Chapter 216: Chapter 135: I Don’t Understand! I Can’t Comprehend It!!

At the same time, Pei Ze also dashed toward Pei Zhanqing.

’If retreating isn’t an option, then I’ll fight.’

’Judging by the Magic Power he just displayed, Pei Zhanqing is at most in the gasification stage of a Second-level Wizard.’

He wasn’t without hope of winning against a Wizard of this level.

As if sensing Pei Ze’s intentions, Pei Zhanqing let out a contemptuous sneer. He opened his mouth and unleashed an earth-shattering sound, like the roar of a primeval beast.

Roar Skill!

The invisible soundwave instantly distorted the space around it, churning the air into a violent shockwave that swept toward the murder of crows.

The Fog Crows disintegrated wherever the wave passed, turning into mist that dissipated into the air.

Pei Ze was also struck by the soundwave, but with the triple protection of his Silver Star, Earth Rune, and Shelter Magic Tattoo, he only faltered for a moment. He continued his charge, appearing like a phantom at Pei Zhanqing’s side and smashing a fist at his head.

The Flame Shield appeared again, blocking Pei Ze’s attack.

"Don’t waste your energy. Without the enhancement of your Magic, you can’t possibly break my defense, even with a Tier Two Witchcraft Artifact."

Pei Zhanqing let out a derisive chuckle.

"My Burning Flame Robe is also a Tier Two Witchcraft Artifact, and a defensive one at that. With just your..."

He trailed off as a sudden, intense feeling of dread washed over him.

Pei Zhanqing snapped his mouth shut. A glance from the corner of his eye revealed that a layer of blindingly bright lightning had appeared on the surface of Pei Ze’s fist.

That was the source of the dreadful, spine-chilling sensation.

Until now, Pei Ze had only ever unleashed the power of the Burning Thunder Burst Magic Tattoo on its own. This was the first time he had combined its terrifying energy with his Silver Star.

He could clearly feel his Spiritual Power draining away like a burst dam, drawn out by the Silver Star to maintain the stability of the fused energies.

Even so, the violent, unparalleled energy felt as if it could spin out of his control at any second.

Pei Ze knew he couldn’t hold on for long. Without hesitation, he swung his fist, unleashing the full torrent of energy upon Pei Zhanqing.

BOOM!

An earth-shattering roar erupted, threatening to shatter eardrums!

Countless thick bolts of lightning erupted, sweeping forward like a torrent with the force of Pei Ze’s punch. With ferocious power, they tore through space and shattered the earth, carving a cone-shaped trench a full four to five hundred meters long!

The air, seemingly scorched, filled with the thick stench of burning.

When the lightning dissipated, a cone-shaped chasm stretched out before Pei Ze. It was four to five hundred meters long and five to six meters deep at its nadir.

The surface of the chasm was covered in glassy, vitrified crystals from the intense heat, still emitting faint wisps of smoke.

And in the chasm, Pei Zhanqing stood, his body slightly hunched over.

The man who, moments ago, wore an expression of absolute confidence now looked utterly wretched. The fiery red robe he wore was dull and lifeless, clearly having sustained heavy damage.

Half of his face looked as if the flesh had been scoured away, leaving a charred, sunken pit where one could faintly see his gums.

"You little bastard! I’ll kill you!"

Pei Zhanqing’s previous air of superiority and nonchalance had vanished completely, replaced by a face twisted with venomous hatred.

He, a mighty Second-level Wizard, had been grievously wounded by a mere Level 1 Wizard. To him, this was the ultimate humiliation.

As he lunged forward, Pei Zhanqing’s skin suddenly split open, and dense black scales erupted all over his body. Like modeling clay, his form elongated and widened.

In the blink of an eye, a giant serpent covered in black scales, a full twenty to thirty meters long, appeared before Pei Ze. Hissing, it flicked its tongue and lunged forward with savage intent.

’The Yugro Giant Serpent bloodline,’ Pei Ze murmured, then decisively burned his Energy Gathering and Giant Magic Tattoos.

At the same time, the Earth Rune on his body dispersed. Twelve new Lightning Runes appeared in their place and plunged into his body.

While fused with the Silver Star, the maximum number of Elemental Runes Pei Ze could withstand was twenty.

As the runes entered his body, he was instantly shrouded in a tangible-looking aura of electricity, as if donning a suit of Thunder Armor. He began to exude the same domineering, unparalleled presence as lightning itself.

