Chapter 110: Involving the Police

Frankly, Hajime had no idea how he’d be able to deal with the three men. Sure, he did take on five college students at once back then, but these guys... just one glance and Hajime could tell that they were seasoned veterans when it comes to fighting. He can take the risk, but that wouldn’t guarantee him living.

’And it’s not like I could just flat out ditch Keiichi here. I went through all the trouble of sending everyone away just so they wouldn’t get in my way... it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if I fail here.’ Hajime muttered in his mind.

That’s when he got the idea.

Meanwhile, Keiichi reluctantly reached into his pockets so he could grab his credit card. To him, this was the only way. And there was no way he could rely on Hajime right now. He’d rather die than rely on Hajime— or so that’s what he swore in himself.

"Do you need some help? Or can I leave you to it?" Hajime asked before the three men could even say anything.

"I can handle this," Keiichi grunted, forcing a smile on his face.

"Hey, we have to go, the ladies went to the police." One of the three men blurted out the obvious, causing the muscular man to drag Keiichi from the open streets into the narrow alleyways where they could silently deal with him.

"That’s right. Grab that kid as well." The second man continued, wondering why Hajime didn’t bother accompanying the ladies. In terms of body structure, Hajime was more on the thin side, almost the same bodily proportion as the lanky guy in the group. Hence the three men underestimated him.

But they were wrong, underneath his somewhat baggy clothing was actually pure muscle due to his experiences working in construction.

No sooner had the other muscular grabbed Hajime by the arm, than he started acting frail. With his actions, the men were more convinced that he was weak, and that’s why they didn’t think twice about bringing him with them.

And at this point, Keiichi never bothered to struggle anymore. He figured that once the group got the money, they’d let him go. It didn’t even occur in his mind that the three men would take him in as a captive and ask for ransom from his parents. Right now, the only thing at the forefront of his mind was to get out of this sticky situation WITHOUT the help of Hajime.

"Are you stupid? Why did you get caught? You should’ve run away with the girls. Acting all cool... you’re just stupid." Keiichi finally mustered the courage to talk Hajime down despite the fact that he was the one who got targeted and caught first. But then again, he had all the right to ask the question since Hajime intentionally didn’t run away.

"Looks like you got everything figured out huh, should I just leave?" Hajime relaxedly asked, unfazed by the presence of three full-grown men that surrounded him.

"As if," Keiichi wanted to slap Hajime across his face but his hands were tightly gripped by one of the burly men so he couldn’t move freely.

"Did it even occur to you that we’re being kidnapped right now? For me, it’s all well and good since they wouldn’t get anything from me. But for you, they can get a lot. They can even take you in and ask your parents for ransom... did you think about that? Who’s the stupid now, stupid?"

"You— !" Before Keiichi could react, the muscular man gave him a good punch in the face.

Keiichi wasn’t paying attention so he received the punch without preparation. He coughed as a cut appeared on his lips. A visible bruise and swelling could be seen on his face even though the punch was relatively fresh.

"You, be quiet. And you! Don’t interrupt." The man who was handling Keiichi pointed his index finger at Keiichi and then at Hajime.

A sigh left Hajime’s mouth as he shrugged, implying that he wouldn’t interrupt what the three men were about to do. For someone who’s been kidnapped by one other person, Hajime sure was calm throughout the situation. In his mind, however, he was somewhat panicking, but he never showed that in his facial expressions.

Somehow, Hajime’s outward reaction pissed the other guy off, causing him to grab Hajime’s hand and attempt to punch him. Without thinking twice, he strained his shoulders and threw his whole body for the punch aimed at Hajime’s cheeks. ’This kid, who does he think he is? Acting so smug and all?’ He said in his mind.

"Oi, what are you do—" the third guy called out, wondering why one of his partners lost his cool over Hajime’s reaction. Right now, they didn’t want to cause a scene since they were almost done with Keiichi.

Since it was in the middle of Tokyo, police stations were practically everywhere. And it didn’t take long before they found a police station. It was conveniently situated a street away from where the group was cornered.

"What do we tell the police?" Natsumi asked, still being dragged by Megumi.

"I’ll take care of that." Shizuka raised her hand, casually running beside Megumi. Despite her monotonous tone and her placid expression, she was able to keep up with everyone running. "Kaori, you go contact the school or any teacher, if possible. We have to let them know."

"I’m on it." The usual overly enthusiastic Kaori panic-strickenly rummaged through her pockets to grab her phone. She immediately dialed Akamine-sensei, the homeroom teacher of Megumi’s class, since this wasn’t their class’s problem.

"I need to contact someone," Megumi said as soon as they got to the entrance of the police station. "Shizuka, you can take care of informing the police, right?" ƒrēewebnovel.com

Shizuka nodded.

"All right, I’ll leave it to you." Megumi continued, also grabbing her phone and immediately dialing Franz, one of the most trustworthy people she knew. "Please pick up, please pick up," She muttered to herself as she watched Shizuka and the others enter the station.
