Once Sienna Hale was out of sight, she turned, pulled out her phone, and dialed a number.

"Hey, I need you to look into something for me..."

After hanging up, she checked the time and glanced behind her. Sienna Hale still hadn’t come out.

She turned and glanced behind her. Still no sign of Sienna Hale. She picked up the phone again. ’Fine, I might as well answer while Sienna’s away.’

The moment she answered, she snapped before the other person could speak, her voice a low, furious whisper, "Who said you could call me? Didn’t I tell you yesterday not to call? Why are you calling again?"

The person on the other end paused for a second before his deep voice came through. "You told me not to call in the middle of the night, so I waited until it was daytime where you are. I..."

Autumn pressed her lips together, her tone still harsh. "I’m busy right now. Whatever it is, we can talk about it later."

She was about to hang up, but his voice suddenly grew urgent. "Autumn, wait."

In the next second, a voice from the background on his end of the line made Autumn freeze, a flicker of hesitation in her eyes.

She wanted to hang up, but she seemed frozen in place.

Without waiting for a reply, she stood up and pulled Sienna Hale along with her.

She worried he would call back, but thankfully, he didn’t. The phone remained silent for the rest of the afternoon.
