Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Just Found Out She Was Leaving

"The Captain said she had something else to attend to."

Jessica Vance and the others only found out early this morning that Nina Jacobs was leaving ahead of schedule.

Before she left, Nina Jacobs had called them all together for a meeting.

She also left behind some defensive weapons, including the Golden Silk Armor.

"What is she off to do? Why didn’t she mention it before?"

Adrian Shaw asked, frowning.

If it was something difficult, they obviously could have helped.

"She didn’t say, but I’m used to this from her."

Leo Hale replied with a sense of resignation.

He was holding a strange-looking Metal Sword. The blade was very light and was supposedly from Alistair White, but he couldn’t yet see any use for the thick metal blade.

’But since Nina gave it to him, it had to be something good.’

"There are some things the Captain can indeed handle on her own. She probably doesn’t want to put everyone in danger,

and besides, the Captain left a mission for us."

Holden Shaw felt a bit better after hearing Chase Gallagher’s words.

Nina Jacobs had left them two tasks before she departed. The first was to help Adrian Shaw and his group return to the base safely.

The second was for them to become Intermediate Superpower Users within three months.

While Nina Jacobs was away, Chase Gallagher would serve as the acting leader.

They had all agreed that even after returning to the base, they would lead Stella to grow and improve together.

Adrian Shaw nodded, accepting the situation for the time being.

Then he saw Shirley Lucas squatting off to the side, muttering resentfully, "Summer went off to have fun without me, without me..."

"Don’t worry. She didn’t take you, but she did take Wayne Warner."

At Adrian Shaw’s words, Shirley Lucas looked even more devastated. "Damn it, is it because I talk too much?"

"As long as you know."

Adrian Shaw was more than happy to watch Shirley Lucas’s moment of self-deprecation. He took out the Lightning Attraction Lock that Nina Jacobs had given him yesterday, deciding to go test it out and see how it worked.

Meanwhile, Nina Jacobs had already led Wayne Warner to another mountain within the Mornfell range.

It was a place they had never ventured into before.

She planned to complete Mission 7 with Wayne Warner over the next two days before leaving Mornfell.

The reward for Mission 7 was 80,000 System Experience Points, which she could claim after just over 70 more kills.

Mission 7 was also the final of the seven-day missions.

"We’ll probably stay here for the night. Have you had enough to eat the last few days?"

Nina Jacobs asked as they walked.

They had been rushing through the mountains for the past two days, leaving little time for meals.

Even when they did eat, it was just the dry rations Shirley Lucas had provided, accompanied by a few cartons of milk at best.

Wayne Warner most likely hadn’t had his fill.

At her words, Wayne Warner shook his head, then quickly nodded.

Nina Jacobs couldn’t help but smile. "You’ll get a proper meal today."

She had just released a few Little Zombie Rats, sending them to search the surrounding area for any sign of Mutated Animals.

As for her, she decided to find a clean, flat area and wait for the Mutated Animals to come to them.

Animals are sensitive to scents, and Mutated Animals are even more so.

Rather than expend effort searching for them, it was better to lure them in.

The two of them soon found a relatively high, flat stone ledge.

Nina Jacobs took out a folding table and chairs, various foods previously prepared by Walsh, and even some braised meats, like chicken and goose.

"The Mutated Animals probably won’t show up that quickly."

Nina Jacobs motioned for Wayne Warner to eat something first; after all, they had set out early and hadn’t even had breakfast.

Having not eaten this kind of food for a long time, Wayne Warner quickly began to feast. freewёbnoνel.com

When Wayne Warner tore off a chicken leg and placed it in front of her, Nina Jacobs accepted it.

The chicken leg was still warm, and paired with the vegetable buns and soy milk Walsh had made, it made for a delicious meal.

Nina Jacobs usually ate very quickly—a habit from her past life. Finishing the last of her soy milk, she wiped her mouth with a napkin and said to Wayne Warner, who was still wolfing down his food,

"Take your time. I’m going to get a little exercise."

"Mhm."

Wayne Warner watched her as he ate, seeing Nina Jacobs stand up and unleash her Superpower at a spot in the distance.

A Fireball instantly ignited the spot, followed by the sound of something heavy crashing down and thrashing against the ground.

An ambushing python that had been hiding underground was enraged, and it lunged at Nina Jacobs with its massive jaws wide open!

Pythons excelled at silent ambushes.

However, Nina Jacobs had already spotted it from one of her rats’ perspectives while she was eating.

The python had now reared up the upper half of its body, its head towering so high that Nina Jacobs had to tilt her own head back to see it.

Remembering the Gold Element Superpower she had just awakened, Nina Jacobs swiped a single hand in front of her, creating a silver blade out of thin air.

The blade flashed with a cold light and, with a WHOOSH, shot toward the python!

’It’s a bit faster than the Earth Element Superpower.’

Nina Jacobs murmured to herself. The Gold Element Superpower was unfamiliar to her, but the destructive power and reaction speed of the Intermediate Gold Ability were impressive.

In just a few moments, the python could no longer hold its ground.

The blade slashed past its lower jaw, and the snake’s body crashed heavily to the ground.

To Nina Jacobs’s surprise, a human figure came tumbling out from a gash on the snake’s belly.

’Is that someone it just swallowed?’

Nina Jacobs glanced at the person covered in blood and slime; it appeared to be a strange man.

’He’s not a Bishop Clan Member. He must be from the foot of the mountain, but who knows how he ended up in a python’s stomach.’

She thought the man was already dead, but then his leg twitched twice.

Through the blood and gore on his face, Nina Jacobs met a pair of starkly clear eyes.

The next second, the man sprang to his feet.

Even though he was covered in blood, Nina Jacobs could see the wary expression on his face.

"Who are you? How did I get here?"

The man’s voice was a bit hoarse. He first surveyed his surroundings, then looked down at himself, a hint of disgust on his face.

"You rolled out of its body after I killed it."

Seeing how nimbly the man moved, Nina Jacobs figured he wasn’t seriously injured.

He just looked a mess.

"So you’re the one who saved me?" the man asked.

’Saved him?’

"It was just a coincidence."

Nina Jacobs turned to leave. A moment ago, she had indeed triggered the "Selfless Savior" title.

And had received 1,700 bottles of Healing Potion.

In other words, by saving this one person, she had indirectly saved over 1,700 others.

’His identity must be significant,’ she guessed, ’and he’s probably not some archvillain.’

"Could you spare some food?"

The man saw Wayne Warner still eating in the distance and rubbed his stomach, which hadn’t had food in days.

"Sure."

Nina Jacobs didn’t refuse. She walked to the stone ledge and pretended to pull a can of preserved meat, a packet of dry biscuits, and some water from her backpack.

She noticed that the man was still standing where he was, making no move to approach or get closer.

’He has a sense of propriety.’

Nina Jacobs packed the items into a cloth bag and handed it to him.

The man’s face was a clear picture of surprise.

"Thank you."

With that, the man turned and left.

Nina Jacobs didn’t place the mutated snake’s corpse into her storage space. Sure enough, the scent of blood from the carcass attracted one Mutated Animal after another.

After quickly finishing all the food on the table, Wayne Warner joined Nina Jacobs in the fight.

Only when no more Mutated Animals appeared did Nina Jacobs finally incinerate the mutated snake’s corpse.

Mutated snake bodies were often highly venomous, and since Nina Jacobs couldn’t tell the difference, she had no plans to store the corpse for other uses.

"Let’s go to the next location."

It seemed her rat had found something else extraordinary.
