Chapter 31: Summoned by a god.

The sun greeted the forest with its bright rays. Ren stood at the edge of the cave, and his eyes scanned the space below. This was where all the work would start, everything that they had to do.

"Alright, the goal for today is to clear the space out and somehow teach lizardmen and wolves how to plan," he spoke to himself.

After a few more minutes, he transformed himself back to his sovereign shell. But this time was different. The system helped him figure out last night that he could basically cover his entire body in armor-like scales. With the scales, he did not need to worry about his naked body being seen.

"Alright, Remu, Silas, have the wolves and lizardmen gather up. We are about to start," Ren said.

Silas and Remu, who were behind him, bowed their heads and left to get it started.

Ren stood there looking over everything. A soft sense of accomplishment washed over him. He had been here for a few weeks now, nothing great, yet he had managed to accomplish so much that his former life would be put to shame.

But there was also a lingering worry in his heart. This world was dangerous, even a fool would see that, so how would they take to a dragon that comes from nowhere and begins to rise extremely fast?

"Sigh, it’s not like I plan to hide myself for their sakes. Never. I’ll be dominating the world if I can. As long as I can build a home and have great food to eat, I don’t care who I have to destroy."

His lines were cheesy, his reasons very cringe, but they were real to him. He was no grand hero that came to shape the world or some villain that would scare everyone. He was simply someone who wanted to get strong enough to have his own stuff and ensure no one took it away.

Ren leaped off the side of the cliff and landed on the ground with a massive thud. He walked past the clearing to where the trees were. He pulled his arms back, and a few bones popped.

"Let’s see how this human body holds up."

After saying that, he bent his knee, ready for a dash, and then flexed his hand. His claws shot out in an instant. They gleamed under the sun.

BOOM!

He blasted forward, his body moving like a rocket through the air. His stride crossed several meters. First tree in sight, he spun around and went for a slash right at the base, using Claw Strike at the right angle.

SLASH!

He cleaved through the first tree, and it fell like a well-cut log of wood, and then the next and the next. Slash after slash, trees began to fall very fast and hit the ground with loud thuds. Before they touched the ground, he had slashed through another five.

[You have gained 100 EXP] x10

A system message came after the twentieth tree hit the ground.

When he saw that message, he stopped.

"Whoa, I can level up by cutting trees?"

He pulled up the system menu very fast to see the details eagerly.

[STATUS]

[Name: Ren, Humanoid Form]

[Race: Gluttony Dragon]

[Level: 3]

[EXP: 1000 / 3000]

[Strength: 126 > 100]

[Speed: 128 > 102]

[Stamina: 128 > 102]

[Skills: Glide, Dragon Vision, Claw Strike, Ember Breath, Devour, Inherit, Scale Hardening, Dragon’s Rage, Flame Dragon Form, Sonic Roar, Venom Fang, Fusion, Borrowed Might, Ultimate Gluttony]

(Author: If you are wondering why he is level 3 now, it’s because he killed Brogan and the other two teachers. He got EXP from that. It was not detailed to avoid causing a break in the Chapter. Also, the reduction in stats above is because he is in his Sovereign Shell form.)

"Alright, I’m not too far off from my next level-up. I just need to grind more trees down. Twenty gave me 100. I need forty to level up next."

With the plan in mind, he launched into the forest again. He moved faster than before, and in only a few minutes, he managed to get through all forty that he needed.

[Level up, +4 to all stats]

"Wooh, that was nice. Seems the ways to gather EXP are not limited at all."

By the time he was done, the lizardmen and all the wolves had gathered, so it was time to take over. The lizardmen were capable of creating tools, and so they had axes to cut, vines to be used as ropes, and as for the wolves, they pulled all the cut-down wood towards the cave, a simple yet very efficient method.

Ren wanted to join in, but before he could, the system rang out.

[Quest update: You have begun the development of the forest. Every major milestone brings rewards.]

[You have pulled the attention of many beings in the forest. Expect guests.]

[You are the carrier of a Divine Armament. The god that blessed the Divine Armament wishes to speak to you.]

He read everything but then got stuck on the last thing.

"A what now?"

[The god that blessed...]

"No, no, I get that part. Now what would a god want with me?" he asked. He did not think anything good could come from this.

"Maybe they will be good like the god that brought me here? Tch, what are the odds I’ll meet two good gods in my life? I can’t be that lucky."

He thought about it some more and came to a decision.

"Hold up on that meeting. For now, let’s keep it as..."

Before he could finish saying what he wanted to say, the system interrupted him.

[The god has demanded your presence.]

The tone shifted. It was no longer a request, and in the next moment, Ren felt a shift. Everything began twisting and slowly fading away.

"Shit, shit, shit, this is against my will. This should not be allowed!"

He yelled.

"What should not be allowed?"
