Chapter 2653: Chapter 1787: This Hero Begins to Reprimand (So Many Troubles)

As an Orc, Colt lived the same life as other Orcs.

Every day, he would go to the farm to herd, work, then return home where his son would run over with a smile and hug him, and his wife would have a hot meal prepared.

This life was peaceful, even somewhat dull, but Colt delighted in it. He always thought this life could continue—until today.

"Huff...huff...huff..."

A distant, low rumbling echoed endlessly, prompting Colt to rush towards his home. He didn’t know what happened, only saw flames appearing in the town, and everyone was in a panic. Unable to rest easy about his family, Colt hurriedly drove the livestock back and sprinted home.

When Colt finally arrived at his doorstep, his heart sank—he saw his family’s front door had been violently kicked open, hanging askew on the side. This heightened his unease to the extreme, and at that moment... a loud bang resounded.

"Bang!"

Upon hearing this sound, Colt shuddered and rushed into the house, where he saw a scene that made him incredibly angry.

In the living room, a giant humanoid Monster wearing pitch-black Armor stood there. In front of it, Colt’s wife had already collapsed against the wall, with most of her body blown apart, her head barely attached by a slender, bloody spinal cord. Beside her, Colt’s child was crying out, clutching his mother’s arm tightly.

"Mama! Mama! Mama!"

Yet, even though his child cried out so desperately, the Steel Monster remained unmoved, raising the smoking muzzle of the gun, aiming at the child nearby.

"No—!!"

Witnessing this scene, Colt screamed loudly, raising his hand in Despair, but unfortunately, it was too late.

"Bang!"

The Bomb drilled into the child’s tiny head, twisting and exploding the adorable, furry face into a pile of flesh. The latter fell forward silently, laying together with his mother’s corpse.

"You murderer!!!"

At that moment, Colt’s eyes widened with fury; he roared, extending his claws and charged at the Steel Monster.

But he was only greeted by a gunshot.

In the last moment before Colt lost consciousness, he heard only a cold voice.

"Alien has been eliminated."

The battle didn’t last long.

The Orcs were no match for the Tribunal; most were completely slaughtered, and some half-dead were captured alive. Meanwhile, the Night Guards rescued those Humans whom the Orcs had imprisoned as slaves and pets, bringing them to the square.

However, these Humans didn’t feel the joy of liberation; terrified and restless, they looked around, completely unaware of what had happened. Lisetta saw this scene and didn’t know what to do. As a Goddess, she should console these Humans, tell them everything was over and they had gained freedom. But Duanmu Huai’s eyes coldly stared at her, making Lisetta hesitate to move a step.

After everyone was brought to the square, Duanmu Huai made a gesture, and then saw several Night Guards herding a group of severely wounded Orcs stumbling from the other side. They too appeared bewildered and at a loss. For a while, this scene seemed quite bizarre; whether Orcs or Humans, it was as if none knew what had happened or what reaction was appropriate.

Hei Chuan Chi Yin was also puzzled; she approached the still note-taking Mary quietly, and asked softly.

"Miss Mary, what’s going on?"

"..........."

Hearing Hei Chuan Chi Yin’s inquiry, Mary paused, glanced again at her notebook, and a complex thought crossed her eyes.

"I think... Mr. Duanmu is probably determining whether they still qualify as Humans."

What does it mean to qualify as a Human?

Hei Chuan Chi Yin hadn’t understood Mary’s meaning before Duanmu Huai spoke.

"Listen up, I now have only one command, kill them."

Duanmu Huai extended his hand, pointing at those Orcs escorted by the Night Guards. Most were elderly, weak, sick, and disabled, appearing unarmed; severely injured, even standing was difficult. Some Orcs were already lying on the ground, seemingly barely alive.

"............??"

Upon hearing Duanmu Huai’s words, the crowd erupted, but Duanmu Huai seemed disinclined to explain, only coldly staring at them. After a moment, a frail young man stepped out; his body was covered with whip marks. Nevertheless, he didn’t care and walked before these Orcs, staring at them intently.

Then, after a moment, the young man picked up a Stone from the ground and forcefully hurled it at the Orcs before him.

"Thud."

The stone was small, and the young man’s strength was weak; hitting the head of that Orc didn’t cause it to move even a bit.

