Chapter 205: Chapter 130: Exactly How Many of You Are Here?

Fortunately, Yan Dong’s next words turned their anger into joy.

"Don’t worry, all the Turin People outside have been taken care of."

Cheng He was stunned.

’Taken care of?’

’It hasn’t even been half an hour since the fighting started. How many reinforcements came? How could they have captured the defense works so quickly?’

But despite his confusion, Cheng He was thrilled.

Yan Dong and Fang Na wasted no time. They immediately drew their weapons, broke the door lock, and freed Cheng He and the other captives.

The group then hurried out of the underground prison and back to the surface.

The moment they saw daylight again, all the captives showed expressions of joyful relief, as if they had survived a disaster.

But soon, they realized something was wrong.

"Why are all the bodies those of the Turin People?"

"Yeah, there isn’t a single damaged puppet or golem, nor are there any bodies of foreign familiars."

"Where did the army that attacked the defense works go?"

Cheng He also looked at Yan Dong and Fang Na questioningly.

Yan Dong and Fang Na glanced at each other, then pointed to the sky with strange expressions.

"They’re up there."

Everyone looked up and finally noticed numerous crows circling overhead.

"Are those... familiar derivatives?" Cheng He asked, a look of astonishment on his face as he finally processed the situation. "Exactly how many people came with you?"

"Besides the two of us, there was one other Wizard."

As soon as he said this, everyone present was utterly shocked.

"Only three people?"

"Three Wizards wiped out the entire Turin Army here?"

"You’ve got to be kidding, right?"

"To be precise..." Yan Dong coughed lightly, interrupting them. "It was the Wizard traveling with us who annihilated the Turin Army. Fang Na and I just watched from the sidelines the entire time; we never made a move."

The crowd fell silent.

Everyone looked flabbergasted, unsure for a moment whether Yan Dong was telling the truth.

Cheng He asked, "Was it a Second-level Wizard who came?"

If a Second-level Wizard had personally taken action, then conquering Defense Post No. 89 single-handedly wouldn’t be that surprising.

But unexpectedly, Yan Dong shook his head with a wry smile and said, "Pei Ze is only a Level 1 Wizard."

After a pause, he added, "You’ve all heard of that newly advanced Wizard from High Tower Academy, right? He was the one who did it."

These words hit them like a bomb, leaving everyone on the scene completely stunned.

Of course they had heard of Pei Ze.

Who hadn’t heard of Chenxi City’s hottest new genius Wizard?

What shocked them was that, from what Yan Dong was saying, Pei Ze had single-handedly annihilated the Turin Army here.

How was that possible?

When they were escorted here, they had all seen the Winter Frost Priests. They knew there were four of them, including a Second-Class Priest.

Those four alone were more than a newly advanced Wizard could handle.

Not to mention the numerous Sect Knights and noble armies.

A new Wizard conquering a Turin defense post all by himself? It sounded utterly absurd.

But there was no reason for Yan Dong and his partner to lie to them!

Seeing the shocked and bewildered expressions on everyone’s faces, Yan Dong and Fang Na exchanged a look, both smiling wryly.

They completely understood how the group felt.

To be honest, if they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they wouldn’t have believed a newly advanced Wizard could do such a thing either.

One could only say that Pei Ze’s power defied common sense.

Just then, the sound of something slicing through the air came from the distance. A figure approached at high speed, flying from far away.

Already on edge, Cheng He and the others jumped in alarm. When they came to their senses, they saw the newcomer was a young man who looked to be seventeen or eighteen.

Without needing an introduction from Yan Dong and Fang Na, everyone immediately understood that this person was Pei Ze.

Their gazes were soon drawn to the body in Pei Ze’s hands.

The aged face, the graying temples, and the distinct white Sacrificial Robe of a Winter Frost Priest—it was unmistakably the supreme commander of Defense Post No. 89, the Second-Class Priest.

The Second-Class Priest who had lorded over them just yesterday, casting Divine Arts upon them, was now a cold corpse held in Pei Ze’s hand.

Seeing this, the last wisp of doubt in everyone’s hearts vanished.

When they looked up at Pei Ze again, their eyes were filled with awe.

To conquer a Turin Defense Works single-handedly, regardless of his actual rank, meant his true power was incredibly close to that of a Second-level Wizard.

One had to understand that among the Free Mages active on the Plane Battlefield today, Second-level Wizards were already the strongest fighting force.

