Chapter 809 - Relentless Offensive

Even at full speed, Lu Wuhen couldn’t shake off Li Guanqi, no matter how hard he tried.

Li Guanqi’s sprint technique was simply too fast. What Gu Yong had given him was no ordinary method, and on top of it, he was circulating the Great Void Shadow Concealment Divine Technique. Not only was he fast, but not a trace of his aura leaked out. He slipped through the gaps of the void almost instantly, without raising so much as a spatial ripple.

Boom!

A sword strike infused with immense power smashed Lu Wuhen straight out of the void. He plummeted and slammed into the arena, blasting a crater over a hundred zhang wide. The instant he rebounded, Li Guanqi was already in front of him.

Blood spilled from the corner of Lu Wuhen’s mouth, yet he slashed forward without hesitation. A sharp, violent arc of sword light halted Li Guanqi’s assault, and sword qi burst wildly between them.

The two battled from the arena to the sky and back down again. The platform shattered into deep pits, and every stray strand of sword qi carved trenches into its surface.

The spectators stared unblinkingly at the two figures flickering within the barrier. In just over ten breaths of combat, they had traded dozens of exchanges, far too fast for the eye to follow.

“Why aren’t you using your left hand? Am I not worthy?!” Lu Wuhen snarled, his sword growing faster and more ferocious.

Li Guanqi smiled faintly. “If that’s what you want, I’ll grant it.”

Sword light crossed in a flash as he switched Red Lotus from his right hand to his left. His attacks became a torrential storm, slashing down at Lu Wuhen.

In an instant, his attacks became like a torrential storm, slashing toward Lu Wuhen!

Lu Wuhen burst into laughter, defending with all his might while still seizing openings to counterattack.

Clang! Clang clang!

Boom boom!

The two possessed swordsmanship far beyond their peers; even old monsters who had cultivated for a thousand years would not dare claim superiority over them. Both were clearly veterans of countless battles, figures who had clawed their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

Li Guanqi, the Yanluo Sword, had wiped out more clans than anyone could count. People still told stories of him dragging a chain of severed heads in his wake. As for Lu Wuhen, the foremost of the Lu clan’s younger generation, he had endured his own share of brutal trials in private. But compared to Li Guanqi, his killing intent lacked a certain savage edge.

The pressure on Lu Wuhen mounted, and his expression gradually darkened. Early on, he could still find gaps in Li Guanqi’s attacks and counter. But ever since Li Guanqi switched his sword to his left hand, no matter how much Lu Wuhen raised his speed, his opponent matched him effortlessly. And Li Guanqi’s sword was always a fraction faster.

By now, Lu Wuhen’s face was streaked with cuts, and his torn robes were soaked with blood.

Boom!

Sword qi crisscrossed wildly between them. Li Guanqi’s eyes sharpened, and he wove the Red Lotus Sword in an impenetrable defense in his left hand, blocking the incoming sword qi, yet stray fragments still cut into him. Fortunately, his physical body was strong, and the wounds stayed superficial.

The two retreated quickly, shooting backward. But in that instant, Lu Wuhen realized dark clouds had gathered overhead. His expression changed drastically as he looked up at the roiling thunderclouds. His every instinct screamed danger.

Li Guanqi retreated, his fingers curling slightly. Above, countless lightning spears rained down.

“Spirit spell, Break Formations, Brutal Spear!”

At the same time, dazzling purple lightning descended from the heavens, lashing toward Lu Wuhen like ropes intent on binding him.

“Spirit spell, Lightning Rope!”

Lu Wuhen’s pupils dilated. With no time to think, he took a deep breath, crouched low, and slashed. Countless strands of sword qi exploded outward, and the clash of sword light and lightning set off thunderous explosions.

But the moment the lightning shattered, Li Guanqi halted his retreat and slammed both hands into the void.

“Spirit spell number seventy-eight, Four Heavenly Pillars!”

Boom!

Four massive pillars of light tore through space, materializing around Lu Wuhen. His sword arm moved in a blur. Then he sensed a terrifying spatial power closing in around him, and his eyes went wide.

Rumble! Rumble!

The pillars locked down from all four directions, pinning Lu Wuhen in midair.

To outside observers, it all happened in the blink of an eye. The two clashed, retreated, and in that fleeting instant, Li Guanqi unleashed several terrifying spirit spells in succession. Most shocking of all were the sealing pillars, the manifestation of a spirit spell ranked among the top hundred.

Countless lightning serpents coiled around the four pillars like chains, binding them together. Lu Wuhen’s eyes widened in shock as his limbs were pinned down. Looking up, he saw Li Guanqi already ascending into the skies.

At some point during the battle, Li Guanqi had clad himself in lightning armor. He coldly looked down, only his pure white eyes visible.

“Red Lotus Heavenly Dance. Wrathful Thunder.”

Li Guanqi raised his hand, and the hilt of the Red Lotus Sword erupted with a sinister crimson glow. Surging sword intent shot into the heavens, piercing the clouds. He gripped the four-chi blade, and a colossal phantom of a Lightning God materialized behind him. Li Guanqi raised his sword, and the Lightning God mirrored the motion.

The two slashed down as one. With that one strike, heaven and earth changed color. The wind howled across the arena. Li Guanqi’s white robes whipped violently, his gaze sharp as an eagle’s, brimming with killing intent.

Facing the strike, Lu Wuhen trembled uncontrollably. Death pressed in around him, suffocating. A chill shot from the soles of his feet to his scalp, every hair on his body standing on end.

Boom!

An overwhelming pressure erupted from Lu Wuhen. The tip of the Ascension Sword glowed a strange, sinister crimson. He twisted his wrist, and chaotic sword light burst forth, shattering the four pillars. The lightning bindings did not hold for even a breath.

Freed from the restraints, Lu Wuhen swallowed the blood rising in his throat. He gripped his sword with both hands and violently slashed upward. A golden arc of sword light erupted from below, tearing open the arena floor as it surged skyward.

“Ascension, Heavenly Wolf Slash! Break!”

Boom!

A massive explosion engulfed the platform for a thousand zhang in every direction, and Li Guanqi frowned. The arena trembled violently. Even the reinforced barrier rippled as wave after wave of explosive force slammed against it.
