Chapter 32: Ch 32: Messiah’s Justice

Commander Graves was the one who blocked the path.

The refugees and the awakened players were both confused.

"Oh, I understand Commander Graves. He must have plans to distribute the food later on," one face-sunken old man said, looking desperately hopeful.

Commander Graves’s smile twisted.

"Hey, rhat is right. You understand me so well, old man. Now, go and fuck off from my sight."

The old man and the others flinched visibly.

Just then, the guy with spiked hair spoke, "Commander, why are you scaring them away? We risked our lives and brought the meat and water for them. Let them have these rations now."

In reality, though, they just wanted to complete their quest as soon as possible.

"Yeah, right. We lost one of our comrades to the Rift monsters while doing so," another awakened added in.

They were not lying. They did lose one player while doing the mission.

Commander Graves frowned, looking into the spiked-haired guy’s eyes. He did not see heroism; he saw greed and excitement.

"Just what could make these lazy losers risk their lives for those commoners?" he could not help but wonder inwardly.

"It is not you speaking those words. You are not a hero. I know you well, every one of you... Tell me, why are you doing this? What objective could lead you to be so kind to deliver food to this pathetic and useless people?"

The spiked-haired man, under commander Graves’ intense stare, started sweating. Because he knew Commander Graves was a higher level, but the threat of losing two levels and all his equipped gear was far more terrifying.

Finally, he confessed,

"We triggered a Hidden Quest. We cannot ignore the system demand, Commander. We have to distribute these rations directly to the refugees. If you confiscate them, our quest fails. We will face severe penalties."

"Huh, what?!!"

Graves looked at the players as if they were nothing more than entertaining clowns.

"A Hidden Quest? How fascinating. But your System quests hold no authority here. I am the law in this camp. Soldiers, secure the rations. Anyone who resists will be treated as a traitor."

The armed militants aimed rifles.

Panic flashed in the eyes of the players. If they failed now, after losing a comrade and risking everything in the wild, they would lose all their hard-earned progress.

They would have to fight the military.

"Draw your weapons, comrades! Nobody else should touch these crates! The System promised us a reward, and we are not losing it to a corrupt commander!"

"Right, Cap!"

The other players immediately readied their staffs and daggers, causing magical energy to brilliantly around them.

The starving refugees scrambled backward, terrified by the sudden display of supernatural powers.

They could not believe their eyes. The selfish arrogant superhumans were actually preparing to fight the military just to feed them.

To the helpless crowd, it looked like a deeply heroic stand.

They were completely unaware that greed was the true catalyst.

Commander Graves cracked his knuckles. As a level 12 player, he was confident on his stance.

"Bastards! You think you can challenge me over some foolish quests? I will crush you, take your food, and strip your corpses of that shiny gear."

Still hidden behind a watchtower, Raidan watched the standoff with a calculating gaze.

His plan was working perfectly. The players were so bound by the System’s rewards and punishments that they were willing to tear down the corrupt camp leadership themselves.

"Let’s make the game more fun shall we?" he mused darkly.

If the players needed a little push to win this fight and feed the camp, the Quest Creator was more than happy to adjust the game board.

Without hesitation, he opened his inventory and activated the Gold-Tier Treasure Box.

"Did you see that, Zelio? The System wants him dead. It is calling it a righteous execution."

"Haha, I would do it easily for am Epic-Tier armor set."

"You heard the System, Commander! You have abandoned your duty to humanity! We are here to deliver justice for these starving people!" Zelio said righteously.

The refugees cheered from the sidelines, "Yes, Kill him. Kill the Tyrant!"

Their red eyes filled with tears of hope. They now truly believed these Superhumans were sent by the heavens to save them.

Graves roared in fury, "You arrogant brats! I will butcher you all!"

Bang!

"For justice and the Epic loot!" Zelio bellowed, striking the commander with his Fire Sword.