Higher-level Wizards would almost never stoop to earning merit points this way, and neither Chenxi City nor Red Lotus City would allow combatants of that caliber to carry out special operations or assault missions.

The true stage for those Wizards was elsewhere.

Therefore, Pei Ze’s strength, among the Free Mages of Red Maple City, was without a doubt approaching the very highest tier.

Such a powerful individual unquestionably deserved their reverence.

Pei Ze paid no mind to the looks of awe and adulation from the crowd. He glanced at them and said to Yan Dong and Fang Na, "You two take them and leave first."

Yan Dong and Fang Na quickly agreed.

After witnessing Pei Ze’s astonishing power, the two no longer dared to act as casually as before. A subtle reverence had unconsciously crept into their demeanor and attitude.

Pei Ze waved them off and turned to get busy.

The fortress was quite large, and there were many bodies. It would take forever for just Su Ya and Peng Yan to clean up the battlefield.

’Looks like I need to recruit some familiars.’

Pei Ze mused to himself.

’I can’t be personally cleaning up the battlefield every time. It’s too inefficient.’

Watching Pei Ze depart, Yan Dong didn’t dare to linger. He led the group away from the fortress.

The commotion from the battle just now was so huge, it had most likely attracted the attention of the Turin People. Turin War Chariots could already be on their way.

He and Fang Na weren’t afraid of the Turin War Chariots, but Cheng He and the others hadn’t recovered their strength yet. If a fight broke out, they weren’t confident they could protect everyone else.

After a good half hour, Pei Ze and his two companions finally finished cleaning up the battlefield.

The spoils were surprisingly bountiful.

Peng Yan found a large quantity of processed enchanted metal ingots in several warehouses, stacked so high they nearly filled the rooms.

This was the primary material for making Metal Golems. Turning it in to the exchange would net at least four or five hundred merit points.

In addition, there were small amounts of rare metals and about two hundred liters of Holy Water.

The latter could also be exchanged for merit points, with each liter of Holy Water being worth two merit points.

Furthermore, Pei Ze also obtained four Eye of Cold Winter badges and a two-meter-tall Divine Statue.

"What dense Power of Faith."

Standing before the statue of Lady Frost, Pei Ze marveled as he observed it.

The Power of Faith contained within the statue was at least dozens of times greater than that in an Eye of Cold Winter or the small statue he had found before.

And at the exchange, a Divine Statue like this was worth at least one thousand merit points.

Depending on the amount of Power of Faith it contained, the price could fluctuate upward with no upper limit.

As for the other Eyes of Cold Winter, each could be exchanged for several dozen merit points.

After taking inventory, Pei Ze had gained 1,800 to 1,900 merit points from the spoils of war alone in this attack on Defense Post No. 89, not even counting the mission reward!

"With such a rich haul, it’s no wonder so many Wizards want to attack the Turin People’s defense works."

Pei Ze happily put away the Divine Statue.

This assault on Defense Post No. 89 could be called a bountiful harvest.

Walking out of the fortress, Pei Ze glanced at the scattered wreckage of war chariots around him, then at the Bronze War Chariots circling in the distant sky, and gave a slight, derisive smile.

While they were cleaning the battlefield, patrol chariots of the Turin People had arrived one after another.

However, after three were shot down by the Fog Crows, these Turin War Chariots no longer dared to approach. But they didn’t leave either, instead hovering in the distance to observe the situation.

Pei Ze reckoned that Turin reinforcements were probably on their way.

"Let’s go."

Pei Ze called for Su Ya and Peng Yan to mount the giant eagle and set off.

Although the rewards from this battle were rich, his expenditure had not been low. His Spiritual Power was nearly depleted, one of his five magic tattoos had been used up, and three were on cooldown. He was clearly in no condition for another high-intensity battle.

It was best to hurry back to Red Maple City before more Turin Priests arrived.

The dozen or so Oak Guardians had also long since reverted to their seed forms and been collected by Pei Ze.

Because all four Priests had been tied up by Pei Ze, the Oak Guardians hadn’t suffered much damage. None were destroyed, only taking some injuries which they could quickly recover from in their dormant state.

The Turin War Chariots were no slower than the giant eagle, and they tailed Pei Ze’s group relentlessly.

However, after following for over an hour, perhaps not daring to get too close to Red Maple City, the dozen or so Turin War Chariots finally gave up the chase and turned back.

Pei Ze didn’t mind and simply continued on his way.

Another half an hour later, the silhouette of Red Maple City finally appeared on the horizon.
