Chapter 1975: Chapter 478: Crushing Defeat and Heartfelt Conviction

Anna breathed a sigh of relief, "That’s good."

Gan Wei’er pressed the doorbell, and this time, a quick servant opened the door. Seeing a woman following behind Gan Wei’er, the servant exclaimed, "Miss Weiwei, Butler Ziyu instructed that if you bring in strangers, you must have his consent."

Gan Wei’er raised her eyebrow, "I know." With that, she pushed past the servant and strode away.

Anna smiled gently at the servant and followed Gan Wei’er.

The servant glanced at their backs, his brows furrowing.

The mansion was large, and the two walked inside, flanked by towering redwood trees, lush and verdant, shading the sky and bringing a refreshing summer breeze. Not far away, the green lawn stretched as far as the eye could see, merging with the distant mountains, displaying a unique charm in the last rays of sunset.

Everything here was meticulously maintained, showing no signs of desolation or neglect, looking far from abandoned despite being uninhabited for years, instead showcasing elegance throughout.

After a few minutes of walking, passing a massive rock garden fountain, the imposing, timeless mansion appeared before them.

Anna followed Gan Wei’er into the mansion, and at once was astounded by the understated yet resplendent luxury before her. Coming from an aristocratic background, she had seen opulent homes, yet still found herself taken aback by the unending elegance of this mansion.

Noting the astonishment in Anna’s eyes, Gan Wei’er felt a trace of pride.

"Miss Weiwei has returned." Hongxin quickly approached, casting a subtle glance at the young woman beside her, "And who might this be?"

Gan Wei’er lifted her head, replying indifferently, "My friend." Just a servant, not worth her personal introduction.

Hongxin furrowed his brow slightly, calmly reminding, "Miss Weiwei, regarding Butler Ziyu..."

Already reminded twice upon returning, a flame of annoyance kindled in Gan Wei’er’s heart, and she responded coolly, "I will explain to Butler Ziyu myself. We have distinguished guests, why don’t you quickly prepare tea?"

Hongxin remained still, suddenly looking behind Gan Wei’er, speaking respectfully, "Butler Ziyu."

Gan Wei’er turned, seeing Butler Ziyu slowly approaching. The face that revealed no age held eyes concealing unfathomable depths. His gaze shifted, landing on Anna behind Gan Wei’er, his brows unconsciously knitting.

Gan Wei’er dared not be as arrogant toward Butler Ziyu as she was with Hongxin, smiling as she said, "Uncle Ziyu, this is my friend Miss Anna. She brought me back tonight. It stands to reason I should invite her in for a cup of tea. I apologize for not notifying you in advance, please forgive me, Uncle Ziyu."

Just a butler, Gan Wei’er, as the Great General’s niece, didn’t have to consider the mood of a mere butler, right?

Thinking thus, she stepped forward, politely introducing herself, "Hello, Uncle. I’m Anna, sorry for my impromptu visit."

Butler Ziyu’s dark gaze revealed no emotion. At all times, he wore a genial smile, appearing approachable, and nodded with a laugh, "Since Miss Weiwei’s guest is distinguished, we mustn’t neglect her. Prepare tea."

Gan Wei’er’s face broke into a delighted smile, inwardly rejoicing; she had expected Butler Ziyu would be upset, yet he gave her such respect.

"Since Miss Anna is here, why not stay for dinner?"

Anna feigned a humble refusal before accepting, for knowing others and oneself ensures victory in a hundred battles.

"You all sit first, I have matters to attend to, if there are any inadequacies in hospitality, please forgive." With that, she rose and departed.

Anna sat in the living room, lightly sipping tea, quietly observing her surroundings. The maids diligently performed their duties without a trace of idleness, her gaze involuntarily drifting to the second floor.

"Does the Princess... live on the second floor?"

Gan Wei’er instinctively curled her lip, replying indifferently, "Yes, but she enjoys tranquility, not liking to meet outsiders."

"I’m rather curious about the Princess," Anna said, seemingly without intention.

"Nothing to be curious about, just one nose, one mouth, and two eyes."

Anna chuckled, lowering her eyes and quietly sipping tea.

"Are there guests downstairs?" Yun Ya sat on the balcony, closing the book before her, and spoke with a soft glance.

Hongxin smiled, "It’s Miss Weiwei who brought back a friend, a Miss Anna."

Yun Ya raised her eyebrows, smiling lightly.

"Having been cooped up in the house for so long, it’s time to go downstairs and see some people." Yun Ya stretched lazily, and as Hongxin unintentionally lifted his gaze, there was a fleeting amazement in his eyes.

The youthful and graceful silhouette of the girl was draped in a layer of pale gold from the sunset, like a languid and charming little cat, giving rise to an exceedingly unrealistic illusion.
