Chapter 576: Birthday Celebration Preparation

It didn’t take too long before the birthday celebration of Arthur and Adelaide arrived. Elaina also finished crafting all that she needed to give to the twins, which she will be handing over for later. Both of the gifts are wrapped neatly and are tucked away inside Elaina’s storage, waiting for the right time she pulls them out and give it to her children.

"[How time pass by for humans. For us gods, it just seems like yesterday, and yet for humans, every moment is quick. I remembered you were still pregnant with the twins last time, and yet right now, both of them are healthy and are even following your footsteps. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened to you if I didn’t give you the Almanac that fateful day?]" the God of Farming ponders.

"Are you getting sentimental or something, God of Farming? That’s not like you," Elaina is not surprised by the sudden sentimental side of the God of Farming. It isn’t the first time for her to experience it so she isn’t totally surprised there. Still, she is wondering what might be happening inside his head for him to just think about it like that.

"[Heh. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a bit sentimental, yes? Your children might not yet have seen me personally, but they are not just human children to me. They are children that have been under your supervision and my supervision. They can even treat me as some sort of godfather, you know?]"

"Well, if you are their godfather, how about giving them a gift they might like?"

"[Oh, a gift yes? Ahead of you already. I have prepared it in advance so I am not even worried about missing out on the gift. You can say I have already secured and ready to be given out soon.]"

"I am looking forward to that gift, God of Farming. I know you are busy, but hey, as their Mother, I really appreciate the sentiment already."

Right now, Elaina is preparing the food she will be serving for the visitors and for everyone as well. It’s not a grand celebration but something that she wanted to be held for the sake of her kids. She knows her kids prefer a simple celebration and would rather have a family celebration than invite people who are not even acquaintances.

"Eh? You are so early, Sis. You are already preparing for the ingredients? I could have helped you out," Julia came out from her room and immediately don her maid uniform and her apron to assist Elaina.

"You have don your maid uniform again. I thought you have already ditched it," Elaina was not expecting Julia to return to what she was wearing before.

"I don’t want my uniform to be damaged or even torn apart without reason. With how rigorous some of the training that the Master always gives me, I always make sure to wear sturdy and better clothes to avoid any issues going forward. But now that he has given me permission, there is no need for me to remain on my regular clothes. Using my work clothes is a better choice, don’t you agree, Sis?"

Elaina smiled. "Well, if that is what makes you comfortable, I don’t see why not? Just thought you have fully ditched the idea of remaining as a maid now that you are a full-fledged magician training under one of the legendary people present in the world."

"Couldn’t see it that way, but hey. I don’t mind returning to my roots. Anyways, enough of that, let’s focus on what we are cooking. What is our agenda for today?" fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"So eager! Well, here are the following dishes we will be cooking. We will be cooking a separate dish for both of my Grandparents. You can say that I am trying to celebrate their successful task in dealing with the underwater serpent while also celebrating the twins’ birthday. These two dishes are their favorite, so I hope they can wind down and relax while they are celebrating their great-grandson and great-granddaughter’s birthdays today."

Elaina hands a list to Julia and the latter nodded after reading it.

"Great choices, Sis. Let’s get cooking! If we work together, we should be done by the time the kids are back home from the mines."

The two immediately begin their work. The two focus first on meals. Julia focused on the vegetable and meat preparation while Elaina focused on cooking everything in the frying pan, with all of the ingredients ready to be cooked.

Elaina is not sure whether she seems to be having a much easier time cooking now compared to before because Julia is helping out, but she felt like she was doing good work. Her focus is already doing quite well. In fact, she felt like she is already getting the feeling of how she can accomplish her tasks.

Is it because she is getting proficient in cooking now? Elaina doubts it, but she is feeling a significant increase in her capability, considering she wasn’t that well-versed in cooking back in the day.

But one thing is for sure: the experience is enough for her to fully utilize whatever latent power is sleeping inside her and that is all thanks to the help of the Almanac, the cooking page and all of the notes that the Goddess of Cooking is putting on each cooking as a way fo her to understand, learn the ins and outs of the dish and how it can help improving the dish and her overall performance.

"Sis, it seems that we have run out of some of the ingredients we needed here. Are there any of these present on the field?" Julia asked.

"What are we missing so far?" Elaina asked, as she wiped her hands after washing them on the faucet.

"We need a few corn kernels, so a few cobs of corn would definitely help. It also seems a few of our tomatoes have already been cooked before. So a few of those would definitely be great. Ginger, onion, cucumbers, and lettuce are also running out if we plan to continue with the salad.

"We already ran out of those? I didn’t notice that. Let me check if there are a few more we can use. If not, I might have to quickly go to the Dungeon farm and harvest a few of them over there."

"No worries, Sis. Let me check a second time and see inside the refrigerator if there are other ingredients that I might have missed."

"You do that. I will see to harvesting a few of what you call for."

Elaina grabbed her farming gloves and hat before proceeding to the farm. On the other hand, Julia checked the refrigerator one more time, checking to see if she had missed a few.

Upon second inspection, she quickly noticed a few corn cobs located near the far corner of the refrigerator, hidden behind a few pitchers of water. Julia grabbed them and frowned. The color of the corn was weird, and she inspected it and smelled it, in case the ingredient was already about to go bad.

"Huh, this is still in good condition," Elaina said, surprised.

She grabbed them and realized that they were enough for one of the dishes. The colors might be a bit odd, but it doesn’t look rotten nor it looks dangerous.. Although she needed more corn, she could wait for Elaina to harvest them.

"This could work!"

Without waiting for Elaina, Julia began the preparation, used up the ingredients, and added them to the recipe. Of course, for Elaina, she will not know this until the effects kick in.
