Chapter 33: Chaos Devouring Dragon

Ren looked at Vel, a flash of confusion washed over his face. "A name?" he asked.

"Yup, how about I give you a name?" Vel asked and then reclined into his seat. He drew a deep puff of smoke and released it in a fine stream into the air. Ren had to admit, he was impressed by the smoking.

"But I have a name," Ren argued. He stepped closer as he spoke.

"Not a true name, not a name tied to the very essence of your being. You should know this. It seems you named those monsters around you," Vel said.

Ren didn’t need to think much more to realize what he was speaking about. His eyes widened.

"Like the name I gave Silas and Rumi?" he asked.

"Yeah, yeah, that, but even better. You, my friend, will be getting your name fresh off the hands of a god, a being that sits above it all. There ain’t no better gift," Vel explained. He let out a smirk, sure that he had convinced Ren.

Ren took a deep breath. There was no point thinking it over. This was his opportunity to get stronger. He looked right at Vel. "Fine, you have a deal. I’ll agree to it for a name," he spoke as if he was not hyped about it, but inside he was leaping for joy.

"Come on, man, at least show a little eagerness. You know, you know how to make a god confused. Most people would be foaming at the mouth if they got to see one."

"I guess I’m used to it." Ren shrugged.

"Aha, I knew you had seen a god before, haha."

Ren grabbed the bridge of his nose. "Sigh."

"Either way, come close and I’ll bestow my name onto you."

"Huh? Your name?" Ren asked.

"Yes indeed, I am Velaraxx Crimson, the God of Chaos, and today I give you the name of a god, Crimson Junior," Vel said in a grand voice before bursting into a cough that sounded sick.

"Whoa, whoa, what the hell is a Crimson Junior? I will not be bearing such a name," Ren argued.

"You can’t do anything about it. It’s your name now."

[You have been named Crimson Jnr]

The system rang out before Ren could respond, and then an intense burning feeling came from his chest.

"Ahhhhhhhhhh!" he screamed as he collapsed to his knees while grabbing his chest. His eyes turned red and his body trembled.

[Level up]

[Level up]

[Level up]

....

The system kept ringing out with several messages of leveling up while Ren was fighting for his life.

It kept going until he made it to level thirty, and without asking him, an evolution was triggered.

"Wait!" he called out. He could not go into an evolution now. He had work to do back on his side.

"You are evolving. You really took a lot of power from me from a single name. You are really one of a kind," Vel said.

"If you are worried about what will happen when you sleep, do not be. Time here is slowed down. When you return, it will be like only a few minutes passed, so accept your evolution."

When he heard that, his mind was put at ease. He slipped into his sleep and allowed the evolution to take over.

Vel stood over him after he had fallen asleep. A look of confusion plastered on his face.

"I made sure to control the amount of divine energy that name carried, yet somehow this dragon dug into me and pulled out more. But even then, to get an evolution so fast because of a name, this is amazing.

His blood must be so pure it absorbs and keeps every little bit of energy that flows in. Haha, I might not regret this investment."

He turned and headed back to his couch, sat down, crossed his legs, and then began to smoke a bit more.

The changes that came with this evolution were no small thing. Ren was forced to revert back to his dragon form, and then the form began growing, doubling in size. He now spanned sixteen feet from head to tail, almost the size of a mature dragon, though not comparable to his mother yet.

The golden tips of his scales turned into a burned crimson color, and so did the lines around his body. His scales got sharper and more detailed. They had a certain vibrant luster that could pass as crystal. His wings got a better shine to them and grew so much in size that they spanned close to eighteen feet when both were stretched out, longer than his body.

Vel watched all the changes happen, and each one stunned him. This dragon was no normal dragon. He had concluded that much in his mind. To change so much from one evolution, it was unheard of.

"The world might just be in for a treat with this one," he muttered.

After what seemed like two days, the protective barrier around Ren shattered and his eyes flicked open. A crimson glow in them that could send shivers down the heart of anyone who dared to look into them.

His evolution was complete, only a few days after his last one. He raised his head and was stunned when he saw his height keep going up, reaching double what it was before.

"Whoa," the word left his mouth fast.

[Congratulations on your evolution]
