Chapter 1965: Chapter 476: A Distinguished Guest Tied to the Palm of the Hand (Part 6)

"That medicine, that girl put something in it, and you’re just going to watch her jump around like that?"

Yun Ya lifted the medicine bowl without changing her expression and smiled. "She’s still useful."

Seeing Yun Ya scoop up a spoonful and raise it to her lips, Zhang Huasheng hurriedly stopped her. "You can’t drink that."

Yun Ya said with a smile, "I don’t want to go to tomorrow night’s banquet."

"Even so, you can’t torment yourself like this." Zhang Huasheng took the medicine bowl from her. "If you drink it and break out in a rash, you might be left with scars. You’ll be the one crying then."

Yun Ya shook her head and smiled.

Gan Wei’er got up early and ran to look for Yun Ya at the first opportunity, but was blocked at the door by Xiao Nan, who gently shook her head.

Gan Wei’er waited all the way until nearly noon before she saw Xiao Nan carrying in a tray. She lowered her voice outside the door and said, "Sister Yun, are you up?"

"Mm."

A lazy, soft, seductive voice floated out.

"Can I come in? I have something to discuss with you."

"Come in."

Gan Wei’er pushed the door open and went in, only to see the girl sitting on the edge of the bed with her back to her. The slender, ethereal line of her back caught the eye at once. Gan Wei’er walked over and spoke softly, "Sister Yun..."

The girl pressed her lips together and coughed lightly. Gan Wei’er’s heart jumped. The girl slowly turned around, and when she saw that face—fair and flawless, still stunningly beautiful like a painting—

she couldn’t help but widen her eyes a little.

Could it be she didn’t drink the medicine last night?

Yun Ya’s fine brows lifted slightly. She raised a hand to touch her smooth cheek and asked with a smile, "Why is Little Sister Weiwei looking at me like that? Do I have something dirty on my face?"

Gan Wei’er snapped back to herself and waved her hands repeatedly. "No... I just think Sister Yun looks even more beautiful today."

A woman dresses up for the one who appreciates her. Hearing someone praise her beauty, a sincere smile appeared on Yun Ya’s face, while Gan Wei’er couldn’t help curling her lips in dissatisfaction.

Thinking of how her plan had backfired, Gan Wei’er no longer felt like staying. But Yun Ya suddenly took her hand and led her to a huge wardrobe. Pointing at the dazzling array of luxurious dresses inside, she said in mild distress, "I’m agonizing over what to wear tonight. Which dress do you think I should pick?"

Gan Wei’er had dreamed of having so many beautiful dresses. Her eyes went dizzy from looking; she couldn’t tear her gaze away, and the jealousy in her heart only grew deeper.

She picked out a dress with a rather flamboyant style. "I think this one would suit Sister Yun quite well."

Yun Ya smiled. "If you like it, you can have it."

The two of them had similar figures, though Gan Wei’er was a head shorter than Yun Ya. Hearing this, she didn’t feel pleased; instead, she felt a kind of humiliation, as if she were a beggar being fobbed off.

"These are your clothes. How can I take them?"

Her favorite was a sleeveless cheongsam with a white base scattered with blue flowers. It was so elegant that she could imagine how dazzling it would look on her.

"There are so many clothes, I can’t possibly wear them all. Leaving them here is a waste anyway. If you like any of them, just take it. No need to stand on ceremony with your big sister."

Since she put it that way, there was no need to be polite. Gan Wei’er directly chose that cheongsam. "I want this one."

Yun Ya said with a smile, "Little Sister Weiwei has good taste, it’s just that this one..." She frowned slightly, as if a bit troubled.

"Has Sister changed her mind? If so, then I won’t take it. How could I steal Sister Yun’s favorite?"

Yun Ya said with a laugh, "It’s just a dress. How could we let a lifeless thing affect the bond between us sisters? Since you like it, take it."

Overjoyed, Gan Wei’er took the dress and cradled it in her arms, stroking it carefully as if it were the man she loved. She could practically see herself wearing it, commanding all eyes in the room—she would definitely stun the entire crowd.

Except...

She glanced at Yun Ya, and a trace of resentment stirred in her heart. Wherever Yun Ya was, how could it ever be her turn to steal the spotlight?

Yun Ya picked up a cup of tea and sipped it unhurriedly.

In the afternoon, Yun Ya suddenly developed a high fever. By the time Lorde came to pick her up, she was still unconscious.

Butler Ziyu said helplessly, "With the Princess’s current condition, I’m afraid she won’t be able to attend tonight’s banquet. I’m truly sorry."

Lorde’s eyes were shadowed with concern. "Has she seen a doctor? Has she taken medicine?"

Butler Ziyu replied calmly and respectfully, "The doctor has already been, and she’s taken her medicine. Young Master Lorde, there’s no need to worry. The fever has gone down, she’s just weak, and likely won’t be able to travel far."

Lorde lowered his gaze. "That’s good then." He sat down in the living room, clearly not intending to leave.

The happiest person by far was Gan Wei’er. Wearing that cheongsam, she walked out all Delicate and Tender, heading toward Lorde’s side, only to see his brows tightly knit, completely oblivious to her presence.
