Chapter 471: Chapter 379: What Exactly is that Plan? (6K6)_2

"That’s right, I even surfed the internet; speaking of which, back when you visited that ’Contemporary Firefighting’ site..."

Fang Huai sighed, patted Li Kui’s sturdy back, and interrupted him.

At that light pat, Li Kui’s body immediately trembled, his speech halted, and he stepped back half a step.

On seeing this, Fang Huai said, somewhat speechlessly:

"Big brother, everyone else is practicing diving over there, and you’re just swimming, and they even let you use a lifebuoy. Isn’t that considerate enough? Are you here to perform a comic dialogue for me? Are you going into the water or not? If not, I’m going to have to ask you down."

Li Kui’s pupils dilated, and the hands he held behind his back went down, grabbing his buttocks, as he glared and shouted:

"I’m telling you, don’t kick me today! Kick me again, and I’ll be mad at you!"

"Well, then get in!"

"Give me a moment to get ready! This isn’t a swimming pool, it’s a lake! It’s dangerous!"

Fang Huai’s mouth twitched, "What now? You miss the children’s area in the swimming pool? You’ve been getting ready here for half an hour! Do you see that? Others have already learned to use fins! This is crash-course diving, not a kiddie swimming class! When kids learn to swim, they’re thrown straight into the water!

I’ve arranged one-on-one coaching for you, even bought you swim goggles today, so don’t waste my time!"

With that, he pointed to a bunch of soldiers practicing with frog fins by the water’s edge, propped against the concrete shoreline wall.

Half of them were in the water, while the other half were waiting on land because there wasn’t enough diving gear brought by the diving training instructor.

Those waiting all had faces full of anticipation.

Firefighting did include diving training, which Fang Huai had learned.

But that was after being promoted to a non-commissioned officer. Back then, it wasn’t widely popular, especially in inland cities. The equipment and training costs were pretty expensive, and the firefighting detachments generally hadn’t signed many contracts with civilian diving companies yet.

This kind of training for all personnel was something everyone looked forward to.

Upon hearing this, Li Kui’s face reddened, feeling like he had lost face, and being genuinely afraid of water, he could only mutter resentfully, "Hey, go ahead and learn! Stop worrying about me!"

Finally, Fang Huai couldn’t hold back any longer; he stepped back swiftly and delivered a kick.

Li Kui immediately lurched toward the edge; his body instantly lost balance, and his arms swirled in large circles in the air.

"Hey, hey!"

"Splash!"

"Help, I’m... gurgle gurgle..." frёewebηovel.cѳm

At first, Li Kui struggled; his arms encircling the lifebuoy kept bobbing him up and down.

Fang Huai followed him into the water, propping him up, but struggled to handle the brawny man’s wild thrashing, and, suppressing the urge to clout him, he yelled:

"Stop moving! The more you flail, the more water you’ll swallow! Spread your arms, and you’ll float!"

Those nearby heard the noise and all turned to look, starting to laugh.

"Li Kui is starting to refill his cup! Today’s water is all-natural, no disinfectant powder; it must taste great!"

"Hey, Number 1, when is Captain Hu coming back?"

Fang Huai replied irritably, "What’s it to you? Think my training is too easy, and you want some additional training?"

"...Easy where? I heard that Captain Hu has us swimming 1500 meters a day, and you added another 500!"

Fang Huai said with a forced smile, "Cherish it! We have three days for the diving course, just three! Once the water rescue assessment’s over, we’re off on the march, 35 kilometers every day! Plus mountaineering training! Take this opportunity to toughen up the calluses on your feet!"

Everybody suddenly fell silent, each beginning to treasure this moment of tranquility free from pressure on their soles.

Old Hu had been gone a week.

He was supposed to return after one week, but once he left, he found that things didn’t always go as planned. It was the preparation period for the Olympic Games, and the Ministry was so busy they barely had time to bother with this. The meetings were over, the plan had been reported, but without a firm decision from leadership, it wouldn’t be easy for him to leave.

During this week, Fang Huai racked his brains to train everyone in water-based courses, periodically quizzing them on things they had learned before to reinforce their memory.

The entire training didn’t follow the plan he had designed, which categorized by disaster type, but rather by capability.

The teaching plan currently assigned to him was roughly divided into several parts: ropes, cross-country, search, ground coordination, water rescue, and climbing.

There must have been more, as Old Hu had taken a file bag with him when he gave Fang Huai the materials.

From what he could see, he had almost finished teaching everything. Climbing was mostly combined with ropes and the essential SRT gear, ascenders, and descenders everyone had almost mastered, so climbing should not be a problem.

There was also mountaineering training, likely to be completed at Mount Tai.

The search and rescue teaching, because of the May earthquake, most of the firefighting rescue dogs were injured. Those that didn’t perish were recuperating. Hu Peizhou had seen the overworked condition of the rescue dogs on the earthquake site, so this period didn’t include a subject involving rescue dogs.

Some search and rescue subjects that mainly relied on manpower had actually been integrated into other subjects.

Ground coordination search and rescues were completed in training coordinated with helicopters.

Water rescue, visual search, electronic search, and night search were several key subjects currently being taught.

Ground search, like the grid search, mainly involved good division of labor and allocation of energy.

The division of labor wasn’t taught; it depended purely on personal insight.

Everyone had already become aware of this from the third day, starting to form rotating groups for the grid search. The others could conserve as much energy as possible.

And because of the presence of search dogs and instruments, the main task wasn’t on the people; the most important task was rescue.

Secondly, it was to combine emergency medical knowledge to perform simple on-site first aid.
