Chapter 465: Chapter 458: Still Oblivious to the Troublesome Admirer He Attracted
"Faye Jennings?" Holly Summers scoffed. "When she heard the news, she looked like she couldn’t take it and almost fainted. She really doesn’t hide her feelings for President Quinn at all. The way she acted, anyone who didn’t know better would think she was his actual girlfriend."
Holly Summers’s words sent Clara Grant into deep thought again. ’Perhaps my intuition really was just a misconception.’
’As for Sandra, even if she wasn’t the mastermind, she’s probably involved somehow. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have reacted that way.’
’Her panic and fear clearly stemmed from the belief that if something were to happen to Seth Quinn, the situation would blow up. And if a death was involved, the suspect’s charges would be much more severe.’
’At that point, it wouldn’t be as simple as a ruined career. It could cost them their life.’
After hanging up with Holly Summers, Clara Grant looked up to see Seth Quinn watching her with a meaningful gaze.
Seeing that she had hung up, he asked, "Was that Holly Summers?"
"Mhm," Clara Grant replied, raising an eyebrow in amusement. ’I already said Holly’s name. Who else would it be?’
But her smile vanished the next second.
"You had her go back to help you find out who the culprit is?"
"...Mhm." ’He figured that out just from hearing a few words?’
"And your method was to say I’m on the verge of death, about to kick the bucket?"
"How did you know?" Clara Grant’s eyes widened. ’He even knows this? If I didn’t know he was still under anesthesia at the time, I would have thought he’d gone and eavesdropped on my conversation with Holly.’
Seth Quinn, however, looked unconcerned. "Was it that hard to guess?"
He then looked at her again, his expression turning serious as he asked, "You suspect Faye Jennings?"
’Otherwise, she wouldn’t have paid such specific attention to Faye Jennings’s reaction.’
Clara Grant raised an eyebrow, her tone slightly acidic. "What, you don’t think it could be her?"
After asking, she couldn’t help but mutter under her breath, "All this trouble from your admirers, and you don’t even realize it."
Though she spoke quietly, her words still reached Seth Quinn’s ears. He couldn’t help but give a wry smile. He had to admit, the trouble from his admirers was indeed his own doing.
But hearing the jealousy in her voice still made Seth Quinn happy. ’At least he knew that while she might say she hadn’t forgiven him, deep down, she cared about him a great deal.’
A wide grin spread across his lips as he looked at Clara with a smile. "Clara, are you jealous?"
Clara Grant didn’t want to admit she was jealous, but denying it would seem disingenuous. So she lifted her chin slightly and said, "What? I’m your wife. Am I not even allowed to be jealous of you and other women?"
"Of course you can. I wouldn’t mind if you brought a whole vat of vinegar and drank it straight. But, honey, getting that angry is bad for your health, so don’t be so upset. Besides you, I wouldn’t even spare another woman a second glance. There’s no need for you to be jealous."
Clara Grant knew he was telling the truth. So far, she had never seen him give any other woman special treatment.
Now, hearing him say it with her own ears, Clara Grant felt a sweet warmth spread through her heart.
However, she didn’t forget the matter at hand. She looked at Seth Quinn and asked again, "You still haven’t answered me. Do you trust Faye Jennings and think it wasn’t her?"
"It’s not that I trust her. I just think that with her intelligence, she wouldn’t do something like this. She’s Aegis’s top actress, an A-lister in the entertainment industry. Her success isn’t just due to Aegis’s strong backing; it also has a lot to do with her own emotional and intellectual intelligence."
"She’s always been smart. A smart woman knows how to get what she wants."
"And a smart woman also naturally knows what lines can and cannot be crossed."