But it seemed to be a signal, soon several people stepped out from the crowd, picking up stones and throwing them at the Orcs. The bodies that had seemed weak now erupted with unprecedented strength. Gradually, most people joined in, stones pelted the Orc’s heads and bodies like rain, and the latter couldn’t even resist, could only hold their heads, whimpering and wailing as they curled up on the ground.

Yet this did not make the people stop, instead, more stones were thrown, finally, one person roared angrily, clutching a stone ran in front of the Orcs lying on the ground, raised the stone high and smashed it down on its head with force!

"Thud!!"

Blood splattered out, like a flame completely igniting the others, they no longer stayed as mere spectators but rushed forward. Some held stones, others used fists, nails and teeth to attack and beat the Orcs. Even the Orcs as small as children weren’t spared, they worked together to pin them to the ground, then raised stones, repeatedly smashing them onto their heads, watching the young Orcs cry, convulse, and then stop breathing.

But this only made them more excited.

"Ugh... ah..."

"Ah—help, help—!"

"No, please, don’t kill me..."

The entire square turned into a Shura Purgatory, a sight that left Hei Chuan Chi Yin stunned; just moments ago, she thought these enslaved people were very pitiful. But now, she saw them transform into ferocious beasts, using all their strength to kill those Orcs—she even couldn’t quite discern who the real beasts were.

"I once heard these words."

Mary looked at the scene, her feather pen unwavering.

"Lose humanity and you lose a lot, lose beastliness and you lose everything. Now, it seems, these words are very true."

"..."

Hei Chuan Chi Yin silently sighed, meanwhile glancing at Lisetta not far away, the Goddess stood there, her expression very complicated.

It’s quite normal; just moments ago, these people were a group of ’perfect victims’, enslaved by Orcs, raised, sold, even killed like livestock. But now, they displayed brutality no less than that of the Orcs who enslaved them, equally cruel, equally bloody, equally violent.

Nobody spoke, Duanmu Huai merely sat there, and the Night Guards just watched, watched those people tear apart one Orc after another in a frenzy, in the end, they even grabbed the Orcs’ limbs, shouting "One, two, three" as they tore them apart, as if engaging in some fervent work!

A frenzy performance, complete madness.

Lisetta felt she couldn’t breathe, she wanted to say something, wanted to stop it all, in Lisetta’s view, these people should receive treatment, and soothe their wounded souls, help them walk out of their painful memories. Not like this... they shouldn’t be like this!

But Lisetta couldn’t do it, because Duanmu Huai’s gaze was so cold, like watching a dead person, Lisetta knew, if she dared to take a step due to emotional impulse, the next moment he might have someone shoot her.

No one knew how long it lasted, everything ended, the wailing of Orcs ceased, those Humans stood amidst the Orc corpses, covered in blood, panting, their expressions vague with loss, as if they had just woken from a dream, not knowing what to do.

At this moment, Duanmu Huai stood up, walked to the crowd.

"You’ve done well."

Duanmu Huai’s voice, cold, calm, yet attracted those people’s attention. They raised their heads, looking at Duanmu Huai in front of them.

"But this is not over, are you content? To be enslaved by such lowly, filthy, dirty creatures, and then slaughtered like livestock?"

Someone raised his head, clenched his fists. Someone lowered his head, sobbing silently. Others looked around uneasily, raising their own questions.

"But, but... what can we do?"

He raised his head, posed his question.

"The Hero was killed, the nation destroyed, we can’t do anything..."

"At least you can die!"

Duanmu Huai abruptly raised his voice, interrupting the man’s self-pity, he reached out, pointing to the Orc corpses.

"You can choose to die gloriously, and before dying, kill one filthy Alien after another! This is your greatest contribution to Humans! How? Without a Hero, do you not know how to fight? Remember, life is your weapon, you must not fear using it! At least, this is more meaningful and valuable than being slaughtered like livestock and eaten!"

"..."

No one spoke, everyone just stared blankly at Duanmu Huai, and Duanmu Huai stared back at them, after a moment let out a cold snort.

"Those willing to fight stay, the rest can leave, if you don’t go, I will enlist all of you into a suicide squad, and in the next battle against Orcs."
