Chapter 1962: Chapter 476: Honored Presence, Held in the Palm of the Hand (Part 3)
Although her posture was humble, her words clearly implied that the Princess lacked insight and feared embarrassment, so the Queen had her accompany her to keep an eye on the Princess.
Yun Ya smiled faintly, calm and composed.
Sangque furrowed his brows even deeper, looking at the poised and noble young woman sitting on the sofa, then at Gan Wei’er, who was adorned flamboyantly as if afraid no one would notice her, his eyes were full of displeasure.
If she truly understood etiquette, how could she dress more formally than the Princess? The Princess hadn’t even spoken, and she had already interrupted, shaking his head secretly.
"The journey is dull; this girl is just here to kill time. Please pardon her, Uncle Sangque," Yun Ya spoke with a smile, her gentle voice like the spring breeze of April, soothing to the heart.
"No problem," Sangque waved his hand dismissively, thinking that it was just a little girl, after all, not worth paying attention to.
"Sir, the banquet can begin," the Butler approached and spoke respectfully.
The group stood up and headed to the dining room.
Gan Wei’er could only follow behind Yun Ya, staring at Yun Ya’s back, wishing she could bore a hole into it.
Sangque sat at the head seat, Yun Ya sat to the right, and Lorde sat to the left. By etiquette, Gan Wei’er should sit below Yun Ya, but she rolled her eyes and sat next to Lorde instead.
The Butler furrowed his brow discreetly, thinking that this girl was too unruly. Then, looking at the poised and graceful young woman again, he thought that was the difference.
Gan Wei’er peered stealthily at the man sitting next to her, even the food in her mouth lost its taste.
Lorde ignored the scorching gaze beside him, placing a piece of fish into Yun Ya’s plate. "I heard you like fish. How does it taste?"
His deep voice was imbued with a heartwarming gentleness.
Yun Ya slightly smiled, gently putting the fish into her mouth, even her chewing was like a beautiful painting.
"Fresh and tender, very good."
Lorde laughed softly, that smile was truly like the thaw of ice, stunning time and space.
"As long as you like it."
Seeing the hidden affection in their eyes, Gan Wei’er felt an intense discomfort, yet she dared not rashly interrupt again. She was not foolish; she had noticed Sangque’s earlier displeasure towards her.
Sangque and Yun Ya conversed occasionally, Yun Ya’s eloquence and propriety made Sangque even more satisfied. If she were not the Queen’s daughter, he genuinely liked her as a daughter-in-law. He understood his son’s temperament, and only a woman like her could captivate him.
"The date has been set; it’s better sooner rather than later, let’s hold it early next month. There are still over ten days to prepare. Stay here at ease, and you can find Lorde for anything."
Yun Ya nodded gently.
After the meal, they sat for a while longer, then Yun Ya took her leave, and Lorde personally saw her off.
The neon nightscape rapidly receded outside the window, the car interior silent.
The driver drove, with Lorde sitting beside her, his back consistently straight, eyes forward, expressionless.
Yun Ya propped her hand on the car window, lazily glancing at him from the side. Lorde felt her gaze, straightening his back even more.
"You...." Lorde pursed his lips, more nervous than he ever had been facing ruthless bandits.
"Why are you looking at me?"
"Because you’re handsome." Her tender voice in the night was tantalizing.
Lorde’s tense heart subtly skipped a beat.
He heard distinctly the sound of his heart sinking into the night.
Without another word, they arrived at the castle. Lorde got out, opened the car door, and Yun Ya bent down, stepping out with a smile, "Thank you for seeing me back."
The young woman’s upturned face was fair and beautiful, her dark eyes shimmering like a sky full of stars.
Lorde’s throat moved slightly, knowing he should restrain himself, yet he followed his heart, bending down and gently embracing her.
Yun Ya froze for a moment, resisting the urge to push him away because countless eyes were secretly watching them.
She lifted her hand softly, resting it on his back, "Goodnight."
Just as Gan Wei’er stepped out of the car, she saw the two embracing, a scene under the moonlight that should have been infinitely beautiful but made her eyes burn with jealousy, as it should have all been hers.
With a soft cough from Gan Wei’er, Yun Ya unflinchingly took a step back, smiling, "It’s late. Be careful on your way back."
The embrace felt empty and fleeting, leaving Lorde with a sense of loss, but he quickly calmed down, nodding, and entered the car again.
The luxury car sped off into the distance.
"Sister Yun, Young Master Lorde treats you so well, it makes me want to fall in love," Weiwei approached with a playful smile, her eyes sparkling.
