Chapter 492: Chapter 491: Awakening , A secret kept from everyone (2)

Azar made his way across the base camp. He asked around to see if anyone had seen a maid working nearby or anything suspicious, but to no avail. No matter where he searched or who he asked, no one seemed to know anything.

Now Azar was sure she hadn’t simply gone out.

His heart was filled with worry, but just when he was about to give up for a while, he saw a brightly lit tent with laughter ringing out from within.

Instantly, his mind went to what Mela had told him about what nobles did to their maids.

Azar rushed to the tent and opened it instantly, but he only found three nobles drinking and laughing while their maids gave them massages.

They were stunned by Azar rushing in and looked at him in shock.

"What?"

"What the hell?!"

They spat in anger.

Who just barges into someone’s tent unannounced like that?

Azar hurriedly apologized.

"I’m sorry," Azar spoke as he turned around.

"You better be," another noble said angrily.

It was Darlin, and although they had barely seen Azar’s face, they were still annoyed.

But just as Azar opened the tent flap to leave, a faint voice reached his ears.

"Ma...ster..."

It was faint and almost inaudible, but Azar caught it.

He turned sharply and rushed back into the tent, leaving the nobles stunned and cursing.

Azar walked past them and headed toward the very back of the tent.

His expression froze.

At the very back was Mela, lying helplessly on the ground. Her body was cold as she shivered nonstop.

From head to toe, she was naked, and scars and marks, ugly like writhing snakes, covered her body.

Her eyes seemed lifeless.

Only one could imagine the horrors she had endured.

Azar’s expression changed.

"Oh, our little toy?"

"Do you have an interest in her?"

"Wanna play with her?"

Azar felt like shards of glass were piercing his heart as he listened to the nobles tease and joke.

"She was a good one. She screamed well."

"Hahaha, and she had a great body too."

"Lovely and high-quality. I thoroughly enjoyed her."

"But it was said she belonged to one Azar, that kid from the Tofan Family."

"Yeah, I hate them. Wanted to teach him a lesson, but he ran off."

"Yeah, but he left us such a quality maid. We should be very grateful."

The lights in the tent suddenly went out as a chilling cold swept through the area, making everyone shiver.

Their teeth clacked against each other as they felt a cold so severe that frost began to form around them.

Then the chill disappeared.

But they were still in darkness.

"What is happening?"

"Who turned off the lights?"

"So cold... what the hell? We’re Magi. How can we be this cold?"

They rubbed their hands across their shoulders as they spoke, but suddenly their voices stopped.

They saw something so horrifying that they would never live to tell another soul.

Literally.

Two emerald eyes glowed from the back of the tent.

Then....

"AAAAAH!"

A blood-curdling scream echoed out as they felt their heartbeats accelerate.

The lights flickered on and off.

But in that brief moment of light, they saw something so horrifying that their eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

The words died in their throats as the maids around them fainted on the spot.

One of the nobles lay on the ground.

Half of his eyeball was hanging out.

His lower torso had been separated from his body.

One arm was twisted at an unrecognizable angle, while the other had been folded into a ball.

His chest was split wide open, exposing his still-beating heart.

His intestines spilled across the floor like a long chain.

The worst part was that he was still alive.

His mouth had been smashed in.

He took long, ragged breaths as blood filled his lungs.

And that was all they saw before the lights went out again.

The lights flickered back on.

The last noble was so shocked he nearly suffered a heart attack.

A head with a foot protruding through it appeared inches away from him.

The second noble had been caught, and a foot had passed straight through his face as blood dripped onto the ground.

The lights went off and came back on once more.

An inhuman face appeared before him.

Emerald eyes glowed in the darkness.

"Azar."

A ghastly, sinister voice echoed out as the noble disappeared.

Finally, the lights in the tent went out completely.

Azar walked out, his eyes still glowing as he carried Mela.

Half of his body was covered in ghostly swirling green light that wrapped around him.

His face had become distorted, resembling burned flesh, while patches of deep green scales appeared across his skin.

Fangs protruded from his mouth, and two illusory wings flickered between reality and illusion.

As Azar reached his tent, he gently laid Mela down on his bed.

His eyes grew even colder.

Although the three nobles had been mutilated to varying degrees, they were still alive.

Azar returned to the tent and carried them away one by one.

With a single step, he disappeared, appearing at the battlefield that normally required hours of travel by flying platform.

He dropped the three nobles onto the ground one after another.

Soon, Mana-Devouring Beasts began to appear.

Azar watched from the side as horror filled the eyes of the three nobles while Mana-Devouring Beasts pounced on them and devoured them until nothing remained.

Then, returning to the tent, Azar looked at the three maids.

They had seen what happened.

If news of the nobles’ disappearance got out, there would be a major investigation tomorrow, and they would likely tell on him. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Nobles were different from commoners.

If it had been commoners, no one would care.

But they were nobles.

There would definitely be an investigation.

"You..."

"All watched..."

"As she suffered..."

"And for that..."

"You deserve death."

Azar spoke slowly as he carried the three unconscious maids.

He took them to the same location and disposed of them in the same manner as their masters.

They too were devoured until nothing remained.

Back in his tent, Azar sat beside Mela.

He reached out to touch her face, but his hand stopped midway.

He closed his eyes in pain.

"I have failed you," Azar muttered before disappearing.

At the edge of the commoners’ camp, several kilometers away, Azar appeared and sat in silence.

His eyes stared at the moon as he and his newly awakened power gazed into the unknown.
