Chapter 38: Failed

"So we have a secret super powerhouse? Damn."

"But why stay anonymous?"

"We were saved. That’s all that matters. I am grateful to that person."

The entire world was talking about the mysterious powerhouse that saved them.

The Global Hunter Association also released a video and announced all over the world, requesting to meet the powerhouse.

Beatrix saw all the top hunters from the guilds and the Association gathering at the GHA headquarters’ main lobby and shooting a request video... all the while she was fairly sure who and where this mysterious powerhouse was.

’Aidan...’ Beatrix saw the top hunters talking to each other as she stood in a corner with two guildmates.

’He doesn’t want an annoying life, so I suppose he wouldn’t show himself.’

’But how did he do that? Did he summon a Divine-rank monster?’

"I’ll get going. I remembered I had to do something."

Beatrix took her leave, got in her aircar, and flew a few thousand kilometers before arriving at the outskirts of City H.

Beatrix looked at the barriers. ’Such heavy security?’

She touched the barrier, and suddenly, a mysterious cat with odd-colored eyes appeared next to her.

"Who are you, human?"

Beatrix was startled. Turning her head to the cat, she blinked. ’Is this his new summon? I can’t measure its aura.’

"Were you the one who released that attack and scared the Galactic Alliance?" she asked curiously as her hand went to pat the cat’s head.

Tom smoothly evaded her hand and snorted. "Of course not. It was my master."

"Aidan did that?" Beatrix was shocked. "No way."

"Ignorant woman, humph. Anyway, come inside. I see your thread connected to my master in a peaceful way. It seems you both know each other."

Tom opened the barrier a bit and went inside first.

Beatrix followed, and they soon arrived at a beautiful garden.

A big tree acted like a giant umbrella as Aidan was sleeping under its shade.

Solenne was also there a few meters away, doing steady and precise movement training for her recently acquired technique.

Aidan’s eyes fluttered open shortly, his consciousness waking.

Grrrr....

A loud rumble echoed from his stomach.

"Urgh... I’m starving." Aidan looked visibly drained. "That attack drained me."

"How did you do that?" Beatrix asked while glancing at Solenne. "And who is she?"

"I am Solenne. A subordinate of Master Aidan," Solenne answered before Aidan could say anything.

"Master Aidan?" Beatrix’s eyes widened. She narrowed her eyes at Aidan, almost glaring. "You... don’t tell me you gained some power that can enslave others?"

Aidan was speechless. "Are you crazy? Of course not. She was in trouble, and I saved her. It’s as simple as that. She can’t live alone, so I decided to make her my subordinate."

Standing up, he rubbed his stomach before taking out a big chunk of raw meat, breaking it down with Mana and eating it to regain some energy.

"Urgh, that tasted horrible." Aidan was teary-eyed. "Take me to a super chef who can cook this Tier-10 meat, please. I want to eat tasty cooked Tier-10 food."

Tom sat down on Aidan’s shoulder. "I agree. I was watching TV, and I saw food. It looks delicious."

Beatrix laughed. "Well, I know a place."

"Wait. Don’t help me with this directly." Aidan cracked his neck. "I am bored, so I want to do something. Just tell me where I can find the best chef on this planet."

’The recent burst of anger was terrible. I need to chill and get some entertainment.’ Aidan internally sighed.

"The best chef... Well, if you appear as the mysterious powerhouse, you can indeed get the best chef with just a word." Beatrix smiled.

Aidan shook his head. "Nah, screw that."

"Well, if you want to get the best chef to make you food, you’d have to go to the fifth-ranked guild, Blazeworth. One of their vice leaders is a top chef. There are multiple hunters at Epic-rank who cook good food, but Blazeworth’s Jiran Patir is the best when it comes to taste. His restaurant already has over a year of advance bookings, and he only cooks one or two days a week, though sometimes more if he is free."

"Blazeworth?" Aidan remembered hearing this name from the manager when he went to sell the Tier-10 cores and monster parts.

"Got it." Aidan then looked at Solenne. "Can you put her in one of our guild’s Tier-8 Terrorized Dimensions? She’ll want some practical training." free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Sure, Your Highness." Beatrix chuckled.

...

Beatrix was smart, and she wasn’t about to let go of this golden thigh known as Aidan.

Aidan wore his mask, changed his looks, and went with Tom towards City L, where the headquarters of Blazeworth Guild was located.

"Master, what’s the plan?"

"No idea. Let’s just go take a look first." Aidan lay on the comfortable flying couch he created with wind, epoxy, blood, and Spiral Flow.

"I am trying to control my mind to think less." Aidan yawned. "And if I think, I should think about creatively using my aspects to make techniques."

"For all the other bullshit this world has to offer, I don’t want to let my brain cells get consumed by it." Aidan took a deep breath and smiled. "Yes, this is peaceful."

Tom rolled his eyes. "Only idiots can escape from the tangles of this world. The deluded ones."

Aidan clicked his tongue. "Can’t deny it."

"Anyway. I can summon again since it’s been over a day, but this time, I want a Divine-rank powerhouse. Can you use your fate-whatever power to make it so that my summoning reaches those levels of beings?"

Tom blinked thoughtfully. "I can."

"Nice!" Aidan grinned. "Let’s do it."

Five minutes later, Aidan lay on the couch dejectedly. "The hell, man...."

"Shit happens. That’s life." Tom licked his paws as he replied. "That person was dying and still refused to sign the contract. He didn’t want to call anyone his master."

Thanks to Tom, Aidan connected with a Divine-rank gray-bearded man who had just defeated and killed his Divine-rank opponent, destroying mountains and seas all around. But the gray-bearded man was also fatally wounded, and his opponent seemed to have given it all to die together instead of getting killed alone.

Aidan could save him, but the portal wouldn’t open unless that man accepted his contract, and he didn’t.

"He looked sad, though." Aidan sighed. "His eyes... he had lost everyone dear to him, and he had no will to live anymore."

"Indeed. All threads connected to him had withered away." Tom nodded. "One thread was about to connect to him. Yours. But he rejected it, alas."

Aidan violently shook his head and slapped his cheeks. "Fucking hell. I want fun and chill and entertainment, not depressing stuff."

"Let’s see what daily quest I got today. It would be good if I could complete it in City L."

Aidan went to his status and was surprised.

Not one, but two daily quests!

One even gave him 500 Transcendent Points!

The other gave him 1 × Talent Stone and 1 × Mystery Box!
