Chapter 214: WHATEVER YOU SAY MY LOVE
The words were spoken so softly that they almost sounded like a plea.
"Never."
Guiying felt his heart squeeze painfully.
For the first time since their reunion, he fully understood how frightened Liuxian had been. The month had been difficult for him, but Liuxian had spent that same month living with uncertainty and fear.
"It’s alright," Guiying said softly as he returned the embrace. "Don’t worry, I won’t give you an ultimatum like that again. If you offend me next time, I’ll just break your head instead."
Liuxian froze.
Then he laughed.
The heavy atmosphere instantly cracked apart.
Guiying poked him in the chest and looked entirely serious despite the ridiculous threat.
"Because of you, I’ve already made plans for my future."
Liuxian raised an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
"I’m going to start Jutsu classes. Then I’m going to improve my English, learn foreign languages and beat you at everything."
Liuxian looked at him for several seconds before another laugh escaped him.
The confidence was admirable.
The practicality was another matter entirely.
"I’ll find the best teachers available," he said without hesitation. "We already have a study room in the estate, and I’ll show it to you when we do the full tour."
Guiying’s eyes immediately brightened.
"There is?"
"There is."
Liuxian brushed a loose strand of hair away from his face and smiled.
"As long as it makes you happy, I’ll arrange whatever you need."
Guiying nodded thoughtfully as though considering something important. Then a brilliant idea suddenly appeared in his mind, causing him to look at Liuxian with complete seriousness.
"In that case, give me twenty million."
Liuxian didn’t even blink.
Guiying continued shamelessly.
"And after my English gets better, I want a ticket to the Maldives. Actually, forget later. I want the money now."
Liuxian looked at him for several moments before reaching for his phone.
Guiying frowned immediately.
"What are you doing?"
"If it’s money you want, I’ll give it to you."
The answer came so naturally that Guiying almost thought he had imagined it.
Several taps later, Liuxian lowered the phone and returned it to his pocket. The entire process had taken less than a minute.
"Done."
Guiying stared at him.
"Done?"
Liuxian nodded.
"Done."
Suspicion immediately filled Guiying’s heart.
Nobody transferred twenty million that quickly.
Before he could question it further, his phone suddenly vibrated inside his pocket. The notification sound echoed through the room, drawing both of their attention.
Guiying slowly pulled out the device and unlocked the screen.
Then he froze.
His eyes widened as he stared at the number displayed before him. The longer he looked at it, the more certain he became that he wasn’t imagining things.
"Liuxian."
His voice sounded strange.
Liuxian looked completely calm.
"Yes?"
Guiying slowly raised his head.
"There is forty million in my account."
Liuxian nodded.
"I know."
"You were supposed to send twenty."
Liuxian looked genuinely confused by the complaint.
"I did."
Guiying stared at him in disbelief.
Liuxian stared back with equal confusion, and for several seconds neither man understood the other.
Then realization finally dawned on Guiying.
A horrified expression appeared on his face.
"You actually think twenty million isn’t a lot of money."
Liuxian considered the question carefully before answering with complete honesty.
"Not particularly."
Guiying looked down at the notification again.
Then he looked at his husband.
Then he looked at the notification once more.
A month ago he had been living in Shili Village, helping Auntie Mo wash vegetables and eating meals with Granny Wu. Now forty million had casually appeared in his account because his husband apparently considered twenty million too little.
The contrast was so absurd that he genuinely didn’t know what to say.
Liuxian gently patted his head.
"Is it enough?"
Guiying immediately locked his phone and shoved it into his pocket.
Then he looked at Liuxian as though the man had completely lost his mind.
"Don’t ask questions you already know the answer to."
Liuxian laughed.
Meanwhile, Guiying silently decided that perhaps being married to a billionaire wasn’t such a terrible arrangement after all.
Before Liuxian could say anything else, Guiying grabbed his hand and started pulling him toward the bed. Liuxian followed willingly and allowed himself to be dragged along, looking entirely too pleased with himself for someone who had just casually transferred forty million into another person’s account.
"Come on."
Liuxian settled beside him and raised an eyebrow.
"Where are we going?"
