Chapter 105: Chapter 97: Please Teach Me Magic

"Haha~"

Teasing laughter filled the carriage. The carriage drove on without stopping, even as the sun began to set.

They planned to travel through the night to get back to Roland Town sooner.

----------

The next morning’s sunlight shone down on the weary horses as the silhouette of Roland Town finally appeared on the horizon.

Flora simply sat at the front of the carriage, and not a single guard dared to approach for questions or an inspection. The carriage entered the town without a hitch.

To avoid any mishaps, they didn’t split up. Instead, they went together to find Rick, Solan, and Carson, who had returned earlier, and told them everything. A few hours later, all the members of the Bull Run Squad, including their families, had gathered at the Alton Family’s home.

Along the way, they also made a stop at the Adventurer’s Association to submit their quests.

With the village chief’s written testimony, the rescue operation was successfully logged as two E Level Tasks. For his outstanding contributions, Lin Mo was additionally credited with one D Level Task.

As for the quest rewards, besides their daily base pay, the squad had killed 469 Goblins two nights prior. They had taken down several hundred more while rescuing the captured girls, and even after excluding those completely obliterated by Flora’s large-scale Magic, leaving no ears to collect, they had proof for nearly 200 more.

After learning the details of the mission, the Association doubled the reward on top of the original amount, bringing the price for a single Goblin ear to an astonishing 10 Silver Coins!

Thus, the total number of Goblin ears they had on hand came to 763, for a total income of 76 Gold and 30 Silver.

Although it couldn’t compare to their haul from the last trip, that one had been for three quests combined and had included a bounty for an Earth Bear of at least Level 1.3.

With the Association’s generous bonus, the reward for this mission was already quite good.

On top of that, there were three adult and five sub-adult Mutated Goblins. After the reward was doubled, this came to another 45 Gold Coins. However, since Lin Mo had killed four of them by himself, only about half of that amount was counted toward the team’s earnings.

Finally, there was the Goblin Caster, also killed by Lin Mo alone. The Association offered a ridiculously high price for it.

For that one kill alone, the reward was 40 Gold!

All told, the Bull Run Squad’s total income amounted to 102 Gold and 30 Silver. Following the same 30% cut as before, Lin Mo’s share of the reward came to 30 Gold; they didn’t bother with the spare change.

Adding the rewards for his solo kills on the Mutated Goblins and the Goblin Caster, his total income was 30 + 19 + 40, coming to an astonishing 89 Gold Coins!

Including his previous savings, Lin Mo’s total funds had now reached 157 Gold, 64 Silver, and 13 Copper. Even for a Professional, this was a considerable fortune—enough to buy ten Basic Life Potions or a full set of high-quality Plate Armor.

On a side note, because her only... well, her two only friends, Ali and Lin Mo, were leaving, when they went to say goodbye to Lena, the Little Cat Girl receptionist at the Association, she unhesitatingly decided to join them and go to Silver Stream City as well.

Ali was naturally overjoyed by this, and Lin Mo welcomed her as well. ’If I went to a new city and couldn’t see the cute Little Cat Girl at the Adventurer’s Association, I’d feel like something was missing.’

In addition, he paid a visit to Edgar’s smithy to say his goodbyes.

Edgar was a businessman, after all, so he couldn’t just up and leave. He stood on a chair and gave Lin Mo a punch on the chest. "Be careful in the new place," he said. "Don’t let me down—I’m waiting for you to get famous and be my advertisement... If you really can’t make it, just come back. You’ll earn less in a small place, but it’s stable."

The young Dwarf Boss’s words were a bit contradictory, but Lin Mo just smiled and replied, "You keep smithing well, too. I’ll be waiting for you to open a branch over there."

He didn’t tell Edgar the reason he was leaving; it was better that he didn’t know. However, there was no need to worry about Baron Lael or the Lawrence Clan causing trouble for Edgar. Unlike Half-Beastmen, Dwarves had their own Kingdom and influence. They were a unified people and were on good terms with many Adventurers. Although Edgar ran a shop in town, Baron Lael actually had no authority over him besides collecting taxes and wouldn’t dare try any funny business.

Otherwise, it would become a diplomatic incident...

At a critical time like this, when they had already stirred up trouble, even if you gave the Baron and Lawrence ten times the courage, they would never dare to touch Edgar.

After taking care of all this, it was nearly noon. The group had a meal at a tavern, then rented several carriages to leave the town.

During this time, they noticed they were being watched, but with Flora around, there was no need to worry about anyone making a move.

If they really dared to try anything, Flora would be able to skip the investigation and would have a direct excuse to pay their masters a visit.

The carriages left the town, pulling farther and farther away. Lin Mo looked back and took one last, long look at the walls of Roland Town. As the distance grew, the town gate in his vision gradually shrank until it was just a thin line.

Next up was a new life, a new adventure...

Flora sat upright in the most luxurious carriage. She lifted the curtain and gently raised her hand.

The next moment, a series of explosions suddenly echoed through the forest. One after another, the bodies of black-clad figures fell from the treetops. freewebnσvel.cѳm

To be honest, Flora didn’t mind these petty little moves. After all, every time Lawrence pulled a similar stunt, he sent a wave of his dogs over to amuse her.

With the many Adventurers of the Bull Run Squad in the convoy, the journey was naturally smooth and unimpeded.
