Thanks to Julia being unaware of what kind of vegetable it was and Elaina’s lack of communication, the two heroes who are already getting by on their years have returned to their prime.
Because of the incident, Elaina has to explain the circumstances and what is currently happening to them right now and how they managed to return back to their prime.
"So, what you are saying is, we returned to our prime because of a vegetable that you harvested not too long ago that got included to the stew and as a result of that, we returned to our prime ages just like that, is that what you are saying?" Rakkan scratches his head in confusion.
"Yes. Although there are no clear side effects after returning to your prime looks and age, we don’t have concrete evidence that is the main case in later days which is why I have to ask the Grand Sage for advise and perhaps, help study what effects it might pose to a human body," Elaina sighed.
Liliana continues to look in the mirror with a smile and awe, seeing her once wrinkled and matured face return to her prime days back when she was still around 16 years old. Rakkan can only sigh and touch his face.
"Honestly, all I can feel is that I feel much energetic and powerful again after my body essentially returned to my prime age. In fact, all of the pain I am feeling once I got old are essentially gone at this point. It was like we have drank an Elixir of Youth though that one is more like a legend than a real thing. "I am really sorry about this, Grandpa, Grandma. If I have known this would be the case, I would have not let you two eat the stew just yet. I know that you two got younger again but without knowing the real effects of the vegetables aside from returning to your prime looks might pose a bit of danger and uncertainty."
Liliana smiled and pat Elaina on her back. "It’s alright, my dear. What’s done is done. And besides, I don’t mind returning back to my younger days. And if ever there are some side effects on returning to our youth, then we will accept all of that gracefully and until then, we can deal with it so don’t stress it to much."
Elaina nodded but still feel a bit guilty about it. Although it is Julia’s fault that the two have eaten the food, it isn’t her entire fault as she have no idea that food was not supposed to be consumed. She didn’t say anything related to it and just hid it inside the refrigerator. That alone is enough to beg for it to be consumed at that point.
"I am sorry, Sis. I didn’t really know and since I also have no idea that it was supposed to be like that, I have used it on that stew," Julia is apologetic.
"No worries, Julia. At this point, it is entirely my fault for not informing you about it. Still, I thought you knew about it since I was already asking the Grand Sage to study it. I thought it was related to that on why you are constantly being asked by the Grand Sage to work."
Julia scratches her head. "I guess that might be the case but honestly, he didn’t say anything to me. I didn’t even connect that the vegetable that he is researching is related to the fact that he got younger. He never said anything and just said that he was tasked to know what is the effects of that vegetable in the first place."
Elaina remembered that the Grand Sage is the one who suggested to keep the effects of the vegetable a secret for the time being until the effects are already known and explained. So even with Julia who is assisting him, he didn’t even tell her about its effects.
But that’s already too late. Now that the two old people have returned young, there’s nothing she can do at this point.
"So what should we do about this? Considering the fame you two have, I doubt this will be easily be explained to the public on how the two of you managed to return back to your youth," Elaina look at the two.
Rakkan and Liliana looked at each other, now realizing the bigger problem.
"True. Everyone might be bewildered and would even question us on what happened and even a few would be persistent in knowing how we turned young. This is troublesome," Liliana felt like she is going to have a headache after realizing the consequences.
"I didn’t expect this either. But, I have an idea that we can take advantage of," Rakkan said with confidence, causing Liliana to go curious.
"Oh? Care to tell, honey?"
"We have raided multiple dungeons by ourselves not too long ago. We can use these ancient rings that are useless and doesn’t have much value aside from a regular treasure and pose it as the rings that allowed us to return back to our youth. And to make it believable, we can cast illusion that we return to our old selves once we remove the rings," Rakkan shows the rings that he was talking about and just like what he said, although they look ancient and somehow mystical, they don’t look that different to other jewelry sold in the market.
"Isn’t that prone to dangers and bandits that wanted to get these rings to restore their vitality?" Liliana tilts her head.
"True, but isn’t it a good thing that we can get to know who are the dangerous people and those people willing to kill or rob people just because they wanted to get young again?"
Liliana thought hard if it was the right move and soon, she came to a decision. "True, I think that would make a bit of sense to me as well. And considering that these rings are useless, even if they are stolen from us, the one who stole it won’t even gain the benefit of turning young as that is only something we make as a lie to cover up this incident. I think it is a good plan."
"It is settled then," Rakkan smiled and hands over the ring to Liliana but then he stopped and realized something. He took a few moments before he kneel in front of Liliana and smiled.
"Liliana, would you accept the ring from me as a symbol of us returning to our youth?"
Liliana chuckles and held out her right hand to Rakkan.
"Silly, you still have this kind of things running in your mind. Of course I do."
Elaina and Julia looking at this scene started clapping like they have witnessed the two proposs again for their marriage. Rakkan put on the ring to Liliana’s ring finger and the two have new rings to wear as a result.
"Haha, I got the urge to do that considering this is a ring and we have returned to our youth, it was like reigniting our relationship just like when we have yet to get married, you know?" Rakkan bashfully scratch his head, embarassed, but didn’ t regret it.
"As if the flame of our love has been extinguished. We have grown old, but we as a couple remained steadfast together. It just sad that our child became foolish and ended up executed, but other than that, we don’t have any major trouble as a couple, don’t you think?" Liliana smiled.
"Indeed," Rakkan starts to stare at Liliana and the latter also did the same.
The atmosphere seems to about to get steamy when Elaina cleared her throat, interrupting their moment.
"Ahem...I know you guys are a bit eager especially since the two of you have returned to your young age...but it would be best to do that once the two of you are alone and in a private area, don’t you think?"
Embarrassed, the two promptly stop what they are doing and became formal again. Elaina find it amusing that just because they returned to their youth, they returned flirting with each other again. She still finds it romantic though.
In the end, the two decided to go to that kind of alibi on how they became young again and although she is not sure if people will be convinced, it all depends on how they work with their tale and acting.
As for the stew, since the two have already eaten the stew and it would be considered a big waste to throw it away, Elaina decided to let the two continue eating the stew and finished it off which the two gladly do so. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
Thankfully, the rest of the stew that is separately cooked doesn’t have the aforementioned vegetables that can restore the youth of people so Elaina can safely offer them to the guests. But Elaina learned her lesson at this point and made a mental note to not put everything inside the fridge.
