Peng Yan finished cleaning the battlefield, the three of them mounted the giant eagle again and continued on to the next destination.
That’s right, the next one.
Pei Ze had accepted three quests to attack defense works at once and planned to complete them all today.
Neither Red Maple City nor the Turin People could have possibly imagined that among the Level 1 Wizards active in the buffer zone, there was one whose combat power had reached the level of a Second-level Wizard—someone who treated attacking defense works as casually as a walk in the park.
...
The edge of the sky gradually took on a dusky yellow hue.
Having completed his quests, Pei Ze returned to Red Maple City and went to the quest hall to turn them in.
Before long, under the incredulous gazes of the staff, Pei Ze casually strolled out of the hall. His chip card was now richer by over 3,700 merit points.
Including his previous merit points, he now had approximately 3,900 in total.
Arriving at the exchange, Pei Ze walked straight to the wall labeled "Puppets and Golems," ready to select a suitable Puppet Golem.
Strictly speaking, puppets are a branch of golems; they can be considered a weaker version of a golem that lacks autonomous intelligence.
