Chapter 1937: Chapter 473: Bitter Life, Shattered Dreams

Neo grinned and said, "The Princess is quite right; your mother worked hard to raise you. Even if there is no merit, there is hard work, so for you to turn around and speak ill of her is wrong."

These words were nothing short of mocking Gan Wei’er, who silently gritted her teeth and grew to resent Neo.

"I was narrow-minded," Gan Wei’er forced a smile, yet Yun Ya had no intention of smoothing things over, and stood up, leaving without looking back.

Gan Wei’er sat there alone, everyone had left, leaving only her.

She clenched her fist, silently warning herself that success or failure depended on this move; she absolutely could not back down.

She got up and headed to the second floor.

The Princess’s room was on the east side of the second floor, while Neo and Lorde’s rooms were on the west side. Though on the same floor, the east was closed off from the middle, with an iron door blocking all prying eyes.

Gan Wei’er seldom came here, but because of her uncle, even the maids were nervously respectful when they saw her. She actually wished she could live here; it was so beautiful, so luxurious, like a castle in a fairy tale, letting her experience the feeling of being a princess.

There were guards at Lorde’s room, making it impossible for her to approach, so she pondered and came up with a good idea.

She decided to leave temporarily and find something, it didn’t matter as there was still some time before the medicine’s effects took hold.

"Your Highness, the Queen requests your presence."

Yun Ya had just returned to her room when she heard the voice of Butler Ziyu at the door.

Yun Ya frowned slightly, stood up, and walked out.

"What’s the matter?"

"I don’t know either. You’ll find out once Your Highness goes," Butler Ziyu replied with a smile.

Yun Ya left with him, Xiao Nan naturally following behind her, and Butler Ziyu smiled and said, "A new batch of tangerines has arrived, I remember Miss loves them, go and fetch some."

Xiao Nan looked at Yun Ya, saw Yun Ya nod, and turned around quickly to leave.

"After you, Princess." Butler Ziyu gestured respectfully, indicating for her to proceed. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Yun Ya glanced at him and walked forward.

It was a room with a Japanese style, warm and tranquil, with a low table set by the window holding tea utensils, tatami arranged on either side, and outside, the rain and wind raged. The room was filled with a gentle, inviting fragrance of tea.

A woman knelt there, holding a Purple Sand Teapot, with wisps of tea mist adding a touch of softness to her demeanor.

She heard footsteps, raised her eyes, and smiled as she said, "You’re here."

Stripping away her regal commanding presence, at this moment, she was enveloped in an aura of gentleness, like a virtuous wife and loving mother waiting for her husband and children to return home.

A virtuous wife and loving mother? Yun Ya sneered inwardly; this term would never be fitting for her.

She walked over and knelt down opposite her.

"Top-notch Biluochun tea, how do you find it?" She filled the teacup in front of her with tea and spoke with a smile, her gentle voice like a breath of spring.

Yun Ya glanced at her, but did not touch the cup of tea; in her clear eyes lay a wisdom that saw through everything.

"You want to use my body as a stepping stone for your ambition."

Lorde would soon be gone; this was her last chance.

Yun Ya had already predicted this.

"Your body was given by me, everything you have was given by me, and now, it’s time for you to repay me," the woman sitting opposite her stated flatly.

Fury rose within Yun Ya, and she suddenly swept her sleeve, knocking the teacup in front of her to the ground, "Why should I?"

Ji Lanyi did not raise her brows or eyes, calmly retrieving a clean teacup from the tray and setting it back on the table before her, refilling it with tea in a fluid, elegant motion.

"Simply because you crawled out from my belly."

"So in your eyes, I’m just a pawn? A weight to tip the scales in favor of your benefits? Haven’t I known the outcome all along? Why does it still hurt?"

Yun Ya raised her hand to cover her heart, bending over the tea table to catch her breath, "Sorry, I can’t do it, you might as well kill me."

"Drink that cup of tea in front of you, and you’ll be able to." Her gentle yet ruthless voice softly reached her ears, like a curse.

"Ha-ha..." Yun Ya laughed bitterly and looked up at her.

"Mom..." Tears flowed like beads on a string.

Ji Lanyi’s delicate brows furrowed slightly, but she said nothing.

"I..." The words of pleading swirled in her throat, but ultimately she swallowed them deeply. She looked at the cup of tea and suddenly picked it up, casting a glance up at her.

"I’ll drink, I owe you this, and I’ll give it back to you."

With that, she tilted her head back and poured it down her throat.

Bitter...

She threw the porcelain cup away, stood up abruptly, and looked at her calmly.

"Ha...." She let out a cold laugh, this woman with a heart of stone, she was heartless, nothing anyone said would matter.
