Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Block?

Power is not what makes you blind, but the irresistible emotions one unleashes when you have it. In the times of the old earth, way before the Creator’s favourite children ruled the modern world, there were others. Beings of energy, beings of the supernatural, beings of sheer magic.

And having such power, they started to call themselves gods and tried to be so. With that, heaven tried to put them in their place and failed miserably. Hell tried it too, but failed even more.

They reached the level of worship, gaining faith and epic power, growing ever stronger. When all hope was lost, in the end he came, he saw, and he conquered. Every pantheon that rose from the ground, he put back down, sealing each and every single one of them.

That should have been the end, but the world had other plans. Or Amon did. His golden eyes gazed at the view from the airplane window, watching the sea, the birds.

Beep, beep.

His phone vibrated. A small Nokia phone, the name Michael written over the number. He didn’t know his phone had enough signal to reach heaven, but he didn’t care. He just declined it and blocked the number.

Instead, he opened his phone book and searched, familiar names coming into view. Adam, John, Eve, Baal, Noah, and finally, the number he was searching for.

"There you are..." he said, clicking the call button. The phone rang once, twice, then someone finally picked up.

"Helloooo...?" a confused voice came.

Hearing that familiar, unconfident voice after so long, he would have smiled, but he didn’t, or rather he couldn’t.

"Hello. It’s been a while." He replied.

"Ummm, is this..." he paused. "Is this really you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, is this really the fucking Golden Immortal? Destroyer of Worlds?" the voice shouted.

Amon pulled the phone away from his ear. Hearing that title, Destroyer of Worlds, he had many titles, but this one was something new. "I am the Golden Immortal, but the other title, I think you got that wrong, buddy."

"Haha... buddy. Yeah, only the person who has that title has the nerve to call me buddy. So I’m sure I got the right person."

Amon had almost forgotten how irritating this lad was, but whatever. For what he was about to do, he couldn’t do it alone. "I think I’ll hurt you when I see you."

"Huh, hurt me? Why?... Wait, you’re coming to the US?"

"Yeah, I’ll be there..." he said, checking his wristwatch. "In two hours. So prepare yourself."

"Wait, what the actual fuck? This wasn’t part of th—"

Amon ended the call, already annoyed enough. He didn’t want to be irritated any more than he already was. He gazed back at the window, at the city now visible. America. The place where it all began and ended, and the place where another Chapter would now begin once more.

"Just wait and see, Michael, Lucifer. Just wait and see." He said.

****

In the silver city, where there was nothing but bliss and peace, one being couldn’t stay still, his thumb pressing on the screen, trying to call Amon again and again, but no matter what, his call couldn’t go through.

"What is this? Why can’t I get through to him?" he asked.

The echo of his frustration reached elsewhere. Right nearby, one of the cherubs flying above noticed their supreme archangel pressing buttons.

"Your Holiness..." the little blond cherub called. "What seems to be the issue?"

"Oh, Venus," Michael said. "Come here for a second."

"Oh Lord, you know my name?" the cherub voiced in awe, the one governing all of heaven seeing him and knowing who he was.

"Of course. Venus, from the observation department. You weren’t born like humans, you were made by the Creator, like me, like Amon. In which case, do you mind checking this please? I can’t seem to reach him through the heavenly network."

Pleased, the cherub took the small screen and scanned it with his eyes. "Oh, the issue seems to be..."

"Seems to be?"

The cherub knew instantly what the issue was. But he didn’t know how, in the name of the Lord and the seven heavens, he would break it to the lord of the seven heavens himself that he was being blocked.

"Come now, child. What seems to be the issue?" Michael asked.

"Umm..."

"Hmmm?"

"Ummm, my Lord, it seems the user Amon has..."

"Has...?"

"Blocked you." the cherub finally said.

The words echoed loud and clear, all of the angels roaming around freezing in place, listening in surprise.

"Me... Amon blocked me?"

The cherub nodded, unable to say anything more.

"HE BLOCKED ME!!!"

Heaven shook for a couple of seconds, Michael’s light of blessing leaking everywhere. It didn’t last long though. Michael controlled it right after, as all of heaven’s eyes were upon him for a few seconds.

"Nothing of any issue here, get back to what you were doing." He voiced with a clean smile, and everyone listened, even the cherub himself, flying away right after.

As he turned, his smile faded right after, his thumb scrolling through the call book, the name "rebellious brother" coming into view. He typed: fix this, you owe me, you already have the boy and I have nothing.

The message was sent, the busy ruler of hell already seeing it, the typing bubble already appearing.

Ting!

The message came, which made Michael smile. Actually smile. The message read: consider it done, brother.

Lord Father. I am doing what needs to be done, saving heaven, saving the world. So please, I pray thee, do not judge my actions.

He prayed, then called another number. The moment he sent the message, golden light filled his domain, a golden figure with six wings and eight golden, sun-like eyes appearing before him.

"Yes, my Lord, you called?" the being asked.

"No need to call me Lord. We are brothers, and as a brother, I want your help."

"I see. The rumors are true then, he has gone rogue." the being replied.

"Indeed, and as the guardians of this world—"

"No need to speak further, brother Michael. But hear me, I won’t show mercy simply because he was once your student." the being replied.

Michael pursed his lips, his face tensing, like he was grieving. "If that’s what needs to be done..." he said, looking down.

"Do it, Gabriel."
