Chapter 25: Chapter 25: A Miraculous Result

Terrence Grant didn’t dare let his guard down again. He moved from his position with utmost speed, trying to prevent a sneak attack from Seraphina Sterling!

But the moment he moved, Seraphina Sterling fired four shots in a row, forcing Terrence Grant into a desperate roll on the ground to narrowly escape.

Seraphina Sterling’s shots gave away her position. Before he even stood up, Terrence Grant fired a shot at the poplar tree. ’No wonder she vanished in the blink of an eye,’ he thought. ’She climbed the tree!’

Seraphina Sterling hooked her legs around the tree trunk and instantly swung upside down, dodging the shot. In doing so, however, she lost the poplar tree as cover, leaving her entire body exposed!

This had been the true purpose of Terrence Grant’s shot. He took aim at Seraphina Sterling’s shoulder and fired, a wild, triumphant grin on his lips.

But the moment he fired, a faint smile touched Seraphina Sterling’s lips as well. She fired at a stone by his feet. The ricocheting pebble skipped up and grazed his injured ear, adding a new wound on top of the old one.

Being wounded in the same spot, by the same person, on the same day—that was a first for Terrence Grant! ’Of course, she’s going to pay a heavy price for this. There’s no way she can dodge my last shot!’

But his certainty was shattered by Seraphina Sterling yet again! After firing her final shot, Seraphina Sterling flexed her legs, and her upside-down body instantly swung back upright, just in time to dodge the bullet he had aimed at her shoulder.

However, even though she had managed to dodge Terrence Grant’s final, decisive shot, the bullet still grazed her shoulder. She could already feel a fiery sting!

Five bullets each, all spent. Though neither had landed a direct hit, both had managed to injure the other. At best, it could be considered a draw.

"Those first four shots... you fired them on purpose, just to bait me into shooting?" Terrence Grant was deeply unsatisfied with this result. He’d been handling guns since he was a kid, yet he’d only managed a draw against someone who’d just picked one up a few days ago!

"Has anyone ever told you how smart you are, Teacher?" Seraphina Sterling was thrilled. ’I didn’t lose to this arrogant bastard,’ she thought. ’Looks like all my relentless practice these past few days paid off!’

Seeing her brilliant, warm smile only made Terrence Grant feel even more vexed.

"That last shot... you planned that too?" ’Otherwise, how could that pebble have so coincidentally grazed his ear, in the exact same spot he’d been injured just this afternoon!’

"I just wanted to show you, Teacher, that strategy plays a crucial role at all times, against any opponent!" Seraphina Sterling threw the words he’d given her on their first day right back at him. And she’d even made him experience it firsthand!

Having finally vented her pent-up frustration, Seraphina Sterling was in an excellent mood, even if she was exhausted and battered.

’She really knows how to hold a grudge.’ Where Seraphina Sterling couldn’t see, Terrence Grant’s lips pressed into a thin line. His usual wild arrogance was gone, replaced by a touch of gentleness that perhaps even he hadn’t noticed.

It was a draw. Although Hughes had considered this a possible outcome, he was still utterly shocked when it actually happened. His perception of Seraphina Sterling was slowly beginning to change.

After their duel, Seraphina Sterling rested for two days, then moved out of Terrence Grant’s residence. It wasn’t that she had successfully completed her training, but that school was about to start. It was her junior year, a crucial time in high school. And while Seraphina Sterling wasn’t particularly concerned, Kimberly Jennings was treating it as a matter of utmost importance.

Though Terrence Grant had been busy training Seraphina Sterling, he hadn’t forgotten another important matter. Philip Hale had spouted some incredibly arrogant words that day. If he didn’t teach the man a harsh lesson, he might as well forget about doing any more projects in Tollan Town.

For the past half-month, the Hale Family’s businesses had been plagued by one incident after another, and Philip Hale was already struggling to stay afloat. Willow Hale wanted to come and beg Terrence Grant to show mercy and let the Hale Family off the hook, but for days on end, the door was slammed in her face. Forget seeing Terrence Grant—she couldn’t even get past the gate to his residence!

She came again that day. But just as she reached the main gate, she saw Seraphina Sterling walking out from inside—personally escorted by Hughes, no less! To think that the man who had given her nothing but cold glares was now so cordially seeing Seraphina Sterling out... a bitter seed of jealousy sprouted in Willow Hale’s heart. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

After Hughes had gone back inside, Willow Hale suddenly darted out and blocked her path. Jealousy had twisted her pretty face into a hideous scowl. "What are you doing coming out of Mr. Grant’s residence?"

Seraphina Sterling, in a hurry to get home, shot her an indifferent glance. "What’s it to you? I’ve been living here for nearly half a month."

"What! You’ve been living here? How could you live here? How dare you live here?" Willow Hale shrieked at Seraphina Sterling as if she’d gone mad. Fortunately, the area was remote and some distance from town, or she would have certainly attracted a crowd.

"Why are you so worked up? What does it have to do with you?" Seraphina Sterling’s charming dimples appeared on her cheeks. Ignoring Willow, she continued on her way home.

Willow Hale was already deeply jealous of Seraphina Sterling, and being so completely ignored sent her into a rage. "Seraphina Sterling, you stop right there! What kind of attitude is that? So young and already so shameless! School is about to start, and instead of studying, all you know is how to chase men! Seduce men! At your age, you should know better! I bet you’ll have to sell your body to make a living in the future!"

Seraphina Sterling’s smile remained faint and unconcerned. "And what if I did? You don’t even have the assets to do that, even if you wanted to."

"You—" Willow Hale was absolutely livid. ’Did Seraphina Sterling just call me ugly?’

"Seraphina Sterling, you forgot your backpack!" At that moment, Hughes came running after them, holding a sky-blue backpack.

Seeing Hughes, Willow Hale immediately dropped her aggressive posture, her expression instantly becoming gentle and sweet. "Mr. Hughes, is Mr. Grant available? I really have something very important I need to see him about!"

Hughes maintained his poker face. "Mr. Grant is very busy. Also, Miss Sterling is Mr. Grant’s student!"
