Ginny Gable’s brow furrowed. "What are you talking about? Didn’t you just deliberately pull out the contract in front of Philip Hale? Weren’t you trying to make him think you were just bluffing and didn’t have the financial strength to buy his assets? You lured him into letting his guard down and falling for your trap, so he’d just fill in the sale price on the contract and sign it, right?"

"It seems Philip Hale is quite the actor, to have even fooled Officer Gable. What you saw was just a facade. Seraphina Sterling didn’t say any more. Given Ginny Gable’s intelligence, she didn’t need to. He would understand.

"If they both think Philip Hale only sold his assets to me because he fell for my trap, then Philip can walk away with his sixty million and stay completely out of it, while I become the one to bear the brunt of Justin Hale’s and Felix Gallagher’s anger!"

The corners of Seraphina Sterling’s lips curved into a slight smile. She stood on her tiptoes and patted Ginny Gable’s shoulder like an older sister. "You can’t be so naive anymore."
