Chapter 792: Chapter 640: Barbecue Skewers

Shi Wangyue led Ning Yi and Ning Youyu in decorating the Christmas tree while Ning Youguang was unpacking delivery packages one by one.

Ning Yi brought her two or three bags altogether—two with gift boxes, and one with local specialties.

She opened the bag with the local specialties first and found dried small fish and shrimp inside.

Ning Youguang loved both of these.

"Dad, are the dried fish and shrimp from a river or a lake?"

"From a lake," Ning Yi said. "A few weeks ago, our film crew went to Chenzhou for filming. There’s a lake there with excellent water quality, and right beside it, there’s a store that specializes in selling dried small fish and shrimp. I got you a few bags."

"Thank you, Dad." The specialty might not cost much, but the important thing was remembering she liked it.

"Sis, the dried fish is Yichuyi’s favorite." Ning Youyu called out while hanging small balls on the Australian pine.

"Who’s Yichuyi?" Ning Youguang asked irritably.

"Yichuyi is Wu Li’s cat." Ning Youyu said.

Ning Youguang knew Wu Li was Ning Youyu’s good friend.

The issue wasn’t that Yichuyi particularly loved eating the dried fish—

Ning Youguang was both laughing and crying, holding a bag of dried small fish, momentarily unsure whether she should keep it for herself or offer it and feed the stray cats downstairs.

"Yesterday afternoon after school, Wu Li brought their cat to our home, and you held Yichuyi with him. The two of you and one cat quickly finished a whole bag of dried small fish." Ning Yi didn’t realize Ning Youguang’s dilemma but added more mournfully from the side.

"A bag this big?" Ning Youguang was extremely surprised.

"Yes." Ning Yi was also speechless at the two kids.

Because he had bought a total of four pounds of dried fish, each bag weighing a pound, he gave his daughter two bags and kept the other two at home.

Unexpectedly, the dried fish hadn’t even made it to the dining table when his son and his good friend, holding a cat, quickly finished off one bag.

Eating a whole bag of dried fish wasn’t the problem; the issue arose when his wife happened to come home yesterday afternoon and discovered them devouring the dried fish like it were snacks.

She was so shocked she almost dragged the two kids to the hospital to check if there might be any digestive issues.

And the culprit who gave the kids the dried fish was him, who nearly got nagged to death by his wife last night.

So, hearing his daughter and son talk about dried fish and Yichuyi, he got angry.

Shi Wangyue, off to the side, was also stunned, "Don’t you need to cook the dried fish?"

Ning Youyu didn’t grasp the adults’ disbelief at all and cheerfully said, "No need! Wu Li, Yichuyi, and I ate it directly. It’s super tasty and fragrant."

Using oneself and a cat as examples, Ning Youyu impressed Shi Wangyue and Ning Youguang tremendously.

"You’re amazing!"

"Little Fish is definitely Little Fish."

Ning Youyu was grinning broadly at the praise.

The kid was silly!

Ning Yi shook his head watching from the side.

Ning Youguang thought for a moment, then opened the bag to inspect the dried fish. After observing it, she found the quality of the dried fish to be very good.

Then, she took a piece and chewed it in her mouth, surprisingly finding it salty and edible directly.

That relieved her, "Dad, have you tasted the dried fish?"

"No." Ning Yi said, "But I’ve eaten at a restaurant over there where they stir-fried it with chili and shrimp. It’s really good with rice."

Ning Youguang silently noted Ning Yi’s words.

She decided to have Wangyue stir-fry it tomorrow and give it a try.

Thinking this, she took another piece of dried fish and stuck it in her mouth.

Shi Wangyue saw this scene from afar, and his heart skipped a beat.

He immediately dropped what he was holding and went over to Ning Youguang, reaching into the bag she held to take out a piece of dried fish and tasted it himself. Then he promptly took the entire bag of dried fish from her hands, "You shouldn’t eat too much, or you’ll upset your stomach."

Now Shi Wangyue became the one concerned about the kids’ digestive systems.

Luckily, Ning Yi refocused his attention on the Christmas tree, otherwise there’d be more to worry about.

"I’ll have just a little more." Ning Youguang offered her hands forward to negotiate with Shi Wangyue.

Shi Wangyue reached into the bag and took out five pieces of dried fish, placing them in her palm, "Go ahead, eat."

"It’s too little." Ning Youguang frowned, "Give me more."

"Are you Yichuyi?" Shi Wangyue teased someone before turning around to take both of the dried fish bags and a bag of dried shrimp that Ning Yi brought and put them away entirely.

Even a capitalist wouldn’t be so stingy.

Ning Youguang sighed looking at the five pieces of dried fish in her palm.

After putting away the dried fish and shrimp in the kitchen cupboard, Shi Wangyue quickly returned. He was carrying a dish of washed and cut fruit, "What are we having for lunch?"

He sat next to Ning Youguang and forked up a grape to feed her.

Ning Youguang bit into the grape and turned to ask Ning Yi and his son, "Dad, Little Fish, what would you like to eat for lunch?"

"Grilled skewers!" Ning Yi said.

"Hotpot!" Ning Youyu said.

"Anything else?" Ning Youguang asked again.

"No." Ning Yi and Ning Youyu replied in unison.

"What do we do if there’s no agreement?" Ning Youguang looked at Shi Wangyue.

"Order grilled skewers delivery, and I’ll prepare the hotpot ingredients."

Shi Wangyue immediately decided to satisfy all requests.

Because he knew Ning Yi wanted to eat that today and must be craving it for a long time.

Based on his understanding of Aunt Ming.

Ning Yi surely couldn’t eat grilled skewers often.

It isn’t a lack of quantity but unfair distribution.

Keeping the father-in-law happy meant the younger brother-in-law must be satisfied too.

Ning Youguang agreed, "I’ll order grilled skewers delivery, and you go prepare hotpot ingredients."

Once Shi Wangyue was off to the kitchen, Ning Youguang asked Ning Youyu, "Little Fish, what kind of hotpot do you want?"

"Seafood hotpot!" Ning Youyu said.

"We don’t have seafood at home."

In Little God Doctor Ning’s house, it’s impossible to stock seafood in winter.

Ning Youguang felt she should really have a talk with her brother.

He needed to have some awareness.

Why eat seafood in winter?!

"Then anything will do." Ning Youyu said, "I want it spicy."

"That’s fine." Ning Youguang nodded, "Go to the kitchen now and tell your brother-in-law."

Having said that, she took out her phone, "Dad, come over here."

Ning Yi happily moved next to Ning Youguang, and she handed him the phone, "You order it yourself."

She had already opened a grilled skewer place she thought was quite tasty from personal experience, "The flavor here is good."

"Great." Ning Yi was pleased.

He quickly ordered a whole bunch of things he wanted to eat.

After ordering, he handed the phone back to Ning Youguang and pretended to say, "Oh, your Uncle Cat brought me a few bottles of good wine from Switzerland last month, and I forgot to bring two bottles over for you."

Ning Youguang smiled at her dad; she knew her dad was craving some wine. 1314
