Chapter 2640: Chapter 1776: Reshaping Reality
As Duanmu Huai gave the order, several Night Raven Black Stars plunged down from the sky, encircling the gigantic machine in a tight ring. At the same time, the enormous machine seemed to sense something as well; the metal parts covering its body suddenly shot out, flying toward the Night Raven Black Stars on all sides!
Yet right after that, an astonishing scene unfolded.
Those parts, shooting out like a torrential metal rain, suddenly halted in midair as if they had hit an invisible barrier before they could strike the Night Raven Black Stars, then clattered down to the ground.
"Eh? This is...?"
"I already told you before, didn’t I?"
Duanmu Huai snapped his fingers.
"Reality Benders. Their ability is to distort reality. By the same logic, if we reshape reality, we can cancel out their powers and restore reality to its original state. But... this thing is really a pain to make. If I could, I’d really like to build a few big ones for personal use."
At this point, Duanmu Huai sighed inwardly. The Reality Stabilizing Anchor was a wonderful thing; if possible, he’d have loved to make one as large as a Space Station, and if he could place one in each Galaxy, that would be perfect. After all, the Reality Stabilizing Anchor could stabilize reality; once activated within its range, any power that transcended reality—Subspace erosion included—would be dispersed.
This was also why Duanmu Huai had manufactured a great number of Reality Stabilizing Anchors on the three fortress worlds, specifically so that when building the Ether Synchronous Engine, he could use the anchors to suppress the Eye of Fear.
Unfortunately, crafting a Reality Stabilizing Anchor required drawing energy from the [Mechanical Incarnation] card, and the card’s energy output was limited. Duanmu Huai had no way to fully activate it. At present, the [Mechanical Incarnation] card was still lying obediently in the Tribunal, playing its Sleeping Beauty act. As for when she would wake up, and how, Duanmu Huai had no clue.
Duanmu Huai had even considered just smashing that damned coffin with one swing of his hammer, but... he couldn’t break it?
All he could say was that the thing was downright freaky.
So he had no choice but to find ways to stockpile enough energy to build Reality Stabilizing Anchors covering as wide an area as possible. As for when that card would finally be usable... well, he couldn’t say.
At least for now, the Reality Stabilizing Anchor was quite handy.
As the Reality Stabilizing Anchor expanded, the gigantic metal machine began to collapse in turn; the parts composing its body lost power and plummeted. At the same time, Duanmu Huai decisively issued his order.
"Attack!"
In short order, a beam of light speared down from the heavens, striking directly at the core of the giant machine.
The best thing about the Reality Stabilizing Anchor was that it could repair non-real constructs without affecting real ones. So when the non-real Mechanical God descended, what greeted it was the ruthless bombardment from the Light Spears of reality.
"Boom!!!"
Scorching air blasted her face, and Hei Chuan Chi Yin raised a hand to shield herself, watching as the gigantic metal machine gradually melted and shattered under the blazing beam. She finally understood why Duanmu Huai had been watching from the sidelines instead of directly stepping in to eliminate this Monster. Clearly, in Duanmu Huai’s eyes, these Humans infected by the mechanization virus were beyond saving, not worth wasting any time on. Better to let them complete the sacrifice, then make a move after this Mechanical God showed up.
Wait, then that guy...
"Bang."
Just as that thought turned over in Chi Yin’s mind and she glanced to the side, she saw Roster pitch forward to the ground. His eyes were bulging round, apparently not yet understanding what had happened. Behind him, a Night Guard silently lowered a smoking Bomb Gun.
"............."
How to put it... this didn’t surprise Chi Yin in the slightest.
Although this man hadn’t yet shown any signs of infection, it was obvious that the Tribunal would never let a single suspicious individual go.
Even if he was a survivor, it made no difference. freewёbnoνel.com
"Rumble rumble rumble...!" freewёbnoνel.com
From within the beam came a deafening roar, like a steam locomotive belching smoke, and then a gigantic black silhouette emerged. It looked humanoid, but far larger than any Human.
"Knew it, not that easy to clean up."
Seeing the figure that had stayed intact under the Light Spear bombardment, Duanmu Huai was not particularly surprised. This was a being far more powerful than any Subspace Evil God; even if this was just an avatar, it wasn’t something that could be killed by Reality Stabilizing Anchors alone. In fact, even for a Subspace Evil God, the anchors could only weaken, not destroy.
"Move aside, the rest is mine!"
Duanmu Huai gripped his War Hammer, stood up, and shouted. The beam vanished, and the Night Raven Black Stars that had been circling around quickly scattered. At the same time, a gigantic, bizarre Puppet appeared before everyone’s eyes.
It looked like a towering Puppet, at least five stories tall, made of steel and gears, and in its hand it held a War Hammer formed of the same metal and lever mechanisms. The metal Giant raised its head, gazing in Duanmu Huai’s direction. Feeling that gaze, Duanmu Huai trembled slightly and tightened his grip on the War Hammer.
It was a completely different kind of experience.
Fighting an Evil God was mostly a contest of mind and Soul, but this thing was something else entirely. Just being looked at by it, Duanmu Huai felt the Power Armor on his body beginning to crumble, twist, and deform. Because all things had their original form, and as the Mechanical Deity, everything would, according to its will, reappear before the world in the form it desired.
But Duanmu Huai rejected that process.
The power of Destruction roared forth endlessly, completely breaking down the Divine Power erosion that followed. Never before had Duanmu Huai been so grateful that he had chosen the path of the God of Destruction. Without this Divine Position, it would have been anything but easy to stand against this avatar of the God of Shattering.
Damn it, this was just a tiny projection!
Supreme God was indeed far more troublesome than any Subspace Evil God!
If Duanmu Huai were to rank his enemies by Strength, it would be Subspace Evil Gods
But right now... it was still time to fight!
"Haaah!"
Duanmu Huai let out a roar, leaping into the air and flying toward the metal Giant, while swinging the Thunder Warhammer in his hands down with all his might. The metal Giant likewise raised its War Hammer and smashed forward, its swing crashing against Duanmu Huai’s descending hammer!
"BOOOOM———!"
At the instant of impact, the ground split and caved in. With the eruption of the God of Shattering’s power, everything around them—down to the very soil—transformed into metal. Flying stones and dirt congealed into brass-like lumps, and the earth itself took on the cold gleam of steel.
Yet this lasted only for a heartbeat.
The next moment, the aura of Destruction exploded outward, sweeping away and annihilating the terrain that had been altered by the God of Shattering’s power. Duanmu Huai’s War Hammer smashed down again with a thunderous crash, pulverizing the hammer in the Puppet’s hand. He landed heavily on the ground, then gripped the War Hammer once more and swung it hard at the metal Puppet’s leg!
"Bang!!"
The Puppet’s leg shattered completely under the full-force impact of the God of Destruction’s Power, and it could no longer maintain its balance, tipping backward. At the same instant, Duanmu Huai’s War Hammer swung again, slamming straight into the head of the falling metal Puppet.
This time, the Puppet did not repair itself. On the contrary, its entire body was smashed to scrap, blown apart into countless pieces that rained to the ground, where they lay still and silent.
"Phew..."
Duanmu Huai stood up and let out a sigh, then looked around.
"Get ready to leave. I’m going to completely purge this planet."
With that, Duanmu Huai spoke.
