Chapter 44: The Pact
"Our king brought along our race’s sacred weapon, the Falcon Wings, while each of the other kings and queens carried the sacred weapon of their own race, and together they headed straight for the Giant stronghold!"
"And what happened after that?!" one of the Falcons asked, his voice filled with anxiety and doubt.
Sir Mark shook his head.
"After the four kings arrived at the Giants’ stronghold in the Silver Highlands, they carved their way straight into the Giants’ lair. There, they fought six Giants at the peak of the third level!"
Sir Mark fell silent for a moment, holding his breath before finally continuing.
"It’s true that the Giant race has many third-level Giants, but those six... they were on an entirely different level."
Sir Mark gritted his teeth in frustration at that reality.
"For example, I can fight a Giant at the peak of the third level head-on without either side gaining a decisive advantage, while the king can fight and kill an ordinary third-level Giant."
"But those six Giants were far stronger than ordinary Giants!"
"A devastating battle erupted between the Giants and the kings of the races. It nearly destroyed several mountains and plateaus throughout the Silver Highlands. In the end, the four kings barely returned victorious."
"Do you even understand what that means? Four of the strongest rulers among the races—the greatest of their kind—each wielding their race’s sacred weapon... and they barely managed to defeat six damn Giants!"
The four Falcons exchanged glances behind Sir Mark.
Fear and worry were written all over their faces.
None of them spoke.
They simply let Sir Mark continue.
"It’s true they couldn’t kill those six Giants... but they did manage to reach an agreement with them."
"An agreement?!" the four Falcons exclaimed in shock at the secret Sir Mark was revealing.
"Yes. According to the agreement, the new Giant race would keep the three regions entirely for themselves—the Wild Plains, the Silver Highlands, and the Forest of Light."
"But in return, they were forbidden from invading any more inhabited regions. There are countless wild, uninhabited lands where they can expand as much as they please, as long as they stay away from kingdoms and cities."
"But can we really trust them?" Marcus asked worriedly.
"Only a fool would trust those bastards. Those idiots may possess monstrous physical strength, but their brains are in their asses! Their nature leans toward destruction and bloodshed more than anything else."
"But they have two fatal weaknesses. Do you know what they are?"
A mocking smile appeared on Sir Mark’s face.
"Stupidity... and greed," Marcus answered after thinking for a moment.
"Exactly!"
"Their greed fuels their destructive and murderous instincts, while their stupidity makes them no different from mindless beasts that don’t know how to stop until they’ve either won... or been crushed."
"The four kings took advantage of that greed and stupidity. They offered them priceless treasures and enormous quantities of monster cores in exchange for venturing deeper into the unknown regions and hunting countless rare monsters for us." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
At this point, Sir Mark’s smile became even more cruel.
"Those idiots have no idea that the monster corpses they’ve been bringing us will be used to forge four more fourth-level weapons. We’re already working together with numerous kingdoms and cities from the other six races to build an army of ten million soldiers, including several thousand third-level Masters, to wipe those bastards out completely!"
"Those fools with their oversized asses actually think they can shatter the peace that has lasted for thousands of years, massacre entire regions, and no one will rise to stop them!"
"That damned race can neither be trusted nor coexist with anyone. They’ve existed for barely over a century, yet the number of people they’ve slaughtered already exceeds everyone killed during all the wars fought among the seven races throughout the last hundred thousand years!"
A ruthless gleam flashed across Sir Mark’s eyes.
"If everything you said is true, and we’ve agreed to remain at peace with them until the united army of the seven races is ready to exterminate them... then why did we have one of the Giant tribes attack the City of Light? Wouldn’t the Giants only become stronger if the City of Light fell?" one of the Falcons asked with growing concern.
"You’re right. But we had no choice. Just as the agreement obligates them to help us when necessary, it also obligates us to do the same."
"You mean... they were the ones who asked us to help them bring down the City of Light?!" Marcus and the others exclaimed in shock.
"Exactly. Otherwise, why do you think they helped that barbaric Giant tribe build those massive catapults?"
Sir Mark sneered before continuing mockingly.
"We promised those barbaric fools from the Giant race a small fortune and the necessary equipment to conquer the City of Light. In return, they could keep everything inside the city—including the city itself—once it fell."
"That was more than enough to make them stick out their tongues like obedient dogs."
"Now that the Giant tribe’s army has been destroyed, there’s nothing more we can do. We certainly can’t act personally. Otherwise, how would the other kingdoms and cities trust us when we propose the alliance if they discovered that we were responsible for bringing down an ancient kingdom like the City of Light before the Giants?"
"As for the Giants, we’ll simply offer them a few more treasures and additional monster cores. We’ll tell them we did everything we could, and they’ll accept it. With a little encouragement from us, they’ll vent all their anger on the City of Light instead."
A sinister smile spread across Sir Mark’s face.
"Now that the Giants have had their pride wounded by the City of Light several times, let’s see how that so-called Rios deals with the Giants’ full fury."
"I refuse to believe he can face more than six opponents with fourth-level combat power, even with that girl Elena helping him."
"No matter how you look at it, the City of Light is already finished. That so-called Rios is no longer a threat."
"So what difference does it make whether he knows we were behind the Giant tribe’s attack or not?"

Far away from the schemes of the races and the tension spreading across the entire continent...
At this very moment, throughout the City of Light, the light screens created by the Light Elves were broadcasting the coronation ceremony live to every corner of the city.
Inside the throne hall, Rios looked toward Elena and spoke in a majestic voice.
"Elena White, step forward and accept your duty!"