In this extreme state, the drain on his Spiritual Power intensified. Even with his current level of Spirit, Pei Ze couldn’t maintain it for long.

He dared not delay. In a flash, he shot forward like lightning to meet the giant serpent that was Pei Zhanqing.

The Giant Magic Tattoo enhanced his strength, and in its burning state, the boost gave Pei Ze the terrifying power to rival a Mountain Giant.

Meanwhile, burning the Energy Gathering Magic Tattoo elevated the power of the Lightning Runes to a new peak.

As Pei Ze threw a punch, crackling thunder and explosive lightning erupted in waves, crashing down on the giant serpent’s head like a tidal wave from a furious sea!

The giant serpent shrieked in pain, its massive body lurching to the side, almost knocked to the ground by the force of the blow.

It shook its head, opened its cavernous maw, and snapped viciously at Pei Ze.

Fearless, Pei Ze met it head-on, his body wreathed in searing lightning.

The two clashed, strength against strength, trading blow for devastating blow. The fierce melee quickly reached a fever pitch.

Pei Yonggao, who had long since fled to a safe distance, stared, dumbfounded, his eyes glazed and his breath coming in ragged gasps.

As a member of the Pei Family, he knew better than anyone how powerful the Yugro Giant Serpent form was.

One could say that any Wizard from the Pei Family who unleashed their Yugro Giant Serpent form was virtually invincible against peers of the same rank.

And yet, Pei Ze was somehow fighting on even ground with Pei Zhanqing in his Yugro Giant Serpent form.

The scene felt so absurd it was as if he were in a dream.

"ROAR!"

On the other side, the battle between Wuyu, the Battlefield Heather, and the Mountain Giant was also continuing.

At some point, Wuyu had recalled all its Fog Crows and fused them into its body. Its once-small frame had swelled to over twenty meters in height, transforming it into a massive, majestic giant crow.

Its claws, imbued with traces of the Power of Death, relentlessly assaulted the Mountain Giant, each strike leaving a bloody gash on the giant’s body.

The self-healing ability that the giant race prided themselves on was useless against the Power of Death.

Before long, the Mountain Giant was covered in wounds.

It wanted to eliminate Wuyu, the greater threat, but the giant crow was always able to nimbly evade its attacks.

With the Battlefield Heather also launching a reckless, unrelenting assault from the side, the giant was overwhelmed and in a wretched state.

Under the combined assault from Wuyu and the Battlefield Heather, even a creature as powerful as the Mountain Giant couldn’t hold out for long.

With a final, agonizing shriek, its head was torn apart by Wuyu’s claws, brains splattering everywhere.

The Mountain Giant’s dying blow, however, smashed nearly half of the Battlefield Heather’s body.

Fortunately, as a plant puppet, the creature possessed immense vitality. The Battlefield Heather was not destroyed, but it lay on the ground, out of the fight.

Without a moment’s pause, Wuyu turned to help Pei Ze, joining the assault on the giant serpent.

Having fused with all the Fog Crows, Wuyu was now no weaker than an ordinary Level 1 Liquidation Wizard.

Ordinarily, Pei Zhanqing wouldn’t have given such a level of power a second glance, but in his current stalemate with Pei Ze, it was the final weight needed to tip the scales of battle.

Its gleaming, deadly claws ripped through the giant serpent’s scales, exposing the raw flesh beneath.

Corroded by the Power of Death, the flesh rapidly turned a sickly gray-white, losing all signs of life.

The giant serpent shrieked in pain. Its tail whipped through the air, striking viciously at Wuyu, only to pass right through its misty form.

Seizing the opportunity, Pei Ze closed in. His lightning-wreathed fist slammed into the serpent’s belly, instantly shattering its scales and leaving a horrifying, charred wound.

Under the combined assault of man and companion, Pei Zhanqing was quickly put on the back foot.

He finally realized the danger he was in. A flicker of panic crossed his serpentine eyes. After forcing back Pei Ze and Wuyu one last time, he turned and fled without a moment’s hesitation.

He was running away!

Pei Yonggao stared dumbly at the giant serpent’s retreating form, his mouth hanging open. He stood frozen in place, his head buzzing.

A mighty Second-level Wizard, beaten and forced to flee by a Level 1 Wizard!

How was this possible? It was like something out of a fairy tale!

Pei Yonggao couldn’t comprehend it. The situation had been so favorable just moments ago. Pei Zhanqing had held the clear advantage. How had it come to this?

’I don’t understand! I just can’t wrap my head around it!’ he screamed internally.
