Chapter 612: Offering Incense Money
After the family had been eating outside for a while, they finally headed toward the temple.
The temple here had been newly renovated, everything was new, and some of the Buddha statues were even embellished with gold. Xu Mumu was a bit surprised; the donors here must be really generous.
From the moment they entered and saw the Buddha statues, Xu Mumu and the others took out the incense and candles they had prepared and started burning them.
There was a constant stream of people coming to burn incense, and an old monk was sitting in front of a Buddha statue, chanting sutras with his eyes closed, looking as if he was in deep meditation.
Xu Mumu was devoutly kneeling and worshiping, and Doudou, whom she brought along, also followed in the worship.
After burning paper money, Qian Chunhua placed their offerings there, and only then did the group go to the next location.
What Xu Mumu did not know is that after they left, the old monk opened his eyes and took an extra look in the direction where Xu Mumu and the others had left.
The temple was very large, especially the one at the back, which was tens of meters high. At the top of the Buddha statue, there was a huge Wishing Tree with many red ribbons hanging from it.
To get to the Wishing Tree, you had to make a loop around the mountain, and none of them were prepared to go up there.
They burned all the incense and paper money they brought and placed their offerings here.
"Daughter, do you want to try the vegetarian meal here?" Qian Chunhua patted the leaves off her body. There were many trees planted near the Buddha statue; even if someone cleaned daily, leaves would still fall from time to time.
"Let’s go, have a look." Xu Mumu smiled and nodded.
The group headed towards the place serving vegetarian meals. By this time, it was nearly noon, and quite a few people had come here to eat.
They had some barbecue when they came in the morning, so they weren’t very hungry.
Xu Mumu noticed quite a number of people eating here and was curious about the taste of the vegetarian meal.
But when the food was served, she lost any expectations. The meal was a bit dark, obviously made with old rice, and as for the green vegetables and cabbage, they were tasteless—really not that good.
Doudou took a couple of bites and wouldn’t eat anymore. Xu Mumu didn’t force it either, taking out the lunch box they brought along. Inside was food that Madam Chun had specially prepared for him, a lot of it, so Xu Mumu let the two children share it. The few adults ate the vegetarian meal.
Luckily, they had some barbecue in the morning to fill their stomachs, and they hadn’t ordered much food.
"This vegetarian meal isn’t good at all, not as good as my cooking," Li Caixia muttered while eating. The vegetables here were cooked with rapeseed oil, not lard, and there was no meat; aside from a bit of salty taste, there was not much else.
"Mom, it’s okay if you can’t eat it, we can eat when we get back," Xu Mumu said to her mother.
"That won’t do, food is food. Let’s not waste it since we paid," Qian Chunhua quickly declined, and then she started eating in big mouthfuls, thinking it wouldn’t be too late to have another meal at home.
Xu Mumu couldn’t say much. Indeed, a few years ago, they couldn’t even get enough to eat, and now they were getting picky. She shared a glance with Yin Yang, and they started eating quickly too.
After finishing the vegetarian meal, Xu Mumu and the others walked around outside for a bit before preparing to go down the mountain.
Yin Yang drove the car over, and Xu Mumu put the two children in and got in herself.
As the car started, Xu Mumu looked at the temple outside the window, feeling more at peace in her heart.
She planned to come more often when she had time, to worship and find peace of mind.
"What did you talk to the abbot about this morning?" Xu Mumu, holding Doudou and sitting in the passenger seat, smiled at Yin Yang. When they were burning incense, Yin Yang had stepped out for a bit.
"Nothing much, just donated some money for incense," Yin Yang said with a smile. He knew about his young wife’s background and naturally didn’t want her to have any problems, so he tried to do more good deeds to accumulate blessings.
Regarding this temple, he had Zhou Yunhong check it out. The abbot was a kind person, so donating more money for incense was no problem.
"Young man, you have money to burn?" Li Caixia looked at her son-in-law in disbelief.
"Mom, it’s alright, I didn’t donate much, just doing a good deed, accumulating blessings for my wife and Doudou," Yin Yang said with a smile, not bothering about the little money he donated, as his daily earnings far exceeded what he donated.
Li Caixia rolled her eyes at Yin Yang, not wanting to speak. Thinking about the vast family wealth her son-in-law had, she decided to keep quiet, realizing he was genuinely not short of money.
When they got home, Doudou was already asleep. Li Caixia immediately led Fengfeng home, thinking of the pregnant woman there whom she constantly worried about.
Back home, Xu Mumu carefully took off the child’s clothes, placed him on the bed. The little one slept soundly, and Xu Mumu kissed his face before leaving the room. fгeewebnovёl.com
"Mumu, come eat something," Yin Yang said gently, with plenty of food already on the dining table, all prepared by Madam Chun earlier.
"So much, and it smells delicious," Xu Mumu sniffed deeply with satisfaction; Madam Chun’s cooking skills were really getting better.
As Xu Mumu was enjoying the fragrant food, two dogs under the table looked eagerly at the pair; these two dogs were brought back by Professor Song last year when he went to the Imperial City.
These two dogs had grown tall and strong, having been raised for several years, now appearing quite robust.
Mostly cared for by Madam Chun after being brought back, these two dogs never missed out on any good food and became glossy-coated and well-fed over the years.
Pushing them gently with her foot, the two dogs mistook it as playing and wouldn’t let go of her shoe.
Xu Mumu felt helpless—these two silly dogs always thought she was playing with them when she tried to chase them away.
These two dogs were well-behaved, and she couldn’t bear to push them away forcefully, having developed a bond with them over the years.
"Madam, I’ll take them away now," Madam Chun said promptly upon seeing the two dogs chewing Xu Mumu’s shoes, as they always liked to play with Xu Mumu for a while.
"Okay, give them something to eat and bathe them to prevent any germs when Doudou holds them," Xu Mumu nodded and instructed carefully.
"I know, Madam, don’t worry. I bathe them every day," Madam Chun nodded. She also adored Doudou and naturally did not want him to get sick.
Fortunately, Doudou had been healthy since childhood and had never caught a cold. She had never seen such a healthy child before.
Once the two dogs were taken away, Xu Mumu felt at ease. These two were overly enthusiastic, and she couldn’t handle their exuberance; they had already chewed through several pairs of her shoes.