Guiying looked at him as though the answer should have been obvious. He pointed directly at the dark circles beneath Liuxian’s eyes before giving him a disapproving look.
"To sleep. You have dark circles under your eyes, you’ve lost weight and you look exhausted. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve barely slept this entire month."
Liuxian opened his mouth as though he intended to defend himself. Unfortunately, the words never came because every accusation was completely true.
Guiying looked extremely satisfied by the silence.
"We’re taking a nap."
He shifted further onto the bed and made himself comfortable against the pillows before continuing his plans. The more he thought about the estate, the more excited he became.
"Then when we wake up, we can go for a stroll around the gardens. I want to see the greenhouses properly, and I want to see all the places you keep talking about."
A smile slowly spread across his face as the ideas continued coming.
"We can walk around the estate together and maybe have dinner outside. Actually, wait a minute."
Guiying suddenly paused and reached for his phone.
"Let me check the time first."
Liuxian watched him with amusement while he unlocked the screen and checked the clock. Several seconds later, Guiying’s eyes lit up as though he had just discovered something important.
"It’s still early."
He immediately looked up.
"We don’t even have to wait until dinner. We can have lunch outside instead."
The excitement in his voice was impossible to miss.
"I think that’ll be fun."
Liuxian couldn’t stop himself from smiling. After spending an entire month wondering where Guiying was, listening to him happily make plans for the afternoon felt far more precious than any business deal or meeting waiting for him elsewhere.
"Whatever you say, my love."
He gently lifted Guiying’s hand and pressed a kiss against his knuckles before intertwining their fingers together.
"We’ll only do what you want today."
Guiying’s ears immediately warmed.
The gesture shouldn’t have affected him that much, yet the tenderness behind it made his heart beat slightly faster.
"Good."
Liuxian laughed softly.
The attempt to appear unaffected had failed completely.
Guiying immediately pointed toward the empty side of the bed.
"Stop laughing and lie down. You need the sleep more than I do."
Liuxian looked at him quietly for a moment before obeying without complaint. The moment he settled onto the mattress, Guiying shifted closer and automatically rested against his side as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
Neither of them commented on it.
The habit had become far too familiar.
Warm sunlight filtered through the floor-to-ceiling windows while a comfortable silence settled around them. For the first time in an entire month, Liuxian wasn’t thinking about search teams, unanswered calls or the possibility that something terrible had happened.
Guiying was beside him again, safe and finally home.
The simple realization eased something deep inside his chest.
His arm slipped around Guiying’s waist while Guiying curled slightly closer, clearly acting on instinct rather than conscious thought. The tension that had followed Liuxian for weeks slowly began to disappear now that the person he loved was finally within reach.
Guiying tilted his head and studied him carefully.
Even now, Liuxian still looked tired.
The dark circles remained beneath his eyes, and despite the smile on his face, the exhaustion from the past month hadn’t disappeared completely.
Without thinking too much about it, Guiying lifted his hand and gently patted Liuxian’s head.
"There, there."
Liuxian blinked.
The reaction was immediate and unexpectedly adorable.
Guiying gave him another pat.
"You did a good job."
For several seconds, Liuxian simply stared at him.
The expression on his face became so complicated that Guiying couldn’t tell whether the man wanted to laugh, cry or drag him into another hug.
So he patted him again.
"Now stop worrying so much."
His voice softened slightly.
"I’m home."
Something in Liuxian’s expression immediately melted.
The last traces of tension disappeared from his shoulders as he looked at the man lying beside him, and a helpless smile slowly appeared on his face.
"Yes, dear."
Satisfied with the answer, Guiying nodded and snuggled closer. The movement was completely unconscious, yet Liuxian’s smile deepened almost immediately.
"Good."
Liuxian lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss against Guiying’s hair before tightening his arm around him slightly. Outside, the estate continued its daily routine beneath the afternoon sun, but inside the room everything felt peaceful and still.
For the first time in an entire month, Liuxian wasn’t searching, worrying or waiting for a phone call. Guiying was here, safe in his arms, and that alone was enough to let him finally rest.
As the warmth of the afternoon settled around them, both men slowly drifted toward sleep. This time, when Liuxian closed his eyes, he didn’t have to worry about waking up alone.
