Chapter 160: Chapter 113: Ring Academy (3)

Lu Chao turned his head and saw a magnificent academy looming before him.

The main gate was only a few dozen meters from the bustling street. A central plaque with gold inlay bore the two words "Ring Academy." A series of exquisitely carved porcelain-stone bollards stood on the ground, sectioning it off from the surrounding streets.

The entire academy occupied an area of at least tens of thousands of square meters. Its white-painted walls were exceptionally clean, standing about two or three meters high and enclosing a large, square-shaped area.

Looking inside, he could see the silhouettes of ginkgo trees and a complex of silver-white buildings. Certain areas were covered by enormous glass canopies that refracted the light, and occasionally, floating cars could be seen emerging from within.

Witnessing this sight, the group fell silent for a few moments.

Finally, Chen Xiao snapped out of it and pointed to a young man at the academy’s entrance.

"Captain, Fang Xu is here." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

As he spoke, Lu Chao followed his gaze. It was the other new member of Team Three.

Then, as if sensing something, he turned his head to look toward a parking area near the academy wall.

The door of a black commercial van opened, revealing several well-built security guards in suits.

The bulges at their waists clearly indicated they were armed.

Their eyes met, and the guards gave a subtle nod. Soon, one of them began walking over.

...

「Ring Academy, Inner Courtyard」

A glass canopy enveloped the entire building. Under an awning in the center of the lawn sat a group of young men and women.

"Mei Ning, congratulations! I heard Uncle Mei is getting another promotion."

"That’s just a rumor. It’s not that easy."

"Come on, I heard it from my second uncle... Oh, by the way, Xiaoyu, I heard Lianwei Heavy Industry just replaced a few directors. Your father’s position isn’t affected, is it?"

The sound of their lighthearted chatter drifted on the breeze. Then, one of them noticed some movement in the distance and looked over.

A graceful figure with long, golden hair was approaching at a leisurely pace.

Their eyes lit up, and they waved enthusiastically, inviting her to join them.

However, she simply shook her head with a polite, apologetic smile and sat down by herself under another awning on the lawn.

She wore a pale-colored woolen coat and brown ankle boots.

She appeared to be looking through some sort of quaint, yellowed book as a warm breeze periodically swept past, ruffling a lock of her hair.

"Miss, Captain Lu is here."

Suddenly, Wei Cangming, dressed in a black suit, approached her. He walked softly and spoke in a low voice.

’Captain Lu...’

Hearing this, the golden-haired woman slowly looked up. Her features were delicate on her oval face, giving her a gentle and graceful air.

She immediately stood up and closed her book.

"Uncle Wei, may I go see him?"

"If you wish to, Miss, of course you may." Wei Cangming, who had a buzz cut, nodded in reply before turning to the side and taking half a step back.

Su Muqing smiled faintly and, clutching her book, prepared to leave.

"Mu Qing."

However, the group of young men and women nearby noticed her preparing to leave. The red-haired woman leading them walked over curiously, asking why she was leaving and if she needed any help.

"Oh?"

Upon quickly learning the reason, the red-haired woman’s fine eyebrows furrowed slightly.

"Mu Qing, you’re one of the heirs to the Red Maple Shelter City."

"He’s just a squad captain. There’s no need to lower yourself by meeting him in person, is there?"

She asked, perplexed, her tone suggesting this should be obvious.

Su Muqing shook her head gently without a moment’s hesitation.

"Senior Sister Mei, he’s the one who saved me."

"That was just a coincidence."

The red-haired woman shook her head. "The Patrol Department keeps them on the payroll for a reason—to do their jobs."

"Even if it hadn’t been him, someone else would have stepped in. If you treat him too well, he’ll just take a mile for every inch you give. He won’t know his place."

As she finished speaking, Wei Cangming’s expression darkened, but it wasn’t his place to say anything.

In response,

the smile faded from Su Muqing’s face as she looked at the other woman.

"Senior Sister Mei."

"I’m afraid I can’t agree with that statement."

With that said, she walked away, and Wei Cangming followed closely behind her.

The red-haired woman frowned slightly as she watched them go.

Finally, after a moment of thought,

she tapped her wrist device and opened her contacts.

A moment later, she tapped on a contact and began sending a message.

[Cousin—Ruan Hui].
