Chapter 7: Aidan’s Decision
On the rooftop, Aidan and Beatrix sat at a table. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
’Rawr! Rawr!’
Suddenly, Arthur said something to Aidan.
’Huh? You want to come out? And you can change your appearance?’
Suddenly, Arthur appeared, but not as a dragon. Instead, he appeared as a kitten with wings with similar design as his dragon form.
Looking at the people around, Arthur’s eyes shone.
Beatrix was startled. "What the....is that Arthur?"
"Yeah, in his disguise form." Aidan wryly smiled.
Arthur turned to Aidan. "Meow!"
Hearing Arthur’s words, Aidan almost choked on the water he was drinking.
"What happened?" Beatrix blinked.
Arthur tilted his head, confused.
"This guy..." Aidan smiled wryly. "He’s asking me if these people are his food. No, you fool. They are not the food. The food will come soon, so wait."
Beatrix chuckled.
"Anyway, Aidan. You’re a free man now. All the top guilds will try to recruit you once you reveal your dragon, and the Blue Vortex Guild which is ranked 34th in global guild leaderboard certainly can’t compete with top guilds in terms of resources, power, and benefits."
"So if you don’t want to join Blue Vortex, it’s fine."
Aidan tapped his fingers on the comfy armrest of the couch chair, thinking. "I think it would be best if my life remains a bit private."
"Private?" Beatrix blinked. "You don’t want the fame, attention, resources, and connections that comes with your talent?"
"Umm, nope. Not at all now that I think about those things." Aidan rolled his eyes. "That sounds like a rabbit hole where things would end up in disaster."
"Why do you say that?" Beatrix asked, curious. "Just what did you experience?"
Aidan tilted his head before cracking his neck and smiling, his lips twitching a bit before he spoke. "Again, don’t ever ask me that. Look, I might look normal, or well, maybe not, but trust me, I am not stable and I’ve realized that. I need to live a life in some way, and I have to find that way first.’
[Yes. You must vent your anger steadily instead of increasing it. 97.1% left after the previous venting in the Terror Tear.]
’What the fuck? All that venting was just 0.2%?!’ Aidan’s vein popped.
[Remain calm. I am just stating a fact.]
Aidan took a deep breath.
"Okay. I think I see it." Beatrix wryly smiled. "Either way, this development is good for me. If you want to live a rather relaxing and incognito life, we can do things that way."
"But your childhood sweetheart is in the Divine Nexus Guild, which is currently the undisputed rank 1 guild in terms of resources and power. They’ll also welcome you with open arms."
Beatrix smiled as she added. "Hina, right? As for her Hunter name, it’s Princess Gloom. Befitting of her power."
"Sounds awful." Aidan scoffed. "And she is a stranger to me now. I’ll stay in Blue Vortex and chill. I want to live in a way that will help me feel good and also help me vent some anger."
"Anger?" Beatrix blinked. "Are you angry?"
"Ugh... It’s complicated."
"Is it related to why the three Terror Tears appeared around my home?" Beatrix narrowed her eyes as she speculated based on her observations.
The Terror General was going to Aidan while ignoring her, and this anomaly was strange. And the only other strange thing in that place was Aidan.
"Well... yeah." Aidan nodded. "Putting that aside, what’s your plan regarding my new life? Personally, I would like to start as a hunter with enough qualification to enter a Tier-3 Terrorized Dimension."
The food arrived.
Plates of cooked lamb and chicken, kebab, veg-meat salaad, and veg-meat rolls.
"Tier-3 Terrorized Dimension? Why Tier-3?" Beatrix asked, confused. "That said, if you go into a Tier-3 Terrorized Dimension, Arthur can’t stay there."
"Eh? Why?" Aidan frowned.
"That’s the law of Terrorized Dimensions. A Tier-3 Terrorized Dimension can only have powers up to the peak of Tier-3. Anything beyond that ceases to exist if you bring it in. People above Tier-3 who enter there have their stats suppressed to the peak of Tier-3. Arthur is a living being, so he will be expelled into your summoner space since you have it, unable to be summoned while you are inside."
"I see..." Aidan’s mouth was watering just from the smell, so he started eating. "Yum! Now this is food!"
Beatrix rolled her eyes.
"You sound like I fed you shit."
"It wasn’t that bad." Aidan grinned and continued eating.
"Well, eat up. The stronger you become, the more quality and quantity of food you will need to sustain yourself. Terrorized Dimensions have real monsters with solid meat, unlike Terrors that can’t be eaten. All tiers of monster meat are always in demand."
Beatrix picked up a knife and fork before she continued. "As for your new life, I’ve got it handled. You can join Blue Vortex guild as a C-rank Hunter, which will give you qualification to enter up to Tier-4 Terrorized Dimension. There will be one problem. You’ll have to pass the C-rank Hunter exam at a branch of Global Hunter Association to get a C-rank Hunter ID card. You can’t pull out Arthur there, obviously."
Aidan nodded. "No problem. I’ll need some time to prepare."
"Do you have any other capabilities?" Beatrix blinked. "If you can summon a Tier-4 being, that’d work as well, but it better have enough combat power to clear the C-rank hunter exam."
"And of course," she smiled and added. "I am not doing everything for you for free, so consider this a favour. I am open to being friends as well. After all, you are obviously going to be pretty strong, and I could benefit from such friendship."
Aidan looked at her. "Let’s keep this casual for now. Less than a friend, but more than acquaintance."
"Even though i’ve seen your whole body inside out?" Beatrix chuckled.
Aidan rolled his eyes.
...
After eating, they returned to the mansion on the outskirts of City G.
"Well, you got no place to live for now, so you can stay here if you want to."
"Thanks, I’ll do that. Though for now, I’m going for a sky ride."
Arthur wanted to fly around, so Aidan decided to go for a ride in the skies, and well, do some important stuff that better remain a secret to only himself.
Arthur roared in jubilation and sped up soon after taking off with Aidan, rocketing away.
’Th-This is too fast! Slow down a bit, boy!’ Aidan quickly relayed to Arthur mentally as he tightly gripped the scale edges on Arthur’s back.
"Rawr...."
Although sounding dejected, Arthur decreased his speed.
"This mana, I have to learn how to use it." Aidan muttered as he unleashed mana and controlled it, creating a barrier around himself.
"Huh, it wasn’t that hard." Aidan touched the barrier. "Hmm, it is solid, but I suppose if I focus on its in-depth structure, I can mould it better."
The barrier became sleek and shining.
He remembered there were Mana Techniques that all Hunters could learn and become proficient in. They were really useful as well as powerful.
’Wait, given my Health stat, I seem to have a huge amount of mana and stamina.’ Aidan blinked. ’I won’t run out of them easily.’
[Yes, Player Aidan. But as your body and soul are too healthy for your current lifeform source, while your other parameters are lower, you are consuming mana constantly to sustain your powerful body and soul. You have 87 hours until your body starts eating itself, and then 13 hours before you die by hunger. You must consume at least Tier-10 food and above to replenish.]
’The fuck?’ Aidan was speechless before he sighed.
"It looks like we’ll have to hunt for food constantly, buddy."
"Roar! Roar!"
Arthur flew around happily as if he had just heard amazing news.
Aidan laughed.
"Yeah, of course, you’ll be happy."
"But for now, I should properly check my title and the talents."
